News that the so-called CIA leak scandal was much ado about nothing isn't news to us here at Monicamemo, but now even the Washington Post is admitting it. The Post is reacting to the revelation that the true source of Robert Novak's column was Richard Armitage-- hardly a strong advocate for the Iraq war, and certainly not part of a well-orchestrated effort to smear a CIA agent. The paper places most of the blame for the entire scandal on Joe Wilson, saying "It's unfortunate so many people took him seriously." Read the full editorial here. The Washington Post wasn't first in saying all of this. In case you missed it, be sure to check out Christoper Hitchens' column in Slate, "Plamegate's ridiculous conclusion."
