Look, I'm the Progressive's Progressive, BUT I'm also highly pragmatic.
---------------------------

If you live in California then your pragmatism means you are not progressive.
Obama has betrayed progressives.

So, let's assume that Obama will carry California with ease. How should progressives (such as yourself) show your progressivism?

Or put another way, what is so progressive about Obama's agenda?

xbjllb

The public had an immediate and highly negative reaction to merely Gingrinch and Dole's now quaint obstructionist shenanigans during the 90's.

Multiply that times 10,000, because the current level of insane recalcitrant hate and obstruction is at LEAST that.

Yes, the right is in for the biggest wakeup call of its entire extinction come November.

I live in Nevada, so I guess that makes me progressive.

Obama will carry California as much as he did 2008.

What's progressive about his agenda? Obamacare Pt II, coming after the House shakeup: Public Option to destroy the monopoly price fixing Big Insura wanted with THEIR right-wing written mandate.

Probably Medicare for all.

He did finally get out of Iraq. McCain would not only have kept us there, he would have us in Syria AND Iran in a GROUND WAR as well.

Overturning the misogynist Nazi assholes on the Supreme Court with Ledbetter. Gotta love that.

There's also a lot more behind the scenes. Good, neutral, and bad.

But I get where the bad comes from, and understand the need.

Why does anyone think he's REALLY in Columbia right now, and why Secret Service whoring (the number ONE way to infiltrate from time immemorial) was such a BIG DEAL?

The defense rests.

xbjllb

The BEST thing about Obama?

Israel wants him out.

There you go. Done deal. Israel will not win against CIA.

Which is why the Secret Service Presidential Detail has just been, uh, laudably renewed.

xbjllb

OH. About the soon-to-be noncommissioned Enterprise in the Straits of Hormuz as a sitting duck the net is all abuzz and worried about?

Not to worry.

It's a sitting duck all right. But NOT for the Iranians, who wouldn't dare touch it in the first place.

Enough said.

Close enough to the Left Coast..

Obamacare made a big mistake by leaving the insurance companies in the game and a bigger one by not passing Health Care as a fundamental right
subject to Equal Protection. Instead HC is still a privilege meaning coverage
negotiated on the basis of one's ability to pay or subject to limitations under the insurance contract.

Like Clinton with his sic Welfare Reform, Mr O has signaled his intention to reform SS & Medicare in the name of austerity.

Austerity forced because of the Trillions (with a T) given to the banks with no strings attached. So the wealth of the country was given to the 1% who now are sticking the bill to the rest of us.

Hope you'll check out Richard Wolff.

It's not an Obama or Romney thing. It's an Obama & Romney thing.

ElGringoman

There is no substantial difference between Obama and Romney. They are abject servants of the corporate state. And if you vote for one you vote for the other.

But you would never know this by listening to the Democratic Party and the advocacy groups that purport to support universal health care but seem more intent on re-electing Obama. It is the very sad legacy of the liberal class that it proves in election cycle after election cycle that it espouses moral and political positions it will not pay a price to defend. And since we have no fight in us, since we will not punish politicians like Obama who betray our core beliefs, the corporate juggernaut rolls forward with its inexorable pace to cement into place our global neofeudalism.

Care to back that up with some bona fide stats?

.
Have, several times.

http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/if-you-want-to-live-like-a-republican-vote-democratic/blog-381931/

For the investor class so fond of perpetuating the myth of Republicans' superior economic stewardship, the collapse of the stock marketing during the Bush recession must be particularly galling. The Standard & Poor's 500 spiraled down at annual rate of 5.6% during Bush's time in the Oval Office, a disaster even worse than Richard Nixon's abysmal 4.0% yearly decline. (Only Herbert Hoover's cataclysmic 31% plunge makes Bush look good in comparison.)

As it turns out, as the New York Times also showed in October 2008, the Democratic Party "has been better for American pocketbooks and capitalism as a whole." To make its case, the New York Times asked readers to imagine having put their money where its mouth is. Contrary to Republican mythology, Americans fare better - much, much better - under Democratic administrations:

As of Friday, a $10,000 investment in the S.& P. stock market index would have grown to $11,733 if invested under Republican presidents only, although that would be $51,211 if we exclude Herbert Hoover's presidency during the Great Depression. Invested under Democratic presidents only, $10,000 would have grown to $300,671 at a compound rate of 8.9 percent over nearly 40 years.

The irregulars on the memo, are UNTERMENSCHEN!

Sadly for Jeb Bush and his Republican allies, the GOP's pitiful record on the economy isn't limited to his brother. History shows that from GDP growth and job creation to managing the national debt and producing gains for investors, it is the Democratic Party which is the friend of Wall Street and Main Street alike.

As the New York Times detailed in January, across almost every indicator (article here, charts here), Democrats outperformed their Republican counterparts:

SAVE THE COUTRY! REMOVE ALL CONSERVATIVES FROM OFFICE!

Uncle Sam needs YOU!

The irregulars on the memo, are UNTERMENSCHEN!

There's no shortage of studies to show that stock market returns are higher under Democratic leadership. (As it turns out, Wall Street's performance is also better when Democrats control Congress.) In 2000, Pedro Santa-Clara and Rossen Valkanov of UCLA's Anderson School of Business concluded that "that the average excess return in the stock market is higher under Democratic than Republican presidents - a difference of 9 percent per year for the value-weighted portfolio and 16 percent for the equal-weighted portfolio." As the New York Times noted of UCLA study in 2003:

"It's not even close. The stock market does far better under Democrats...

...Professors Santa-Clara and Valkanov look at the excess market return - the difference between a broad index of stock prices (basically the Standard & Poor's 500-stock index) and the three-month Treasury bill rate - between 1927 and 1998. The excess return measures how attractive stock investments are compared with completely safe investments like short-term T-bills.

Using this measure, they find that during those 72 years the stock market returned about 11 percent more a year under Democratic presidents and 2 percent more under Republicans - a striking difference."

The irregulars on the memo, are UNTERMENSCHEN!

According to almanac editor Jeffrey Hirsch, the presidential party figures are among the most significant he's found. If the stock market were random, we'd expect such a result only one-quarter of the time. "I don't know why people are convinced Republicans are good for the stock market," Hirsch says.

Why? Because Republicans and their water carriers continue - with great success - to perpetuate the myth that the regulation-free policies of the GOP that so benefit them personally somehow help the American people overall. Given that the national debt tripled under Ronald Reagan and doubled again under George W. Bush, it's no wonder Dick Cheney famously declared:

"Reagan proved deficits don't matter."

Not, apparently, until a Democrat is in the White House.

But, FOX NEWS SAYS.. Savage, Levin,Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter says..."

Irregulars On The Memo:

I think the stock market rebound had little to do with who occupied the WH.

The sectors of the economy now doing well are in large part the direct beneficiaries of the massive infusion of cash used to bail out the financial sector.

Further, once liquidity was infused into the economy some shred investors saw opportunities to make short term investments on Wall St. In other words yours and my tax money was given to the 1% who in turn invested and profited from some of it.
You must also recall that there is no longer a direct relationship between corporate profits and job creation.
I daresay that these days to get an appointment with your dentist or to order a pizza that your request is handled by offshore service operators.

The U-6 Unemployment Rate in the USA is at 18% and isn't getting better.
Mr Romney has no solution and Mr Obama has no solution outside of the notion of looking after the interests of the 1%.
No amount of tax cutting and no amount corporate subsidy is going to spur employment.
In fact, both of them have proposed austerity: cutting spending and services to pay for the bailout of the failed financial system.
Niether propose re-regulation under Glass-Stegall, neither are going to stimulate industrial growth through tariffs, and neither will trim defense spending to shore up infrastructure.
Increased joblessness will result in more foreclosures, closed schools, and more cuts by state and local governments.

In short the only answer either of these two have is repressiion of growing civil unrest at the injustice created in having the middle class both support the poor after bailing out the rich.

There is money, It is in private hands. Unlike Roosevelt who taxed the wealth at 91% to cover the expenses of the new deal the present two candidates share the same constituency.

It is farce when in the second great depression now in its fifth year that the best the Democrats can do is propose that wealth be taxed at 39% (up from
35%).
It should make you sick. As thing grow worse over this year believe me it will.

Ummahgummah

what is so progressive about Obama's agenda?

POSTED BY: ELGRINGOMAN | APRIL 15, 2012 AT 07:04 PM

--

Let me count the ways..

1. redistributionist ObamaCare.

2. Wide-open borders.

3. Submission to moslems and massive aid to the moslem brotherhood, both military and financial.

4. Hatred of Israel combined with latent anti-Semitism.

5. Firebrand rhetoric against perceived political foes hitherto unknown from a President, even Dhimmi Carter.

6. New Black Panther guy and Al Sharpton frequent visitors to the White House, as well as Union Boss Andy Stern.

7. Open disdain for European Nations. See return of Winston Churchill Bust to England.

8. Always sides with black in controversial cases like Cornell West burglary and Trayvon Martin shooting. Helps stoke the flames of hatred and resentment.

9. Supports OWS

10. Hates Military.

11. Gaying of the Military.

12. Cutting Military Budget while adding BILLIONS to welfare and food stamps.

Need still more?

Yes, the wonderchild IS a stone-cold pwogwethive.

But then you know that already. Your statements to the "contrary" are mere rhetoric trying to set up something else.

I'll call you on it when I see it.

.

Ummahgummah

.

More Marks of the Pwogwethive:

12. Crony Capitalism: GM and closing of GOP-contributor-owned GM dealerships. Costly, wasteful progressive boondoggles like electric cars, Solyndra, MF Global and Corzine still a free man.

13. Stopped American off-shore drilling but gives Billions for Brazil to drill instead. Nixed Keystone.

14. Prohibitive regulations on our coal industry.

15. The PIGFORD reparations scandal where more applicants got paid than there were black farmers and not a word from the media.

16. Appointing Eric Holder AG and a host of others like Van Jones and the SCOTUS appointments REEK of progressivism.

17. Janet Napolitana as head of DHS, profiling of returning vets and Tea Party activists for terrorism.

18. Official expungement of terms like "islamic or moslem terrorism" from Defense and National Security apparatus terminology.

19. Marrying a radical stone-cold racist.

20. Started political career with Bill Ayers.

21. Makes Jimmy Carter look right-wing.

22. Complains about "war on women" yet sic his attack dogs on Michelle Bachmann, Sue Myrick and Sarah Palin. Even Palin's kids are attacked in the vilest of ways, yet insists HIS own family be left out of it. Latest attacks on Ann Romney orchestrated by libs everywhere as part of "war on women" campaign.

23. The True Mark of the Pwogwethive: DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO.

Gringoman, DJ.. I am sure you guys can add to the list.. I know there's so much more than what I've compiled so far.

.

ElGringoman

Hey GUMMAH, you're missing the point. Obama hasn't done enough to satisfy Progressives and thus is losing Left support.

True progressives believe that Obama has not delivered on his promises.
In fact, I see zero difference between Obama and Romney on the legislative agenda.
Your list IMHO isn't relevant nor worth debating on the merits.
Romney & Obama are inseparable.

That is the issue.

Most of your list appear like NewsMax talking points. But as you go down the list on issue of substance there is no difference.

My points to Irregulars On The Memo (Jay?) @12:38AM concerned the fact that the rise in the S&P index is not the result of a DEM being in office but was the direct result of the infusion of cash from the public to the private sector: and btw these bailouts were opposed by true conservatives back in 2008. Where did you stand?

But as we see here now on the MEMO there are very few true conservatives. Because most true conservatives don't support Romney. So in order for Wall St to get their lackey coronated they hustled a few billionaires to back several social conservatives and split the field to divide and conquer. You and your tea party buds have been cut out of the picture.
You know it. The elite got their man and the right wing populists got hosed.

Most are opportunistic CINO's desperately trying to rationalize support for Romney by pointing to the silliest of reasons like sending a statue of Churchill back to England.
Good. Keep it up. That is the game being run on you. Come the day after the election Wall St will continue their assault on guys like you and the world will keep turning. They won.

xbjllb

"It's an Obama & Romney thing." - El Gringoman

I'm sorry, I understand where you're coming from, however:

I MUST stop OUTRIGHT Nazism as much as I can, and than entails voting for the lesser evil and not throwing away my vote on someone who absolutely can't and won't win, which is EXACTLY how (via Nader) Bush got CLOSE ENOUGH to get installed by the "Supreme" Court "of the US" in the first place.

THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO 9-11 WITH GORE IN OFFICE; THE CABAL WOULDN'T HAVE DARED PULL IT AND HAND HIM THAT MUCH POWER.

And who can say what the world would have looked like today if we'd had another 8 years of peacetime prosperity and terrorism ended by continued growing and grateful respect for the US because of saving Moslems from genocide in Kosovo. The right wing might have been a distant memory by now never to rise again instead of screaming their last big biz whoring "Citizens" "United" white supremacist ugliness Tea Party gasp for life to "get their America back!!"

On the left we don't even have a Ron Paul to get excited about, so like it or not, Obama will absolutely be serving a second term. And if they get a Democratic majority in the house like I'm positive they will, a likely third and fourth term.

Which will be the undoing of Hillary, but hey. They don't call it the lesser evil for nothing. As long as Afghaninam ends.

Oh, about that and poppies. Isn't Columbia's climate and elevation almost the same as Afghanistan's?

I try to be as pragmatic as Christ. Render to politics that which is politics'. Render to the CIA that which is the CIA's.

xbjllb

"Obama hasn't done enough to satisfy Progressives and thus is losing Left support." - El Gringoman

On the contrary, his support is gaining and rallying.

The gain is among independent women and hispanics.

Far more than what the GOP's state Jim Crow laws will disenfranchise at the polls.

Are you a Paul guy? Is that it?

Paul wants government to dictate when life begins, and womens' rights to procreation. And thereby, whether they can work a lifelong career or not.

That alone negates him. Without that bit of Christianist bullshit, he'd almost be a Democrat, and have half a chance.

But then there's that idiot son of his whoring for Big Biz under the guise of libertarianism.

xbjllb

RE: SatanZimmieUG's List

Thank GOD the CIA went so pwogressive...

Lotsa luck fighting them too.

xbjllb

It's really simple. The Party AND Church AND religion AND god that makes out one in five American women to be a murderer WILL DIE, AND DIE MISERABLY.

Think about it. Think about the inevitability of it.

And then buy life insurance and make out a will.

OR EVOLVE TO THE TRUTH: LIFE BEGINS AT BIRTH WITH THE FIRST BREATH WHEN THE SOUL ENTERS THE BODY, NOT A SECOND BEFORE, AND FURTHERMORE, ALWAYS DID.

xbjllb

Or, to put it another way: The Party AND Church AND religion AND god that perpetrates the lie that life begins at conception WILL DIE, AND DIE MISERABLY.

It's already happening, before our very eyes, and that PROVES that the god of those people is NOT the ETERNAL God of TRUTH, but SOMETHING ELSE.

xbjllb

Or, let me put it the best way to drive the stake through.

The ONE thing, the ONLY THING, that MODERN Judaism and Christianity share with Modern Islam is the belief that life begins at conception.

So, y'all. Have to UNITE and fight all us "baby" murderers now.

Lotsa luck with that.

xbjllb

Hmmm. The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades...

xbjllb

The concept, theory, and belief that human "Life begins at conception" is heretical and blasphemous and moneygrubbing for Church and Party, porn for white supremacists, and misogynist, and people are finally beginning to GET IT.

Heretical because it makes God out to be worse than Satan, a sadistic cruel wasteful monster damning souls in human pre-born "babies" to a horrific death when He didn't have to.

Blasphemous because it equates all human fetuses with Christ who did have a soul in the womb (because He IS GOD) and John who MIGHT have received his in the womb (debatable).

Moneygrubbing because it makes more people for the Church; even destitute poor toss as many pennies as they can at it which adds up. For the right wing Party, it's the money raising gift that keeps on giving because they know Roe Vs. Wade will NEVER be repealed and they have NO INTENTION of ever doing so and killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Porn for white supremacists: "We need more white babies to compete and 'survive' against all the brown and black ones."

Misogynist because it declares one in five first world women out to be murderers. But no, not just ANY murderer, but a "baby" killer of their own flesh and blood.

We need a constitutional amendment all right. One that states the truth as it was for millennia:

LIFE BEGINS AT BIRTH.

Progressives who support Obama are PINO's supporting a DINO.
Much like the sellout CINO's supporting the RINO.

Obama and Romney are both corporate candidates who pander to the exact same funders on Wall St. The result is what you see all around you.

xbjllb

So be it. It's still FAR better than McCain's would-be open WWIII/Armageddon.

Besides, Obama's only a DINO because he's CIA.

Fortunately for you CINO's will get a pass.....

'death camps' is just a wee bit of a stretch here, don't you think?

The elite wing of the Republican party has you hitting all the right notes. These are the same people who engineered the Romney coronation no matter what the people in the party actually wanted. Let's face it Conservatives, not Romney, actually won.

So if it takes the specter of death panels (or now death camps) to get you to pull that lever in favor of what you say you are against... then a vote is a vote.

As I said earlier I won't be voting for Mr Obama if that helps you at all.

My only point is that the country- the democracy- is gone when the voter is forced to pick from two jokers in a stacked deck.

Both these guys will be cutting taxes for the wealthy and shipping more jobs overseas.... neither have an answer for the economy. There is only greater income disparity in an era of economic decline.

If you can get your head around the fact that you are supporting the poor and subsidizing the rich with your taxes and are about to face austerity in the form of reduced services coupled with the 25% average devaluation in the value of your house, then you get it.

If not, hey, let's argue about death camps. The two parties love these distractions.

I agree with Garth Turner in Canada. America is too big to fail, and won't. Already there's a surplus of domestic natural gas which is going to bring down prices to levels not seen in decades.

Tax outsourcing at even 75% the way they must, and factories and factory union jobs will FLOOD back to the US. And provide the taxes needed for infrastructure repair.

We can, and will, see 1950's prosperity come again and a revived middle class, once the Nazis are removed from Congress. In November.

Furthermore, by the end of his term, the tax rate on the rich will be at least 44%. And well on the way to 50%, where it should have been all along.
