As Americans, today we count our many blessings. We give thanks for our families and friends, our faith, our Constitution and the many freedoms it guarantees, our great and good country, and the extraordinary United States military, our bulwark against tyranny, oppression and terror.
We are going through tough times, but we are truly blessed in this great land. There is still no other nation like it on earth. Never has been, never will be. God blessed America from the beginning. And He blesses us still. Now we just have to work a bit harder to save her. The work begins anew tomorrow. For today, we celebrate and give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving.
" You won't get there by trying to support the lesser of the two crazy trains." - Steve Morgan
When you only have two realistic choices, the wisest thing is to choose the lesser evil. By continuing to choose the lesser evil, you move the path further to the light. Rather than either doing nothing or throwing your vote away.
By MY rationale, 9-11, Iraq, Afghaninam... ALL prevented. NEVER WOULD HAVE EVEN BEEN ATTEMPTED with Gore in office. The perps knew Gore would have had them hanging from the White House lawn. They would have had to have waited for the next GOP or puppet GOP "President".
NO Patriot act. Economic collapse due to mega-trillions to offense contractors and their cronies in DC and FURTHER handout taxcuts to the rich? Negligible.
Depression? WHAT Depression? A CONTINUED run of the longest peacetime prosperity in US history.
No, I'm sorry, I could strangle Nader for what he did to this country. Scalia should be waterboarded to death.
But I'll let God handle them. And He will. They've got the blood of MILLIONS of innocent children on their hands.
Posted by: xbjllb | November 28, 2011 at 01:51 PM
I disagree. The plurality doesn't even show up to vote. ...
Apropos the loons on this MM blog (and your comments @1:51pm) check out Roberto Bolano's novel, NAZI LITERATURE IN THE AMERICAS. It baffoons the Right in order to chastise the left..... and there are plenty of snazzy nazis posting here...
Now you wrote: "No, I'm sorry, I could strangle Nader for what he did to this country. '
What? He decided to run for President and got involved in the process! And you want to strangle him?! Have you considered how many Dem votes went to Bush? Plus Gore won.
Further, the snazzy-nazis here are a parody of themselves. Those seven-figured right wing hosts serve only one purpose: they earn all their glitter by whipping up the trailerpark no nothings and getting them at the end of the day to vote 'against'... Works every time.
You are a mostly bright guy. Read some Bolano.

ADULTS UNDERSTAND that politics will ALWAYS be a choice between the ultimate evil and the lesser evil. To believe anything otherwise is to be a child, or worse yet, a fool.
--------------------------------
How so? Most people don't show up to vote which is why the MM's must whip up hysteria in the Queens and then provide the pitchforks.
Hysteria aside there is nothing in the Obama program to distinguish itself from the Right.
Nothing.
The fact you are tuned into Matthews sucks you into the Pepsi rathole instead of the Coke, er Koch rathole... whatever.

"Plus Gore won." - Steve Morgan
Would he have entered the White House if Nader had pulled out of the race at the end for the good of America?
Certainly.
Nader has blood on his hands. Nothing will change that. He was a useful tool, even bragged about his money coming from the GOP.
HE. DIDN'T. CARE. ABOUT. AMERICA.
HE. ONLY. CARED. ABOUT. NADER.
Nader didn't pull 9-11; he just put the guys in power who DID.

"Hysteria aside there is nothing in the Obama program to distinguish itself from the Right.

Your first statement? Disagree a bit. There is LITTLE to distinguish Obama from a Republican, but that little is as good as it gets in politics and I'll take it and fight for it anytime against the worst ultimate evil alternative. As long as I'm going to involve myself commentating on the dirty game of human politics.
As far as Matthews? You're new here, I'll overlook that crack. I've torn the man a new asshole on too many occasions to number. Like I said, "For ONCE he is right".
It's just pragmatism against idealism. Pragmatics accomplish; idealists dream.
Humanity needs both. But please, when it's as close as Gore vs. Bush, with millions of innocent lives at stake, DROP THE IDEALISM A NOTCH.
Nader wasn't just a tool of the right; he was a WILLING TOOL.
And a very effective one.
But hang onto your hats; revenge is sweet, and so is karma.
I'm betting RON PAUL is going to make an independent run.
IF the right doesn't kill him in the attempt (highly likely.)
It's far too easy to kill someone by directing focused microwaves into a stationary brain and popping blood vessels. But it's not always terminal.
But because of that, it's only reserved for very few. McCain, Reid, Kennedy, for starters.
Posted by: xbjllb | November 28, 2011 at 02:46 PM
Actually, giving the way he's acting during the debates when others are talking, they might have already tried it on Paul too.
Posted by: xbjllb | November 28, 2011 at 02:47 PM
And the only reason the Democrats are attacking Romney now, is they KNOW that he and Christie can win against them if they run without Hillary.
And that they could run with ADAM LAMBERT against Gingrinch and win.
They could run with the GEICO GECKO (and that might even be MORE appropriate as well as an inside joke, Aussie accent and all) and win against Gingrinch.
Posted by: xbjllb | November 28, 2011 at 02:52 PM
Of course, if Paul runs as in independent and Newt is the candidate, JUST CANCEL THE ELECTION AND CORONATE OBAMA.
So many right wingers will stay home on THAT one, the newly veto-proof BOTH houses of Congress will have NO PROBLEM REPEALING the 22nd Amendment. And faster than you can say "FDR".

Barney Frank will be blamed for the banking insolvency, but the banks themselves wanted this. The same pattern exists in Europe. First they pulled the rug out from underneath by placing large investments in China. This created an income problem of huge dimensions everywhere in the West.
They covered the extent of the damage by using stimulus spending, allowing it to appear as nothing was changed, so they could continue the process, to further develop China, and undermine Western finance, and the solvency of our governments.
They have done a good job of destroying the solvency of the West, but what is there in the wake of all this?
No Utopia rising.

Jerry Sandusky being a so-called Republican,ha-ha--Gringo
It's truly pathetic to see a grownman try so hard to deny what are the facts.
Sandusky IS a Republican. No matter how hard Gringo tries to deny it.
Has another Republican molested children? Bernie Fine

With the Sandusky sex scandal. Now, it looks as if many of the people of the country. Are considering having petitions for no more conservative coaches.
They have had enough!

also, interesting how a newbie? to the memo, talks as if he's been here many times.
Which username will you use next week?

J. Dumbella is a thug union hack, a thug troll, a factoid thug, and also a new mutation of the thug species. Eg. The creep is constantly going "Republican this, Republican that, ooooh, Jerry Sandusky, he Republican." Then he goes ha-ha, amused at himself, while boring everyone else. It never occurs to the dunce that virtually no one here is a Republican! In fact, the dunce can't even admit that Republicans are held by most here in as low regard as Democrats--sometimes lower, sometimes a little higher.
The new species: He is also a village idiot thug.
All in all, a little socialist. Socialist thug? Yes, but 'socialist thug' is an oxymoron--a word this invading parasite might someday look up.

Jerry Sandusky, he Republican.--GRINGO
It's Gringo who is trying his best to say that Sandusky is not one of them, but, a liberal.
He has tried to no avail to link Gay Nazis with the truth talkers on the memo. Then, when it was shown that Nazism is considered RIGHT-WING. He went "well, er-huh."
So, when that didn't work. Now he's trying to link Sandusky with the memo truth talkers. Seems that Gringo has been caught in his own false truths.
Posted by: Jay | November 28, 2011 at 08:30 PM
It never occurs to the dunce that virtually no one here is a Republican! --Gringo
But, what the Gringo dunce can't comprehend is that Sandusky IS a CONSERVATIVE. Which makes him far more like the irregulars than the memo truth talkers.
Gringo, in his own failed attempts to link others to the "TROLLS" has made it far more obvious that those people are like the irregulars, than, the "TROLLS"

Herman Cain's problem: NOT dumping his wife and serially marrying his mistresses.
