I would had considered voting for him. Next "credible" candidate, please? None of these guys (and gals) are any good as an alternative to Obama.

Peggy

Every Other possible Republican candidate is better than Obama. Christie might have been better than all of them but given Obama's record so far, he is at the bottom of the list of presidential hopefuls for 2012.
Christie has just become the anti-Palin. He stayed with the job he began with and wants to finish what he started. Palin was pilloried for leaving the governorship of Alaska. She was a "quitter". Christie has morals and standards and if it is meant to be that he is President, so be it. In 8 years his youngest child will be close to 20. They can then choose to be part of a presidential run, not forced into it by the mere fact that they are children.

Steve Morgan

Another one bites the dust!

Christie bailing out puts pressure on the banksters. Who can do a snowjob on the great unwashed while remaining in the pocket of Wall St?

They're beginning to drop like flies... and btw, when the gods fall, the earth trembles:

http://blog.chron.com/rickperry/2011/10/rick-perry-once-defended-confederate-symbols/

Again, racism by itself isn't going to sink 'ol Rick. It's the pay-to-play politics conducted at Niggerhead Hunting Lodge that will spur his exit; a Bachman-Perry Overdrive.
By the way, this election pits the bankers against the rest of us. Obama will get much more money from Wall St than his Republican challenger. But notice that Goper Central proffers candidates that are also well vetted by the banksters.
It is primary season. No need to bend over and spread 'em just yet. Remember that infamous vote which bailed out Wall St with a trillion bucks, no questions asked.
Who was "for" and who was "against"?

There are populists on the Right! They are not getting the attention they deserve because (much like the MSM) the rightwing radioheads know that their seven figures depend on Goper Central. (That said, here comes a new thread!)

As a Republican NJ resident I am glad he is not running. I am selfish and there is far too much here he still needs to fix.
Took decades to hose up NJ this bad, and he is well on his way to fixing most if not all of our fiscal issues - thank goodness.
That said, during the last few weeks I thought sure - let him run as he'd do well. Perhaps even win. But lamenting his not running really shows only the relative weakness of the current GOP crop, and not his weakness. As to what happens in 4 or 8 years, well no one predicted Obama to have won. And most thought that a Gore or a Clinton would have been in by now. And we see how that turned out.
No, I am glad he recognized that a) he needs to finish his work here and b) had he run after only being in office 2 years, he'd have had an uphill battle.
I believe that if he continues to do well he will be a force in the GOP, be it as President or not. So thanks CC. As a NJ taxpayer, many thanks!

FK

He's smart. He knows the Republicans are not going to win in 2012, but he may have a chance in 2016, after getting a few more years of experience under his belt.

wall street is putting far more money into GOP candidates. Obama wants higher taxes, more regulations. The GOP feels that any amount of either is too much. If you were a Wall Street Tycon, who would you vote for?

Many on the left are calling Herman Cain an "oreo"- meaning black on the outside; white on the inside.

This implies to be white is a bad thing. Furthermore, it also implies Herman Cain is a race traitor.

Does anyone here see the ugly anti-white racism dripping from that?

Chris Christie's Out...Who's In?

Ann Coulter may be disappointed, but New Jersey gets to keep its governor. Meanwhile, Republicans still must pick their Presidential candidate. Despite what the “progressive” Party Pravda (aka the mainstream media) tells you, there are more than two options.

Rick Perry’s been a fairly successful governor in a State that’s created a lot of jobs during today’s depression. Because of a business friendly political climate, lots of companies have relocated to Texas from States where economies are being destroyed by “progressive” policies. However, there’s more to consider. Thanks to a series of bumbling debate performances, Perry’s viability is increasingly in doubt. An insistence on defending his State’s immigration policies remains a liability. Border security is a major concern for most Americans. A taxpayer funded magnet of “free stuff” for illegal aliens doesn’t fly with Conservatives. Categorizing others as heartless for disagreeing with this position may not have been the best way for Perry to approach it.

Mitt Romney’s candidacy has not ignited passion, especially with grassroots Conservatives. The Tea Party sees him as a RINO. He’s the entrenched establishment’s (aka “progressives” in American clothing) ”next one in line” candidate. To the Tea Party, he’s yesterday’s news. Although he would love their support, the only way Romney will get Tea Parpty support is if he wins the nomination without it. There’s more than one albatross around his neck. The big one is romneycare. How can a former Governor who signed an individual mandate into law possibly champion the drive to repeal obamacare because it features an individual mandate? Then again, there’s that image of being a flip flopper fostered by his changing views on a variety of positions over the years. Sure, he worked successfully in the private sector. Yes, he turned the Olympics around financially. But, does he really know how to create jobs on main street? He’s corporate CEO kind of guy born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Gary Johnson has good ideas about cutting taxes and reducing spending. He understands that even if spending is cut, government can’t be trusted to apply the money to deficit reduction, that it’s more inclined to spend the money on wasteful projects. However, his foreign policy views and ideas on social issues will cost him dearly with Conservatives.

With Christies’ withdrawal, Jon Huntsman, who’s betting his entire candidacy on New Hampshire, might experience short term benefits there with moderates. However, his foreign policy positions have as much chance of attracting Republicans as do those of a better known candidate who also has no chance of winning the nomination.

Ron Paul has a remarkably devoted following, hence his strong fund raising abilities. He also has some good ideas vis a vis the domestic economy. But he disqualifies himself from being Commmander in Chief by virtue of his Code Pink like foreign policy views. Besides, does any Republican really want a President who’s openly teamed with Barney Frank in sponsoring legislation to legalize marijuana?

Michele Bachmann started out strong but has slowed. She’s stuck to her guns and maintained her bona fide Conservative positions, but a series of gaffes have taken their toll, having a negative impact on her funding raising. She remains in contention because she’s stood by her convictions, standing firm on national defense, support for Israel, denying taxpayer funded benefits to illegal aliens, defending parental rights, and leading the charge to defund obamacare and seeing that it’s repealed completely.

Newt Gingrich remains in the race primarily because he’s still churning out ideas, but his candidacy seems a long shot due to personal baggage. Yes, he cheated on his wife with an interm while attacking Bill Clinton for doing the same. Yes, that made him a hypocrite. But to Gingrich’s credit, where Clinton lied, creating the now famous phrase ”it depends on what your definition of is is”, Gingrich admitted to it and resigned. Gingrich can rightly claim that he knows how to balance the federal budget. In fact, he’s the only candidate of any political Party who can make that claim.

Rick Santorum is strongly Conservative on moral issues, which is fine, but is probably not the quickest pathway to victory in a fiscal election. He’s strong on foreign policy, Second Amendment Rights, and obamacare. However, for Santorum to gain traction with voters, he should refocus his campaign on fiscal matters, especially Joe Biden’s favorite three letter word: J-O-B-S.

Herman Cain is a strong fiscal and social Conservative. His 9-9-9 tax reform plan is revolutionary and could ignite private sector growth, something that’s badly needed. Cain’s been an outspoken opponent of national healthcare ever since Bill Clinton tried to introduce it in the 1990′s. While he shares the Libertarian view that America should not preemptively go into war, he falls short of crippling America’s defense capabilities by gutting defense spending. Herman Cain enjoys grassroots support because he’s a real grassroots American, born and raised in the south to a low income family that refused government handouts. He’s a prime example of the American “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps” way of life. Best of all, he’s not a career politician.

Ann Coulter’s choice for the GOP nominations isn’t running…is yours?

Notice that the commentators, speak of no income taxes. But, very high Property, sales and other taxes. The Business Franchise tax is 24%.

That's what conservatives do. They proclaim they will lower people's income taxes. But, sneak through the back door and raise your taxes elsewhere. Reagan, Bush did the same.
Another weazel thing they do, is to borrow from places overseas. Bush and his love of China, is a great example.

Jay

CLinton had done to Obama when he had outgrown his welcome at the teleprompter.

Posted by: Chiel Joe | October 04, 2011 at 10:38 PM
--------------------------------------------------

There's one reason above all others that President Obama uses a teleprompter in delivering most of his speeches: he's good at it.

Ronald Reagan was the same way. He was more at ease in reading his speech off the dual screens of a teleprompter than looking up and down at a speech text on his lectern

Not so, George W. Bush. He often got that nervous, deer-in-the-headlights look when giving an address from a teleprompter. He would seem stiff and ill-at-ease. He did not convey a sense of understanding.

"He preferred using large index cards," said his one-time White House Press Secretary Ari Fleisher, "plus I think he was just more comfortable with the cards."

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-4848259-503544.html

So, wonder if Reagan was ever called the teleprompter president?

Jay

And, Obama through his stimulus has had the biggest tax cut in decades. More so than Reagan and Bush. Wonder if the right will ever admit to that?
Naw! better to attack him for what they want to say he's done. Even if the facts are, that he wasn't guilty for what they accuse him of!

Jay

Lies about the President and the TelePrompTer

There are two oft-repeated lies about the President’s use of the TelePrompTer, most notablypublished on the Fox News website, and never corrected.

The first is that, at the President’s first televised news conference, he used the TelePrompTer during the Q&A, not just for his opening remarks. I was there, and anybody who was can tell you that the devices lowered into the floor after his opening remarks.

The second lie is that the White House is planning to install a special video screen in the President’s podium, so he can be coached during press conferences. Although the claim defies reason, I checked with the White House, and the story is completely false.

Unsupported (or barely supported) claims about the President and the TelePrompTer:

Legitimate news organizations like Politico and the New York Times have run stories claiming that President Obama uses the TelePrompTer more than other Presidents did, under a wider set of circumstances.

While I don’t necessarily dispute this, none of these stories provide detail, relying on anecdotal data. Does he use it 2% more, 20% more? Did other Presidents give more, less, or any speeches outside the “normal” use of TelePrompTers this early in their terms?

Additionally, both articles point out that when the President does use the device, it is in situations where others would use it as well, or use notecards. Nobody is claiming that Obama uses a script where others did not. The TelePrompTer is, in essence, a high-tech notecard.

What disturbs me about this is that I think the only reason these stories were even written was so these outlets could show how “balanced” they are. This is how the right continues to drive the news in this country. they accuse the media of a liberal bias, then feed them right-wing garbage like this to prove they’re not biased.

Fallacies about the President and the TelePrompTer:

I alluded to this in the last paragraph, but this entire scheme is meant to give the impression that Barack Obama is a mindless puppet. If that’s true, then every President is a mindless puppet, be it to the TelePrompTer or their prepared remarks. I covered many speeches during the campaign, for example, and followed along with the advance notes put out by the campaigns. None of the candidates diverged from their prepared remarks by more than a few syllables.

The other fallacy, the big one, is that the Special Olympics gaffe, or occasional verbal stumbling at a town hall meeting, are evidence that the President is helpless without the TelePrompTer. The argument is ridiculous on its face, and is only given propulsion by the previous lies I’ve mentioned. Barack Obama spoke extemporaneously at more than 20nationally televised debates, doing well enough to sweep John McCain in the 3 Presidential debates and win a landslide electoral victory.

Also missing from this comparison with other politicians and Presidents is
the fact that, no matter what the speech is read from, Barack Obama writes far more of his own speeches than any other. These are his own words, to a much greater degree than those to whom he is compared. If he is a puppet, it is to himself.

Finally, comparing Obama to other Presidents is dishonest. While the technology has existed for about 50 years, it has become much more portable, and much more flexible to interface with, even in the course of the last President’s term in office. Given that fact, it is reasonable to think that other Presidents would have used it more had those benefits been available to them.

The right has 4, maybe even 8, more years to throw things like this against the wall. The media has a duty to make sure that only legitimate things stick.

Does Perry himself have a heart, when he was asked Does it bother him that some who his state have had executed, might have been innocent? And, instead of replying, Sure it would bother me. Instead, he said,"Justice will prevail."

Even if an innocent man was executed? Where is the justice in that? Certainly not for the victim.
A good case that many feel was executed wrongly was this man:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cameron_Todd_Willingham

Arson eperts said the fire that killed Cameron's 3 children was accidental. Many others have said the same thing.

So, if the many persons who have said that the man was innocent are true. Is, it justice according to perry?

Ron Paul on Not Pandering

By Allan Wall on October 4, 2011

Kudos to Ron Paul who said in in interview that he doesn't plan to pander to Hispanics. As reported in Ron Paul : I'm Not Going to Kowtow to the Latino Vote (Jason M. Volack, ABC News, Oct. 4th, 2011):

"Rep. Ron Paul gave a sneak peek into how his administration would handle illegal immigrants, telling a Spanish language news program, I’m not going to kowtow to Latino voters.

Paul, appearing on Univision’s Sunday morning politics show “Al Punto,” said that illegal immigrants shouldn’t be given any special route to citizenship. Paul instead suggested the possibility of their earning a work permit to fold them into the American legal system."

[I certainly don't agree with that part. They shouldn't get a work permit, they should be deported.]

“If everyone who comes illegally is automatically given citizenship, a vote, and can apply for welfare, that would not be good format because we would have more of it,” said Paul."

[EXACTLY!]

"Paul also offered a different interpretation of the 14th amendment, adding that children of illegal immigrants are not under the jurisdiction of U.S. law and thus should not be given automatic citizenship."

[Right on!]

"He also shrugged off any worries that his message might not appeal to Latino voters who are concerned about immigration reform.

“If you think I need to have a different message for Hispanics than I do for other people, I think that’s unnecessary,” said Paul. “I don’t want to punish anyone who belongs to a special group, and nobody should get special privilege either.”

Of course, if one is in the business of making up their own words and their own definitions, then by all means. But don't expect anyone to ever believe a shred of what you spout, because it's all bullshit when you can't even acknowledge accepted standard definitions that have been in place for more than a century.

God, who invented evolution and utilized it, certainly overruled it on occasion as suited His needs.

The occasion of making the human murderer (born Negro like Adam and Eve before him) Cain albino (so all men would not destroy him but rather encounter him with fear and wonder and in many cases, subservience and worship his descendants as "gods" until they destroyed the indigent peoples they conquered) was one of those exceptions. Which is why it's in the Bible; it is important and explains much. And neanderthals are the people Cain mated with to created Caucasians in Europe. Asians were created via evolution from that stock, and you can follow the trend to epicanthic eye folds across the steppes of Russia all the way to China and beyond as a reaction to constant snow glare. Ditto in Scandinavia.

God and True Christians have no argument with anthropology or any other science, for that matter. Even the simple discipline of history. Only you christianists have such problems.

ESPECIALLY the racist revisionist branch intent on proving nonexistent "superiority" to other different races.

If anything, God's arch (and often missed) sense of humor showed in His "Mark of Cain"; by making Cain, the first murderer's bright skin reflect his true god, Lucifer, the "light bringer".

I like God. Endlessly resourceful, and eternally appropriate.

I get the feeling you're not going to like Him so much.
