Yes, polls indicate an imminent GOP earthquake in NY 9th Congressional after the Anthony Weiner acrotchalypse. If this uber-lib seat is not safe from the Tea Party tsunami, which one is? Even Dem icon Mayor Koch is backing the Republican!

That said, the 9th District, as expert John Fund points out, has a history of ballot, uh let's say, "irregularities." Meaning the non-socialist may need a really wide margin of victory to prevail. Anything fairly close....

Conclusion: Today's election is the Dems' to steal?

Another point about today's NY 9th that nobody is mentioning....

Everybody mentions the obvious: it's a referendum on the Democrats and their Marxocratic Man Child. Of course it is, but here's another point that needs making....The Dems are pouring in big bucks from their Wall Street banksters, crony billionaires and union bosses, saturating the air with ads about, in essence, the "uncaring Republicans who want to push grandma off the cliff instead of making the greedy rich pay up a little more."

In other words, they are trotting out all their typical Marxist Class War schlock to portray the G.O.P.
as wanting to destroy the "Ponzi Scheme" of Social Security yadda blabba, yadda blabba.

Will it work? For the Marxocrats it must. If it doesn't, what does that say about their hope of stopping Rick Perry who refuses to back down from his charge of "Ponzi Scheme"?

And not just the Marxocrat demogogues are being dramatically tested today. What about Romney, Karl Rove, even Monica's hero Dick Cheney, who have blasted Perry for daring to use terms like "Ponzi Scheme"?

If the Dems lose the NY 9th today, it won't be only the usual suspects who will feel the pain.

OMG! For Marx's sake, the Democrats have to win.

Ron Paul did not help, when he mentioned leaving uninsured people to die in a coma. Seems a little like picking on the helpless, without even thinking of doing anything else. Before they invoke the necessity for triage, how about considering shaking a few shekels out of the system - making health care more reasonable for every individual; then, on an emergency basis, discriminating between citizens and non-citizens felons and law biding people, drug addicts and those who are clean.

At first blush how about moving medical people out of their expensive palaces?

Would the O'Reilly/Monica Factor be interested in an Air Force scandal involving (1) a leading General (2) a female officer under him (3) the same female alleging she was "kidnapped" in a foreign country (4) the same female, with 100% "disability" and benefits from her "kidnapping," running in a marathon while totally "disabled" (5) this incident compromising the US presence in said country and (6)all this while real soldiers in real wars with real disabilities vegetate or become junkies, awaiting service from the land they served, and the pols (Dem or Rep) who waive flags and say 'thank you for your service'?

Ummah,

This is EXACTLY why they can't forgive a Laura Fermi etc for documenting in hundreds of fascinating pages in her 'MUSSOLINI'how a dude who was immersed in socialism and Marxism all his life became The Godfather of Fascism. It doesn't fit the prog agenda. It doesn't keep their stereotype socialist over here in one box, , and their stereotype fascist over there, in the other box. That confuses their Class War talking points, especially for their targeted simpletons.

Watch how they dance and stumble around the historic record of Benito Mussolini, son of a "revolutionary socialist" who preached Class War all his life (exactly like the Obamunists and Democrats do today)

J, BOOBUS PROGTROLL///"Huh? We don't need no stinkin' history. What this got to do with Democrats, huh? Watchoo tryin; to say. You be for da rich, like Obama's progressive cronies? Don't you want to feed the poor, so they can eat while they driving their cars, watching their flat screen TV's, enjoying their air-condition and getting free medical care? You want these poor people who make less than $20,000 to pay taxes, so da rich don't have to pay for them? That's what you are, ain't it? You ain't got you no compassion, do you? Bet you ain't a progressive like I am. Yuk-yuk."

For all of you, please entertain me here and tell me what you think this country will be like in 2016 if:

1) Obama gets reelected and the Democrats have the majority once again in both the house and the senate.

2) Obama gets reelected but the Republicans have the majority in the house and the senate.

gringoNOTE: I'm enjoying the vetting of Rick Perry. The progs are the funniest (since they rarely see how they're being gamed.) As for the conservative vetting of Perry, I continue to say, Vet Away. (I posted the 'Gardasil Rick' story here about a week before it made the CNN debate last night.) Michelle Bachmann did a whupping of Perry with that. Too bad she ignored the fact that Perry's "order" had an OPT OUT option. Nobody was forced to take it---unlike Obamacare, where you ARE forced to take the mandate. But Bachmann's a conservative, right? She can probably understand the distinction, right?

Anyway, Andrew McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor who is one of the keenest critics of Islamic Terror in the US, does not seem impressed by the Romney beat Perry view on 'Ponzi Scheme' etc.

Romney: Social Security Is Like a Criminal Fraud

September 12, 2011 10:59 A.M. By Andrew C. McCarthy

Mitt Romney’s demagoguing of Rick Perry for calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme is just mind-boggling. Let’s put aside for a moment Stanley’s invaluable column on the home-page today, demonstrating that, for nearly half a century, reputable commentators across the ideological spectrum have referred to Social Security as a Ponzi scheme due to the undeniable fact that its structure is — and has always been — unsustainable. The fact is that, just last year, Romney himself compared social security to a fraudulent criminal enterprise.

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/276893/romney-social-security-criminal-fraud-andrew-c-mccarthy

gringoNOTE: Mitt Romney: Double-talking and demogoguing? Or just keeping his options open? Surely Ann Coulter would not hail the "likely GOP nominee, Romney" as double-talking demogogue, on par with the non-white Macdaddy, would she?

ps In the post-Debate polls, we should see the gap between Perry and Romney get smaller. Bachmann, Romney, Paul, even Santorum all got in their smack-downs of Perry. But IF Romney numbers don't pick up, and Perry's commanding lead holds, all bets for "Romney the GOP nominee" will be off, at least at the Gringo Advisory Board. Even the NY Times assistance can do just so much for Mitt.

Happy to oblige.

1 - Much to Obama's chagrin, he will have to start acting like a Democrat, as much as it will kill him and his GOP handlers. He won't be able to veto anything, the Democrats will override it. We'll get a public option, tax rates on the rich finally returned to 1990 levels for starters, eventually to 1950 levels. The limitation on the length of the Presidency will be overturned and Obama will be re-elected for eight more years on top of the first eight. Basically, the GOP will dwindle away to a party of a handful of rabid racists that no one will identify with. Fully half the party in both houses of Congresses will switch over to the DNC during the twelve years, leaving the party of the rich and corporate fascists bereft and dead.

2 - Government will be decimated, because GOP will control all government. All social services will be scrapped, tax cuts for rich will continue, wars will continue, middle class and unions will disappear.

3 - See above. Obama IS GOP and has been FROM DAY ONE.

4 - Gridlock. Democrats will prevent GOP President from accomplishing anything, however he will just sign signing statement after signing statement as complete dictator of the country, further decimating government with corrupt Supreme Court backup.

Because of this, option 1 is what we're going to get. The American People aren't HALF as stupid as the GOP thinks.

For the naive, especially "conservatives," who think that Perry, or any GOP-er, is going to take everybody's entitlements away, or even could without much of the country burning down.... It's OK for Libs to spout bunkum and paste PC factoids that tell da truthiness, since they don't have anything else. Without Class War Terror, as every Marxist knows, even if their idiots don't know it, the socialists can't herd the cattle into the pens waiting for them. As the socialists know, you don't have to be a genius to herd cattle. They scare pretty easily. You only need the will to herd them......Ask any Democrat 'cowboy.' The Dems are the real 'cowboys.' You're surprised? Nobody thinks the Dems are the cowboys? Yes, but who thinks?

/////I still have the question out there: If it is a Ponzi scheme, why would he want to “fix” it? That’s not the usual way Ponzi schemes are treated when they’re exposed.

whatcat on September 12, 2011 at 2:24 PM

May this may help answer that question.

Perry has the unique experience of working with a retirement system that is the twin of Social Security. It is working. Baby Boomers not a problem. Future benefit assured. Paid benefits considerably more that those current paid by Social Security.

When Congress created the Social Security system they allowed academia to create their own system as long as it provided the same benefit.

Teachers in Texas obviously understood politicans well enough to know that they would not be able to resist the temptation of all that money, and elected to opt out of Social Security.

The teachers created a retirement system that was the twin to Social Security, with one key difference. An admendment was added to the State Constitution that insured its funds were not borrowed or used. That also means that it was not saddled with other social programs like SSI or SS disablity and other social welfare drains. nor can someone that has not paid into the retirement fund, receive any benefits.

Teachers still pay all the other payroll taxes but the retirement/social security is paid to the Teacher Retirement.

The Texas Teacher retirement funds are invested and act much like an annuity where the more you pay in the more you get back when you retire. This is the teacher’s own money that they are getting back. I assume that Bush had something like this in mind and was derailed in short order. Maybe Perry does as well.
The stickler is cutting the unmentionalble welfare entitlements that the SS funds were borrowed to support and continue to do so.

I guess you don’t take taxes away from Congress without punishment. Texas teachers have no right to any Social Security benifits, even disablity that their retirement system does not have, even though an illegal can get full benefits and disability as soon as they get here. If the teacher works a second job or has or is self employeed and pays the social security tax they are still denied any benefits of Social Security, unless they give up their Texas retirement benefit. In otherwords the SS taxes teacher pay in are confiscated. SS still sends them an annual report listing how much the government confiscated.

The are some other differences as a result of keeping the politicians and everyone else out of the retirement cookie jar.

The results are a larger living benefit than SS retirees recieve.

There is the option of having the benefit continue to a spouse if the retiree dies.

There is a ten thousand dollar death benefit paid to the beneficiary. This does not stop benefits to a surving spouse.

Teachers entering the teaching profession are assured they will have a retirement benefit when they retire, requardless of what happens to Social Security.

Maha Rushie today warns Romney and Bachmann to lay of the Ponzi attacks on Perry because they have too many Ponzi-like skeletons already in their own closets… plus it plays into the hands of the leftists. I agree with that.

Perry’s Ponzi scheme is to social security as Palin’s death panels was to Øbamacare. It sets the terms of debate.

Perry’s rhetoric is also enormously helpful because it’s generating this conversation, just as he hoped.
Hopefully Palin will be a Perry campaign consultant.

Why does it make folks so angry to hear the truth? Communications consultant and former RNC research director Jeff Berkowitz has a theory. “The reason it’s so controversial is because it’s so exactly true,” Berkowitz said to The Daily Caller. “The more you expose the uncertainty, the more people become concerned about the safety of their investment.”

As I’ve written before, Perry’s comments aren’t problematic because they’re false: They’re problematic because Social Security is a popular program, because “the people want their treats” and because other politicians are willing to continue to pander. But Perry’s rhetoric is also enormously helpful because it’s generating this conversation, just as he hoped.

gringoNOTE: So I repeat: Today's election in NYC for Weiner seat will say as much about a Perry as it does Obama. If Dems win, it would indicate that voters still go for Class War terror tactics. That's a plus for Obama, and the "wisdom" of Karl Rove and Mitt Romney, a minus for Perry. If the Dems lose, it's the reverse, a loss for Obama, a win for Perry and a political earthquake (maybe a 5.9)

The Vote That Delayed Obama’s Speech

By JENNIFER STEINHAUER

WASHINGTON – Last week there was a small hoo-ha over choosing a day for President Obama to address a joint session of Congress. Mr. Obama wanted to give his jobs speech on Wednesday, the same night as a Republican presidential debate. But he was rebuffed by John A. Boehner, the House speaker, who said late votes on Wednesday would prohibit an ample security sweep.

There was in fact one roll call vote Wednesday night: “Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the District of Columbia Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run

4 Conservative politicians from the south did not attend his speech on Thursday.

BULL-SHEET
Just move to a GOP-controlled state like AZ...They just cut 186,000 people off of Medicare without warning, reduced Cash assistance (second time in five years) without warning to the TRULY needy, and cut off (without warning) those who have been receiving benefits for more than 24 months.

The state also cut corporate taxes, reduced the employer's share of ui tax to an all-time low, and charge a $25 fee to visit an inmate in the private prison system. Unemployment remains virtually unchanged at 9.4% for five years.. GOP heaven, huh?

Karen Momme

Regarding Rick Perry...the detail the media, all of them, are neglecting regarding the InState Tuition for Illegals in Texas is that he stated ...
"The law, which has since been emulated in other states, makes in-state tuition available for children of illegal immigrants who have lived in the state for three years, graduated from a Texas high school and sign an affidavit that they will get on track to get legal residency and U.S. citizenship."
isnt that kinda what we want ? to help those who are illegal who have been here who WANT TO BECOME CITICZENS and hopefully future TAX PAYERS ? or is it a problem because a republican is doing it... instead of just making promises that if you vote for me I will give you more government entitlements.
