Well, that was weird.
Those of us who live on the eastern seaboard got a little lunchtime shake, rattle, and roll yesterday when an unusually strong earthquake struck, sending a powerful shock from Georgia to Canada. Fortunately no major damage or injuries were sustained. It was bizarre, though, to see areas more accustomed to hurricanes experience a more west coast phenomenon. Speaking of hurricanes, we're supposed to get a major one of those at the end of the week. When do the locusts arrive?
The political plague has already struck President Obama. He was on the golf course on Martha's Vineyard when the quake hit and took the call about it from the White House on the green. For him, the more important temblor is the one seen in his poll numbers. Gallup now has him at a paltry 38% job approval with a 54% disapproval. Rasmussen has him with a Strongly Disapprove of 45%, which is his highest Strongly Disapprove level yet. Most of the disapproval stems from his gross mishandling of the economy, of course. But there is a strong whiff of Carteresque weakness wafting around Obama now, the stench of which is very difficult to shake. Just ask George W. Bush.
Meanwhile, the revolutionary earthquake continues to sweep the Arab world, with violence and chaos running rampant in Libya and Syria. Before we celebrate these alleged forces of freedom fighting for their "rights" in these places, keep in mind that the alternative to the murderous dictators could actually be worse: power vacuums, tribal warfare, humanitarian crises, the seizing of power by al Qaeda terrorists, other brutal extremists, and/or Muslim Brotherhood militants. This is what is unfolding in Egypt now. Hard tyranny can easily be replaced with a more "happy face" but just as ruthless tyranny. And Team Obama is doing little to nothing to guide these revolts toward successor regimes that would be pro-Western and pro-American.
Earthquakes are rumbling all around us. We'd better hold on tight.
Conservatives in a fit because Obama spoke to children:

Conservative media take note: Reagan preached tax cut gospel to America’s students
September 03, 2009 1:09 pm ET by Matt Gertz
Putting aside possible ulterior motives, the conservative freak-out over President Obama’s planned speech to students urging them to stay in school and work hard is due to fears that Obama will use his platform as an opportunity to push his agenda on unsuspecting students. Ironically, that’s exactly what President Reagan did two decades ago.
On November 14, 1988, Reagan addressed and took questions from students from four area middle schools in the Old Executive Office Building. According to press secretary Marlin Fitzwater, the speech was broadcast live and rebroadcast by C-Span, and Instructional Television Network fed the program “t o schools nationwide on three different days.” Much of Reagan’s speech that day covered the American “vision of self-government” and the need “to keep faith with the unfinished vision of the greatness and wonder of America” but in the middle of the speech, the president went off on a tangent about the importance of low taxes:
Bush spoke to children twice!
How dare he!

Ann Coulter, another dumb blonde on the right! Thinks we bombed Egypt!
Isn't Sue Lowden who said that people should be able to pay their doctors with chickens also a blonde?
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20003163-503544.html
What about Sharon Angle who said that people should solve their problems concerning the government with guns? Thinks she's a blonde.
Now, Sarah Palin, whose husband told a lady in California that the reason why Sarah quit being the governor is because she has bills to pay.
Think that was from the San Franciso Cronicle. Saw the video, though. She's a brunette.
And, Bachmann who said that she is proud to be from Waterloo, Iowa. Since John wayne was from there.
Actually, it was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
Also, a brunette.

Gringoman,
Been doing a bit of thinking and came to some preliminary conclusions. I'll back Perry despite his god awful stance on the immigration issues. He is not my first choice to say the least. Out of all the candidates currently in the field, Bachmann comes closest to what I want in a candidate. But I'm a realist. I know Bachmann dosen't have what it takes to overcome the SLIME onslaught that confronts her. That said, if Sarah Palin enters the race, I will back her to the hilt. I think she is by far the best prescription for what ails America. She is the best qualified to us out of the liberal malaise that has been hanging over our once proud nation like a thick layer of toxic smog ever since the later half of Bush the elder's presidency. I truly beleive Sarah Palin - and only Sarah Palin - can restore all the positives Ronald Reagan engendered in the American people.

Storm Warning
By mjfellright
With Hurricane Irene bearing down on the east coast I, as someone who ”enjoyed” the hurricane experience while residing in New Orleans, offer one bit of advice: Board up the windows, load up your kids and pets and get the heck out of the way.
That being said, there’s a much bigger, far more dangerous storm heading our country’s way which must be respected, and against which preventative steps must be taken. It’s the category five economic storm about to broadside and overwhelm the United States of America. A distinctively unique and “progressive” combination of oppressive taxation, business hostile regulations and big government socialist programs are alighning in such a way as to render America’s economy impotent and incapable of sustaining the economy and lifestyle to which Americans are long accustomed.
One of the most fallacious policies of the current White House is their recently announced policy of halting the deportion of illegal aliens and granting work visas to those deemed by self imagined and self appointed elites as worthy of remaining in America. Despite the fact that the Dream Act failed to pass in Congress, and that millions of Americans out of work, it’s the considered opinion of unelected bureaucrats that swelling the “progressive” ranks through back door amnesty is more important than ensuring the economic stabliity and viability of natural born Citizens and legal immigrants.
If this policy is not reversed, with people like Jeffery Immelt shipping good paying jobs overseas, ”progressives” will be responsible for condemning Americans to competing against illegal aliens for minimum wage jobs in perpetuity.
Do ”progressives” really want to go down in history as the first to condemn Americans to a reduced standard of living while ensuring diminished opportunity for the next generation? Unless and until we reverse the job killing policies of ”progressives” this will be our fate.

This One Could go Right or Left . . . . . .
Did you ever think that God has already made his choice? That the heaven bound chosen ones have already been escorted there? Which is only right. It is as God promised.
Yes, the rest of us are here to face the chaos to come and meet the total implosion of life and civilization as we know it. It is really the best way for God to go about it, to avoid all the jealousy, bickering, confusion and anger that will naturally occur when people finally glean that they aren’t one of the special ones. The civilized people—the ones who “did all the right things” to deserve heaven will not be able to fathom why they were not chosen. They will go screaming mad, quickly lose their way and tumble into the darkness, howling like wolves.
What is to become of the rest of us you ask?
Extinction, my friend, extinction of the most honorable sort. Yes we paid the Piper, we played our various roles and now it is time to leave the stage.
But you must know. Actors don’t go to heaven. They have other appointments, other destinies to fulfill.
Charlie Sheen is not too far off. He simply lacks the brain function that allows one to unify warring factions within oneself.
He feels that he is obligated to do it himself and thoroughly believes that it is criminal to ask for any sort of serious assistance.
It is the philosophy of the doomed.
Jack Flynn/2011

What we have in America at this moment is mass hysteria of the ultimate sort—a thousand times greater than the hysteria generated in Nazi Germany. Sound bites filled with deception and lies have brow beaten and bullied them into submission. The economic worries, cultural global wars and disasters have turned them into instant vacuums for despotic types who promise nothing more than the dubious pleasure of hanging on to a banner and placing all their faith and confidence in him.
In other words, the American public has never been more ignorant, gullible and/or vulnerable.

And Hunstman, as a Mormon, will never make it past the antiChristian fundamentalists in the hick/southern states, and Ron Paul will never overcome his drunk Peter O'Toole swinging from the rafters image.
El Marko Rubio is too young and untried, and most Hispanics are too smart to see through the desperate pandering that would be. They know the GOP are the enemy and always will be, with the sole exception of Jeb Bush.
And let's face it, NJ's governor is too fat and he knows it and doesn't CARE.
That leaves Trump. Despite the MSM hysteria around him, I wouldn't count him out. He still rates highest amongst independents.
I still think he's the only one who could take Obama, and by more than a nose.
I think he knows it too. And think of the ratings on "West Wing Apprentice" and I am NOT KIDDING.
Perry? Perry is a Dubyah Joke II, saddled with an obvious antiChrist image right out of the movies, the only way he beats Obama is if he REALLY IS THE ANTICHRIST.
America doesn't want to go there.
Correction: All of America save the 25% of the population GOP doesn't want to go there.

Media Blackout: US in Yet Another Illegal War ... in Yemen
Friday, August 26, 2011 – by Staff Report
Airstrike Kills 8 Suspected Militants in Yemen ... Officials in Yemen say an airstrike has killed eight militants in the country's south. The officials said Thursday's strike targeted a position held by militants with suspected links to al-Qaida in Yemen. On Wednesday, clashes between Yemeni forces and militants near Zinjibar in southern Abyan province killed at least 30 militants and seven soldiers. Militants have taken control of several areas in southern Yemen during the six-month uprising pressing for President Ali Abdullah Saleh's resignation. – Voice of America
Dominant Social Theme: The US is helping its Yemeni allies fight back against the terror threat.
Free-Market Analysis: How many wars are too many? Unnoticed largely in the press of larger events and obviously downplayed by the controlled Western media, the US and its allies are pursuing yet ANOTHER aggressive, illegal war – this one in Yemen.

My recent research indicates that Rick Perry is a very good campaigner, perhaps outstanding and the equal of a Palin or Reagan. Little doubt that he can leave Romneycare in the dust there. That said, there are some indications that debate is not his forte, at least in one video, where he gets mocked by the college kiddies. Romney can be ginned up to give a good showing in debate.
Conclusion: All eyes will be on Romney and Perry in coming debates. They are both, unlike "Obama the Undertaker," pro-business. Romney still has to do libwork, i.e. try to deflate the "Texas boom" and/or Perry's role in it. Perry has to make clear what a double-dealing flip-flopper Corporate Charley is Mitt Romneycare. Romney must try to show that Romneycare was not an inspiration for Ombamanationcare. Perry has to keep him from getting away with that.
