Dumb and Dumber

Two top Democrats just stepped in it. Let's review.

First, the new head of the Democrat National Committee, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (that voice! that hair!) was asked last week about illegal immigration. As you read her response, remember that it's ILLEGAL immigration about which she's talking:

"The Republican solution that I've seen in the last three years is that we should just pack them all up and ship them back to their own countries and that in fact IT SHOULD BE A CRIME and we should arrested them all."

I added the italics, although her stupidity is so glaring that it really doesn't need the extra emphasis.

Compounding her ridiculousness, she went on to say:

"If it were up to the candidates for president on the Republican side, we would be driving foreign cars; they would have let the auto industry in America go down the tubes."

The Hill newspaper quickly reported that Wasserman Schultz owns a 2010 Infiniti FX35, a Japanese car whose parent company is Nissan. The newspaper cited Florida motor vehicle records.

Maybe she's had one too many perms. Or maybe she's a Far-Left zealot who will lie through her teeth and blow off facts just to get her destructive ideological agenda through.

She wasn't the only Democrat doofus making revealing statements about how they truly feel and what they truly believe.

While giving his Memorial Day speech yesterday at Arlington National Cemetery (you know---the thing he did before hitting the Back Nine), President Obama said this:

"This day is about you, and the fallen heroes that you loved. And it's a day that has meaning for all Americans, including me. It's one of my highest honors, it is my most solemn responsibility as President, to serve as Commander-in-Chief of ONE OF the finest fighting forces the world has ever known."

ONE OF the finest fighting forces the world has ever known? Seriously? Out of the mouth of the American Commander-in-Chief. Unbelievable.

Just 17 months until we can rid ourselves of these Far-Left, maniacally ideological, and hysterically destructive doofi.

Over the past year or so, there has been a lot of cheerleading the U.S. economy---talking up whatever relatively positive signs that appear---as a way to change the psychology around it. The thinking goes: if the perception grows that the economy is growing, then the economy will actually grow. That wishful thinking approach to a healthy, robust economy is clearly not working.

The Associated Press reports the facts today:

"Stocks fell in morning trading Thursday, a day after their first gain this week, following disappointing news about jobs and economic growth.

"The Labor Department said more people applied for unemployment benefits last week, the first increase in three weeks. The number of people seeking benefits rose by 10,000 to 424,000, more than analysts were expecting.

"Applications are above the 375,000 level that indicates sustainable job growth. Applications peaked at 659,000 during the recession. Employers stepped up hiring this spring, but some economists worry that rising applications indicate a slowdown in hiring.

"The Commerce Department said the economy grew at a sluggish 1.8 percent in the January-March quarter as surging gasoline prices and sharp cutbacks in government spending overshadowed strong corporate earnings. Consumer spending grew at just half the rate of the previous quarter, and less than previously estimated. A surge in imports widened the U.S. trade deficit.

"Sales of homes in some stage of foreclosure declined in the first three months of the year, but they still accounted for 28 percent of all home sales - a share nearly six times higher than what it would be in a healthy housing market."

This looks like another perfect economic storm: anemic growth, weak job creation, "astronomically high" home foreclosure rates, low consumer confidence. The Democrats had several years to get this economy going, and their approach has clearly failed. They've given us a massive expansion of government, unprecedented spending, record-breaking deficits and debt, and unaffordable socialized medicine, and the result has been a floundering, barely-there economy. The Democrats had their chance. They have failed.

If the Republicans are smart (which is a big "if"), they will lay out more than just an austerity agenda. As critical as spending cuts and entitlement reforms are, they need to be coupled with a strong growth agenda: tax cuts and reform. If they give voters more of their own money back as well as a positive message about economic growth and strength, they cannot lose----especially when voters compare that agenda with the utter economic destruction the Left has wrought.

May I suggest a new mantra for the GOP: Grow, baby, grow.

And Bush Was Supposed To Be The Idiot?

President Obama has been on a weeklong trip to Europe, ahead of the G8 meeting. In 2008, Obama The Messiah spoke to throngs in Berlin. In 2011, Obama The Mortal showed up in Dublin and London.

Some of my favorite highlights from the Bama's trip so far:

His presidential limo, nicknamed "The Beast," got stuck on a ramp in Dublin. It's supposed to withstand a terrorist or nuclear attack, but an exit ramp? Not so much. If Bush's limo had bottomed out while abroad, David Letterman would have a yearlong field day.

Michelle Obama got caught in the wind, which blew her hair up into something resembling Ed Grimley ("I must say!") or Cameron Diaz's character in "There's Something About Mary."

The Bama went to a pub, swilled some Guinness, and made what reporters called "an Irish face." I'm Irish. I have no idea what that is.

He then moved on to London, where he played ping-pong with British Prime Minister David Cameron. No word if beer was involved.

He screwed up his toast to Queen Elizabeth. (Hey Liz: that's still better than that God-awful iPod loaded with his own speeches that he gave you last time, isn't it?)

And he signed the guestbook at Westminster Abbey, "Barack Obama, 24 May 2008." 2008? That's like saying the U.S. has 57 states. Oh wait, he already did that... It seems it's time for the Bama's "handlers" to replace his batteries.

An interesting aside: the Left was aghast that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke forthrightly to Obama in the Oval Office last week. How dare he defend his nation to Obama's face?! The horror!

Meanwhile, they all laughed when an Iraqi journalist threw his shoe at President Bush.

All of this goes to show that Obama is neither a myth nor a legend. He's just a man, who has cut an incredibly destructive path through the American economy. He is not the Obama of Berlin 2008. (Even HE wasn't the Obama of 2008.) He is the Obama of the blown toast to the Queen and the wrong date by three years.

Obama is often a doofus, but according to the Left-wing media, President Bush, Governor Palin and other conservatives are the only doofi out there. We know better. And we actually know what year it is.

The Chicago Way

During the 2008 campaign, the American people once again became well-acquainted with "the Chicago way." Scandals and corruption involving the then-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, the then-Chicago mayor, Richard Daley, Chicago-area Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., another Chicago-area Congressman Rahm Emanuel, Chicago "businessman" Tony Rezko, and allegations of graft and selling political seats and favors burst onto the national stage. Not everyone in Chicago is corrupt, of course, but the people who get to the top of the power ladder there must bathe in the corruption at some point. It was odd that somehow, Barack Obama miraculously came out of this morass without the mud of scandal flicked on him. Blago, Rezko, Jackson: they all got nailed, but somehow, miraculously, Obama floated above it all, an angel amidst the devils. Yeah, right.

Once he got elected, Obama promptly installed not only Chicago (Emanuel as first White House Chief of Staff, Mayor Daley's brother Bill Daley as second Chief of Staff, Chicagoans and BFFs David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett as "Special Advisers"), he installed the Chicago Way. In addition to the standard-issue corruption, the Chicago Way involves intimidating, browbeating, and threatening your opponents until they retreat, weakened and destroyed.

Team Obama has, of course, done this to its political opponents from Day One: excluding the Republican leadership from White House meetings, prohibiting Republicans from debate or offering amendments on key bills, going to war with Fox News and talk radio, enlisting George Soros and his multitude of well-funded operations to bring pressure on conservative media, freezing out newspapers like the San Francisco Chronicle and Boston Herald which they believe have been too critical. The list goes on.

Now, in preparation for the 2012 presidential campaign, they have taken the strong-arm tactics a step further.

According to Politico.com:

"The White House has named Jesse Lee to a new position within its communications department titled Director of Progressive Media & Online Response. According to The Huffington Post, Lee will essentially be responsible for building up Obama's online presence as he prepares for his re-election bid, and squashing any negative stories:

"The post is a new one for this White House. Rapid response has usually been outsourced to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), if not done on an ad-hoc basis by administration officials. And it signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive defense of the president and his policies as his re-election campaign gears up."

"If you're going to post something online about Obama that isn't true, Lee is going to be the one to handle you. Considering that Lee's first tweet about his new position included a picture of The Terminator, we suggest you watch what you say OR BE DESTROYED."

So, as we can see, nothing has changed in the Obama Gangland White House. They are street fighters, and they fight to win. The Republicans might want to make a note of that.

There is another interesting point on this: Team Obama seems ready to anticipate the kind of campaign the GOP SHOULD run. The Republicans must make 2012 a referendum ON OBAMA and his DESTRUCTIVE RECORD: the massive expansion of government, the unprecedented spending, the record-breaking deficits and debt, and socialized medicine. If the GOP makes the election all about Obama and his utter failures as well as his destructive policies, they could run Lassie and win.

Team Obama knows this, which is why they've got this web guy ready to hit anyone who might critique Obama's dismal, nightmare record. Republicans must blow right past this twit and press the case: 2012 isn't going to be about Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty or whomever might get the GOP nomination. It will be about Obama and his record of economic destruction. He is going to use the Chicago Way to beat it back. We must use the American way to defeat it.

It's Just Joe!

Vice President Joe Biden is the king of the gaffe, the buffoonish crack, the master of the inappropriate. Everyone knows this.

That's why so many people thought he was "just bein' Joe" the other night when he blurted out to big Democrat donors that they ought to keep him in mind for president in 2016.

According to Politico.com:

"Vice President Joe Biden surprised a gathering of donors in Cincinnati last week when he floated the prospect of his succeeding President Barack Obama in the White House.

"Biden, who started in the Senate young and would be just 70 in 2012, raised the possibility unprompted during a wide-ranging conversation at the May 19 dinner with major Democratic Party donors, a source in the room said.

"The Vice President, who has never ruled in or out running in six years, told the group he hadn't made up his mind, and cited both political conditions and his own health as relevant factors.

"But the spontaneous suggestion caught the attention of at least some in the audience, said the guest, "given he volunteered that without prompting...and given the audience.""

What fresh hell is this?

I wish this were a case of "Joe bein' Joe," but I think he's serious. Of course, if he and his boss wins re-election, the country will be destroyed by 2016, so there's not much more to talk about. On the upside, the "Saturday Night Live" skits would write themselves.

Bibi Schools Obama

In his speech about the Middle East this week, President Obama just couldn't leave well enough alone. He had gotten an enormous outpouring of support after ordering the killing of Osama bin Laden. He had scored a major achievement for the United States and for his presidency, and he got a modest uptick in popular support because of it.

It was in the context of that extraordinary national security accomplishment that Obama delivered his address on the Middle East. He began the speech with admirable themes of promoting "reform" and "democracy" in the region. In fact, that part of the speech could have been written and delivered by President George W. Bush, whose post-9/11 MidEast policy was based on those pillars. We now know what the Obama Doctrine is. It's called the Bush Doctrine.

The last few minutes of the address, however, brought the usual Obama destructive bombshell. After speaking clearly and relatively consistently about what American policy will be going forward, he just couldn't help himself. He veered into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and sent our ally careening off a cliff. First, he spoke about the Israelis and the Palestinians in a morally equivalent way. Second, he glossed over the dangerous recent actions of Israel's most mortal enemies, Iran and Syria. And third, he openly endorsed the Palestinians' demand that Israel withdraw to the 1967 lines, a demand that Israel has long rejected as far too threatening to their national security and territorial integrity. U.S. policy has been to not deal in the 1967 terms, either in public or in private---until this week, when Obama radically broke with one of our closest allies and asked them to commit national suicide.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in Washington to meet with Obama, was having none of it. (They're having lunch today. Awkward!) Within minutes of Obama's speech, Netanyahu released the following scathing statement:

"Israel appreciates President Obama's commitment to peace," the response began, curtly. "Israel believes that for peace to endure between Israelis and Palestinians, the viability of a Palestinian state cannot come at the expense of the viability of the one and only Jewish state."

"That is why Prime Minister Netanyahu expects to hear a reaffirmation from President Obama of U.S. commitments made to Israel in 2004, which were overwhelmingly supported by both Houses of Congress."

"Among other things," Netanyahu reminded Obama, "those commitments relate to Israel not having to withdraw to the 1967 lines which are both indefensible and which would leave major Israeli population centers in Judea and Samaria beyond those lines."

"Those commitments also ensure Israel's well-being as a Jewish state by making clear that Palestinian refugees will settle in a future Palestinian state rather than in Israel."

"Without a solution to the Palestinian refugee problem outside the borders of Israel, no territorial concession will bring peace."
"Equally, the Palestinians, and not just the United States, must recognize Israel as the nation state of the Jewish people, and any peace agreement with them must end all claims against Israel."

"Prime Minister Netanyahu will make clear that the defense of Israel requires an Israeli military presence along the Jordan River."

"Prime Minister Netanyahu will also express his disappointment over the Palestinian Authority's decision to embrace Hamas, a terror organization committed to Israel's destruction, as well as over Mahmoud Abbas's recently expressed views which grossly distort history and make clear that Abbas seeks a Palestinian state in order to continue the conflict with Israel rather than end it."

In other words, Bibi told Obama to sit on it. And that, my friends, is how it's done.

This morning, the Far Left is close to scoring a huge judicial victory. They must be stopped.

"Today the Senate Democrats will force a cloture vote on Ninth Circuit nominee Goodwin Liu, President Obama's most radical judicial nominee and the man whom Obama would dearly like to make the first Asian-American Supreme Court justice. Liu's left-wing agenda and outrageously activist view of the law makes this showdown a classic test of the bipartisan "extraordinary circumstances" standard for when judicial nominees can be filibustered. The standard originated in the 2005 Gang of 14 agreement.

"Liu is a 40 year old Berkeley law professor whose vocal and unabashed championing of judicial activism has made him a star on the legal left. Liu "envisions the judiciary . as a culturally situated interpreter of social meaning" and believes judges should create constitutional rights to "distributive justice," including welfare rights to "education or housing or medical care."

"Liu has expressed left-wing views on virtually every hot-button issue likely to come before him on the bench, including the view that Americans are obligated to pay reparations for slavery, an obligation he would likely read into the Constitution. Liu is too far to the left for even Rahm Emanuel, who advised the President against making this nomination."
