The Oracle Speaks

So tonight we'll sit in Orwellian awe as we get treated to another shimmering Obama speech. I hope he answers the questions about Libya we've all been asking for a week now. Including why his administration told us this "kinetic military action" would last a "matter of days" and we're already going on a matter of weeks.

Last week, we posted a series of questions we'd like answered. Here are some more offbeat ones we'd also like to hear him address:

1. In the early days of the upheaval in Libya, Muammar Qaddafi claimed that al Qaeda was behind the unrest. Everyone laughed at the idea (except for me a few weeks ago on "The McLaughlin Group.") Now it seems that al Qaeda is all over Libya like white on rice, fanning the revolt in order to overthrow Qaddafi and get Libya all to themselves. Afghanistan pre-9/11 was a backwater thousands of miles away from Europe and the United States, and still al Qaeda was able to inflict enormous death and destruction from there. Imagine if al Qaeda grabs Libya, just a stone's throw from its main targets? What do you have to say about that possibility, Mr. President? And did you know about al Qaeda's presence in Libya before you ordered the "kinetic military action?" Was Qaddafi right?

2. We're not dependent on Libyan oil, but our European allies are. Are we in there to protect their oil supply? (Holy Halliburton!)

3. If Qaddafi falls, then what? If he doesn't, then what?

4. How long do you think we'll be involved there in some form? Are we looking at months or years? Shall we settle on a war analogy now? Vietnam? Iraq?

5. Your administration says it will not intervene in other places where dictators are also killing their own people: Iran, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain. Please give us a good answer as to why. Follow ups: those nations are more strategically important to the U.S. than is Libya. Are you aware of that? Do you not know the basic diplomatic and strategic dictum: never tell the enemy what you are prepared to do, and never tell him what you are not prepared to do? This is Commander-in-Chief 101.

6. Has it dawned on you that your Secretary of State may be setting you up? You two have hated each other since the 2008 primaries. You thought it would be safer to have her in the tent than conspiring outside it. But has it occurred to you that she and her Significant Other can just as easily plot against you while standing right next to you?

gman, I attempted to response last evening, long drawn out explanation about my feelings about gestapo like rule at every level of gvn't. Local citizens intimidation by police presence at city council meeting to keep order and verbal actions against elected "representatives", where citizens can be escorted out of their own building cause the entitled can't take the heat or stand the TRUTH.....

It seems like he spend the vast majority of the time congratulating himself on his great leadership skills and boasting about all the lives he saved. It reminds me of his economic policy and all the jobs he created and "saved". No one can prove either how many lives he saved or how many jobs he saved so he can go around blabbing that he is the great savior.

I didn't hear anything about going to Congress to obtain approval. He didn't address that issue at all. He owed it to the American people to either state he was going to Congress to get ex-post facto approval, or explain why he doesn't need approval.

Secondly, I'm concerned that he stated originally Qaddafi had to go, then in order to get Arab approval for the no-fly zone he abandoned the Qaddafi mission and agreed to totally change the policy at the drop of a dime. Is that leadership?

And finally, he never addressed the cost and how it effects the other two wars we are involved in. We have a $1.6 trillion dollar deficit this year and the DEMs refuse to cut spending whatsoever, and he refuses to address the cost.

In the final analysis, you are right Monica, this speech didn't answer any questions and was a waste of 30 minutes of our lives.

I am on another blog, kept by radio hostess Monica Crowley. We have an army of lib-trolls spamming things up and the hostess takes no steps to clean up the blog a little.

I think that the way trolls are treated is exemplary here on MB, but we simply don't have as many Conservatives posting as frequently as you guys do here.

Trolls on MB are quickly put in their place, whereas it seems that we have at least one who is a "professional", judging by the time and volume s/he/it puts into disrupting our conversations.

Libs seem to know to attack our Conservative blogs because that makes a bad impression of the casual surfer, whom libs don't want to make up their own minds.
