Bankrupt States

Government spending doesn’t create jobs. Private capital creates jobs. Without making profits, a business moves to where it can make a profit.

Some states are on the brink of bankruptcy. Why? Because deficit spending, caused some of them to raise taxes and fees. The hike in the costs of taxes and fees, coupled with additional restrictions placed on profitable practices through ever increasing regulations, caused businesses to move out of these states. Business taxes the states would have otherwise collected from the moved businesses evaporate, as do the personal income taxes that would have been collected from former employees of the relocated businesses. Rather than taking in taxes from working people, the already financially strapped states are paying out unemployment insurance. Add to that the unfunded costs of Ponzi scheme public union pension funds, and you have the perfect recipe for state bankruptcy.

Transfer that recipe from a single state to Washington DC and you have a major problem.

Have you ever heard the phrase: If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time to try something else? If increased taxes, fees and regulations are driving business away; the logical alternative is: to lower taxes, cut fees and reduce regulations. More importantly, eliminate the root of the problem. Stop spending money you don’t have and you won’t “need” to raise taxes. When your expenditures exceed your income, cut spending. While you’re at it, eliminate the unnecessary costs of union labor in the public sector. The extortion of public employee collective bargaining practices, combined with their quid pro quo relationship with politicians of votes in exchange for non-stop escalating salaries and unfunded pension liabilities placed on the back of the state, and by extension, the taxpayer, is a formula for long term economic disaster.

Keep a weather eye on the states of Illinois and New Jersey. Illinois’s taking the higher tax route, while New Jersey is going in the opposite direction. The federalist laboratory of state experimentation will be quite instructive to the rest of the country.

I’m willing to bet that the “progressive” party and their multiple media Pavlovian lapdogs will be salivating over… I mean editorializing on behalf of Illinois.

My money’s on New Jersey.

Civility Watch: Palm Beach Post columnist smears Tea Party parents of Giffords’ doctorby Michelle Malkin on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 7:00am

Wow. Just wow.

Palm Beach Post columnist Jose Lambiet is using the Tucson massacre to attack the parents of one of Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ surgeons because they happen to be GOP donors and Tea Party supporters.

Never mind the inanity of holding a son responsible for his mother and father’s ideological views and campaign contributions.

The idea of attacking the parents’ wealth and political activism to mock the doctor and ply the Blame Righty line is just…gross:

The name of Michael Lemole, the University of Arizona neurosurgeon who’s been treating U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ brain injuries since the Jan. 8 shooting, may sound familiar to Palm Beachers.

That’s because Lemole’s mom and pop, heart surgeon Gerald Lemole and his wife, Emily, live in a $7.1 million house on The Island. They also own a more modest $3.5 million house, also in Palm Beach.

And while Michael is saving the life of the moderate Democratic congresswoman, Gerald and Emily are more into the far, far Right — including Tea Party goofball Christine O’Donnell!

According to campaign filings, Lemole’s parents have showered with thousands in contributions — $15,700 in 2010 alone — Tea Party candidates vying for national offices.

Ironically: Among their favorites are some of the very people whose controversial rhetoric and campaigns are said to provide a fertile ground for the likes of Jared Loughner, who allegedly injured Giffords and killed six others in Tucson. (emphasis added)

Gotta love that passive voice to try and escape accountability for trafficking a baseless smear: “Are said to provide.”

But remember…being a Tea Party-bashing liberal means never having to say you’re sorry.

Although some people suspect the deepest levels of the Pentagon involved in the assassination of RFK, I have often wondered how Sirhan Sirhan knew where Kennedy was going to be at the Ambassador.

I understand the general tendency to find a single person responsible for an assassination, but ....

Could it be like the ending to John Edwards campaign - a sudden departure just as the person obtains some serious political traction?

Is it possible that someone knew RFK was not sincere about ending the Vietnam War?

Should we allow Chinese commercials, when we have no access to their media? What takes place in China is almost a complete blackout. We have a very poor idea what is taking place there. We are getting propaganda.
What if the Soviet Union wanted to air commercials of their Olympic athletes. Would that have flown?

Our media do not even interview people who have been in China. We have little idea about how the Chinese think. We, the public, cannot perform due diligence.
Who knows, our money may have been given to sadistic criminals. How are we to know? The mob can make a nice looking commercial.

As outrageous as it seems, the ruling class views the Fort Hood shooting as a small price -- a very small price -- to pay for what makes our nation strong.

Question: What makes our nation strong?

Answer: Diversity.

Diversity is our strength!

President Barry and First Lady, 'Blackie O', fully understand blacks do not compete well (understatement) in a capitalist system. Hence their wearing of red at he State Dinner. As Monica pointed out, it's symbolic of their solidarity with the Chicoms.

Ian

Sorry mates. That should have been Bent, not Dent.

That is a confirm on LA County - no Gov. Charles Bent commemorative plaque.

He was the first governor of the New Mexico territory, scalped by Mexicans and Indians, who were afraid of having to give up their land.

I was surprised to find out you can purchase a house as an illegal in the US, but for financing one must have some forged documents, and it probably helps to have an Hispanic loan officer.

I wonder how many liar loans were of this nature. Guaranteed solvent by the FDIC you know : no hay problema.

LongRifle

In Communist China, the government owns the means of production, all the assests, and all the workers. The ONLY way we can compete as Capitalists is to rid ourselves of the Endangered Species Act, The Marine Mammal Protection Act, The Fish amd Wildlife Service, and the EPA (for starters). When we can drill, grow, fish, graze, and invent in freedom, we have a shot.
Neither Ford nor Edison (to name a couple) could not have invented their products today. Such change is not likely under any government officials in office today or waiting in the wings. Semper Paratus.

Longrifle :

What China is doing to itself is a disaster, and so is what it is doing to the global economy.

There is compelling evidence that the Sichuan earthquake was triggered by a hydroelectric dam built in the near vicinity of a fault, the fluctuating waters levels of which triggered the quake. How many other engineering projects are disasters waiting to happen in China, as they are planned and constructed at breakneck speeds. Hu, you know, is a hydro-engineer. Perhaps someone should pull the plug on this Chinese fire-drill.

How long are people going to tolerate this?

DJ

China can easily be defeated.

All we have to do is force them to allow 250 million sub-Saharan Africans to immigrate there. At the same time, force them to open up NAACP, SPLC, and ACLU offices in all the Chinese cities.

In that event, we Americans can sit back and watch the rapidly ascending China meltdown.

Chinese Stick Finger in America's Eye

Posted by Van Helsing at 8:00 AM | Comments (8)

According to the invitations, the state dinner in honor of communist dictator Hu Jintao Wednesday night was supposed to be a "quintessentially American" evening. Via Michelle Malkin:

Instead, it was quintessentially Obamunist, with America getting spat on while Obama simpered cluelessly:

At the White House State dinner on Jan. 19, about six minutes into his set, [Chinese pianist] Lang Lang began tapping out a famous anti-American propaganda melody from the Korean War: the theme song to the movie "Battle on Shangganling Mountain."
The film depicts a group of "People's Volunteer Army" soldiers who are first hemmed in at Shanganling (or Triangle Hill) and then, when reinforcements arrive, take up their rifles and counterattack the U.S. military "jackals."
The movie and the tune are widely known among Chinese, and the song has been a leading piece of anti-American propaganda by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for decades. CCP propaganda has always referred to the Korean War as the "movement to resist America and help [North] Korea." The message of the propaganda is that the United States is an enemy — in fighting in the Korean War the United States' real goal was said to be to invade and conquer China. The victory at Triangle Hill was promoted as a victory over imperialists. …
"My Motherland" having been played at the White House will be seen as a propaganda triumph in China.
It's not as bad as building a mosque at Ground Zero, but it gets the message across.

"In the eyes of all Chinese, this will not be seen as anything other than a big insult to the U.S.," says Yang Jingduan, a Chinese psychiatrist now living in Philadelphia who had in China been a doctor in the Chinese military. "It's like insulting you in your face and you don't know it, it's humiliating."
The plan to play the song was known in advance, and must have been approved by the ChiCom leadership.

Liberals are no doubt pleased that we've restored America's standing in the world by replacing W with a 90-lb. weakling who gets sand kicked in his face as he rolls out the red carpet for our rivals.

On tips from Conan, AC, BURNING HOT, and Lyle.

Left wing climate of hate and assassination
Jack Cashill

Successful propaganda is composed of equal parts deception and suppression, and the apparatchiks in the mainstream media are much better at the latter.

They may have erred in pushing the Arizona assassination attempt beyond its ideological limits last week, but they succeeded brilliantly a few months earlier in suppressing news of a nearly lethal attempt by a genuine leftist.

In September 2010 Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was scheduled to speak at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City.

At some point, wearing black clothes and a bullet-proof vest, 22 year-old Casey Brezik bolted out of a classroom, knife in hand, and slashed the throat of a dean. As he would later admit, he confused the dean with Nixon.

The story never left Kansas City. It is not hard to understand why. Knives lack the political sex appeal of guns, and even Keith Olbermann would have had a hard time turning Brezik into a Tea Partier.

Indeed, Brezik seems to have inhaled just about every noxious vapor in the left-wing miasma: environmental extremism, radical Islam, anti-capitalism, anti-Zionism and Christophobia, among others.

In his "About Me" box on Facebook, Brezik listed as his favorite quotation one from progressive poster boy, Che Guevara. The quote begins "Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism" and gets more belligerent from there.

On his wall postings, Brezik ranted, "How are we the radical(s) (left) to confront the NEW RIGHT, if we avoid confrontation all together?"

As good as his word, Brezik's marched on Toronto in June 2010 to protest the G20 Summit, where he was arrested, charged, and deported. "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED," he boasted.

Like many on the left, Brezik seemed to have found religion.

In reference to an article about Terry Jones and his proposed Quran burning, Brezik posted on the day before his planned assault, "This is now a Holy war. Scriptures have been desecrated. War U can't handle. Make a choice and quick."

No doubt, Brezik is something of a whack job, but the various rages that he acquired -culminating in Sudden Jihadi Syndrome - are those to which our students are exposed on a daily basis. For the last century or more, it is the progressive fever swamps that have nurtured most of the world's hate and virtually all of its violence, including, paradoxically, radical Islam.

As Casey Berzik cried out with multicultural flair, "El Futuro es La REVOLUCION!" But if an assassin strikes in a media vacuum, and no one hears him, can there ever be a revolution?

DJ I think that pay-prossies-to-proselytize-to-them event was in italy last summer!

What a JOKE! I wish Reagan's bomber pilots hadn't missed when he had the tents bombed.

We should do this sort of thing every now and then to keep them honest. No troops on the ground UNLESS they are free to engage as they see fit and have all the equipment etc they need AND there is some tangible benefit in it for US.

Like making Kuwait and iraq PAY us for their liberation, as Donald Trump mentioned.

All we needed to do in Afghanistan is keep bombing until they hand over bin Laden.

There was absolutely no need o put in troops and leave them hamstruck and unable to properly defend themselves.

Iraq was a HUGE mistake and iran should Thank US for removing their biggest adversary in the region.

Yup another one of those 98,992 - or whatever the number is - things that Bush got right.

Yup. Yep. Time for jeb. He'll get a lot of thing right as well, jes like his brother.
