Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, Mr. President

Last year, at the height of the debate over ObamaCare, abortion became a central issue. Would the ObamaCare legislation allow taxpayer-funded abortions? Obama desperately wanted---needed---the bill to pass and could not allow a sideshow over abortion to derail it. He signed an executive order that at least theoretically banned taxpayer money from funding abortion. With that gesture, he won the support of Congressman Bart Stupak and several other Democrats who claimed that they opposed abortion. And with that, ObamaCare passed.

The Republicans are now running the House, in large part because of huge public opposition to the new law. On Wednesday, the House voted decisively to repeal the whole thing, root and branch. Given the high hurdles this clean repeal faces in the Senate and ultimately in the form of a presidential veto, House Republicans are now turning their attention to dismantling it piece by piece.

They begin with the element that secured its passage: abortion. They have just introduced HR 3, known as the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. (Nothing like meaning what you say and saying what you mean.) It would specifically ban any federal funding for abortion under ObamaCare.

If the GOP is smart, they will pass this and send it to the Senate. Harry Reid will try to kill it. Republicans should pound him every day on it until he's forced to bring it up for a vote. While they're doing that, they should ask Obama to demand that Reid raise it for a vote. After all, Obama said he was on their side. He even signed an executive order last year barring taxpayer dough from paying for abortions.

So, Mr. Obama: put your money where your mouth is. You claimed to oppose this. You put your name on a presidential order. Now it's time to back up the rhetoric with some real, concrete action.

The GOP should force not just Reid's hand, but Obama's. He talked the talk. Now it's time to walk the walk.

Abortion is a non-issue to any TRUE Christian. Christ said nothing about it, even to women he knew were practicing it. Will Islam Be Mentioned in Buffalo Beheader Trial?

"Remember the Muslim immigrant in Buffalo who beheaded his insufficiently submissive wife? The couple, Muzzammil and Aasiya Hassan, had founded an Islamo-informative television station (Bridges TV) designed to combat negative impressions about Islam, e.g. that it fosters violence and misogyny.

The precipitating action of the murder was apparently her filing for divorce, and a few days later Muzzamil Hassan met her at their TV station with two new hunting knives and stabbed her dozens of times before dismembering her body in a way that would prevent her entrance to paradise. A Muslim wives is supposed to be an obedient doormat under the husband, not an independent individual.
It’s been nearly two years since the heinous murder, and the trial has finally started. Hassan is being tried for second-degree murder, which seems an insufficient charge given his obvious planning of the crime. Are District Attorneys afraid of maximum prosecution of Muslim criminals because they fear personal threats from other hostile sons of Allah? Remember that a plea deal was offered to the Arizona honor killer Faleh Almaleki, although it didn’t work out."

Bankrupt States

Government spending doesn’t create jobs. Private capital creates jobs. Without making profits, a business moves to where it can make a profit.

Some states are on the brink of bankruptcy. Why? Because deficit spending, caused some of them to raise taxes and fees. The hike in the costs of taxes and fees, coupled with additional restrictions placed on profitable practices through ever increasing regulations, caused businesses to move out of these states. Business taxes the states would have otherwise collected from the moved businesses evaporate, as do the personal income taxes that would have been collected from former employees of the relocated businesses. Rather than taking in taxes from working people, the already financially strapped states are paying out unemployment insurance. Add to that the unfunded costs of Ponzi scheme public union pension funds, and you have the perfect recipe for state bankruptcy.

Transfer that recipe from a single state to Washington DC and you have a major problem.

Have you ever heard the phrase: If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time to try something else? If increased taxes, fees and regulations are driving business away; the logical alternative is: to lower taxes, cut fees and reduce regulations. More importantly, eliminate the root of the problem. Stop spending money you don’t have and you won’t “need” to raise taxes. When your expenditures exceed your income, cut spending. While you’re at it, eliminate the unnecessary costs of union labor in the public sector. The extortion of public employee collective bargaining practices, combined with their quid pro quo relationship with politicians of votes in exchange for non-stop escalating salaries and unfunded pension liabilities placed on the back of the state, and by extension, the taxpayer, is a formula for long term economic disaster.

Keep a weather eye on the states of Illinois and New Jersey. Illinois’s taking the higher tax route, while New Jersey is going in the opposite direction. The federalist laboratory of state experimentation will be quite instructive to the rest of the country.

I’m willing to bet that the “progressive” party and their multiple media Pavlovian lapdogs will be salivating over… I mean editorializing on behalf of Illinois.
