I was away for a day or two and am late with my tribute to all those who served on D-Day. Unlike our current president, however, I understand that it's better late than never.

Sixty-six years ago yesterday, Operation Overlord began. For 80 blood-soaked days, 2 million men fought for every inch of Normandy in perhaps the most epic and important battle on behalf of freedom the world has ever known. The beaches of Normandy are soaked still with the blood of those who gave everything so that those suffering under the most barbaric of tyrannies could breathe free again, and those of us who came later could enjoy what their extraordinary sacrifices bought for us.

Where was the Bama yesterday? At Ford's Theater, whooping it up with Lionel Richie and Kelly Clarkson. First he blows off Memorial Day services at Arlington to grill veggie burgers in Chicago. And on the 66th anniversary of the greatest military invasion in defense of liberty, he's chuckling at the comic stylings of George Lopez.

We're going to have a 21st century D-Day to save ourselves from this malignant force that has Manchurian Candidate-d its way into our highest office. It's called November 6, 2012.

Whether Orly Taitz here is quoted accurately is beside the point. Even if she said Obama lies about his Kenyan birth, that is irrelevcant to the basic Constitutional issue. The issue, as every non-half wit understands, is about his having a non-American parent, whether or not he was born in Hawaii. This is so clear that deviants from the Ivy League 'hood have to work overtime to muddy it up. The Founders were dead set against this (having a non-American parent) for the highest office in the land. Libworld, with Republican connivance, has fiercely opposed the adjudication of this profound issue in courts of law. It's that simple. CANCUN, Mexico — Police discovered six dead bodies in a cavern near the tourist resort of Cancun on Sunday, three of them cut open and their hearts removed.

Authorities are investigating the identities of the four men and two women found dead in the natural cave, said Francisco Alor, the Quintana Roo state attorney general.

"They were apparently tortured and their chests were opened to remove the hearts," Alor's office said later in a statement.

Three of the bodies had the letter "Z" carved on their abdomens – a possible reference to the Zeta drug gang, though officials did not make an explicit connection to cartel violence that has plagued many parts of Mexico.

The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." But even this does not get specific enough. As usual, the Constitution provides the framework for the law, but it is the law that fills in the gaps. The Constitution authorizes the Congress to do create clarifying legislation in Section 5 of the 14th Amendment; the Constitution, in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4, also allows the Congress to create law regarding naturalization, which includes citizenship.

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in the gaps left by the Constitution. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"

•Anyone born inside the United States *
•Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
•Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
•Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
•Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
•A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
* There is an exception in the law — the person must be "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States. This would exempt the child of a diplomat, for example, from this provision.

Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. These provisions allow the children of military families to be considered natural-born, for example.
