President Obama and the Democrats are engaged in this coy Love-Hate faux drama with Goldman Sachs and the rest of Wall Street. Obama has railed continually against the "fat cats" on the Street, whom he blames loudly and repeatedly for the financial crisis. They do, of course, bear some of the responsibility. But wouldn't it be nice and refreshing to hear him level his ire at the ACTUAL main perpetrators of the crisis: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Of course, he can't do that, because that would mean admitting fault with the social engineering of the Jimmy "My Name is Earl" Carter and Bill "Bubba" Clinton-supported Community Re-Investment Act and other misguided and destructive left-wing economic policies.
No, he's stuck to the safe script: the surefire populist message that all of the banks are bad, Goldman is the worst of the worst, and that they need to be spanked like a Terrible Twos Terror Child.
Just one problem: Obama accepted nearly $1 million from Goldman folks during the 2008 presidential campaign. Other top Democrats have long been raking it in from Goldman and other big banks they now demonize as greedy, profit-driven Anti-Christs. Earlier this year, the president of Goldman hosted a fundraiser for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, which netted him $37,000. When reporters asked him about that yesterday, he read haltingly from a written statement and then ran away.
This is yet another case of the hypocrisy of the Left. They blister the banks and seek to punish them, while at the same time slurping like pigs at the banks' trough.
I hate you! I love you! Kiss me, you fool!
Monica,
You are right on target, the hypocrisy is amazing. Even more amazing is it appears a majority of Americans are absolutely clueless about it and staunchly defend our Golfer in Chief. Pogo had it right, we have met the enemy and he is us.

Well, Geoff, the majority of US, who work, don't always have the luxury of keeping informed. Therefore, they rely so-called on the mainstream media with all the dis-information, mis-information and non-information this entails.
WE are waking up though and thanks in large part to the internet, WE can find the truth, if we diligently search for it.
That and talk radio, which is a powerful voice, which lets US know that there are indeed others out there who think like US.
Not just the professional talkers but their impassioned callers as well!
Which is why they are working on taking away these two sources of independent information, thought and discourse.
Right now, the Supreme Court is still likely to uphold Freedom of Speech and Expression, but it's very likely by a lone vote.
The basic freedoms we take for granted are more imperiled than they have been since the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Therefore: WE SHALL SPEAK LOUDLY.
Please continue to join us in this effort.

Monica has a great point there. Even on Face the Nation last week they were discussing whether the "close association of the Republicans with Wall Street" would cost them in the Midterms in November.
Someone in the round should have mentioned the campaign contributions the Bama and his DemonRATS got from Wall St, compared to the GOP, and then ask whether the close association of the DemonRAT party with ACORN, the CRA and the mortgage crisis we now face as a direct result - as well as the abject mismanagement at Fannie and Freddy -would "cost them in the November elections".
A sterling example of media steering the audience toward voting DemonRAT by LEAVING the most vital issues UNMENTIONED. And by outright lying, saying that Republicans are "closely associated with Wall Street", when it is in fact the DemonRATS who are!

Monica'a humor reigns once again. I like her red lipstick.
The bankers are not talking to the public - defending themselves, and the gov'ment is blaming bankers while taking their money and giving them bonuses. No doubt, most of what we witness is window dressing.
But even hardened globalists know their plans are thwarted by malfunctioning banks, and banker success depends on positive political feedback. The actual fight is over how to fix them: for globalists, or for domestic buildups. The former is almost impossible to achieve because the foreign political climate is uncontrolled by politicians. They are just taking the money of international bankers and posturing, keeping their agenda on the burner while silently acknowledging most people do not like the globalist agenda : too many under- or unemployed; and who wants to live in an airplane anyway?
Someone has crowned the new world order leader in Vienna, although no one is paying attention. His name is Maximillian Maximillian, AKA Bill, related to the 15th century Austrian Monarch Ernest I.

Monica, you seem to forget the basic golden rule, he who has the gold rules. Politicians, left and right, have learned they can become millionaires by selling themselves to one group or another.
You may not own as much responsibility for Obama being President as Rush and Sean do for their trashing of McCain and Hillary through the years, but if you had stepped up as McCain's running mate, we might have a different President. I think you owe us amends by getting behind a movement to put Sarah Palin on the Supreme Court. If Dems can summon up some thought they will recognize she is the one person they can get confirmed without a messy fight before elections, not to mention that she might make a really good justice. Republicans might be terrified by her independence, but few would dare oppose her.

The only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans... the Democrats occasionally do something of benefit for the American People. The Republicans, never.
Smaller less powerful government only benefits big corporations, including Wall Street. It does not, nor has it EVER, benefited the American People.
Since Reagan attained "office", a process of deregulation started that has strangled the Middle Class until 2008. More wealth was siphoned from the middle class into the top tier of the wealthy than at any other time in US history.
Such wealth transfer usually results in revolutions.
And not laughable Tea Party "smaller" government "revolutions" driven by the GOP fascist whores; but true revolution by the poor, oppressed, and far more angry than the old well-off white men and women of the Tea Party.
Be careful what you try to instigate. You do NOT want to see the poor overtake your feigned "revolt" and turn it into a real one by burning you alive as their first targets.

And when they do, this is the song that's always playing, by Richard & Karen Carpenter and John Bettis:
SOMEDAY
Someday, rested from hours of sleeping
We'll stay safely behind what we're keeping
You'll seem warmer than I had remembered you
Lying so close I'll be able to feel you breathe
I could never leave
One day, when I am able to love you
I'll come back from wherever I've been to
I'll see you looking the same as you always have
Lovely, so lovely, I'll cling to the love you give
So I'll start to live
Someday is coming
If I believe it
Someday always brings the good life you knew ...
Ever back to you
How I need you
Someday, all I can give you is someday
Someday, all I can offer is someday
Please say that you'll be waiting when someday comes
Promise me this and a kiss, to keep what you are
Always close to me
Someday

"There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party...and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat. Republicans are a bit stupider, more rigid, more doctrinaire in their laissez-faire capitalism than the Democrats, who are cuter, prettier, a bit more corrupt--until recently... and more willing than the Republicans to make small adjustments when the poor, the black, the anti-imperialists get out of hand. But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties." Gore Vidal

"Thus, Levin and others do not want to snatch “their” country back; they merely want the Constitution upheld. “Give us our country back by following it,” he implored.
Imus pointed out that the only people who could literally take their country back would be the Native Americans. Though he meant to be humorous, Levin seized the opportunity to attack the New York Times.
“I don’t remember the New York ‘Slimes,’ which has been around forever, railing on and on on behalf Native Americans a hundred-something years ago,” he said. “I don’t remember the New York ‘Slimes’ speaking out against Nazism and the Holocaust.”

Like I've ALWAYS said, Ree, and I agree with Vidal: Politics, IF you choose to play it, will always be a choice between the ultimate evil, and the lesser than ultimate evil. Any third choice is wasted and automatically a vote for greater evil, and they know it.
The Democrats occasionally and miraculously, against all odds, accomplish something that truly benefits the American People. The Republicans, on the other hand, only accomplish things that benefit only their Big Business and Big War CEO masters and decimates and destroys every else. Their tools, like the German Nazis before them, are anger, hatred, prejudice, intolerance, fear, and outright paranoia.
The GOP is fascism personified, while the Democrats are redeemable, precisely because they ARE the lesser evil, and they are well aware of it. The greatest evil is rarely, if ever, redeemable.
And eventually, to prove my point, utterly destroys itself, given enough time, money, and power.
Every day the GOP is in power is another day closer to Armageddon and the end of the United States, forever.

Posted by: xbjllb | April 22, 2010 at 08:22 AM
To clarify. When I speak of the fascist GOP, I'm referring to relatively recent developments that started post-Nixon, with the election of senile Paul Von Hindernburg (Ronald Wilson Reagan) to the Presidency while Hitler (GHW Bush) ran the country from under his nose. For twelve years. Until the miracle of Clinton, which by the way, was the reason GHW Bush chose 9-11 to get even with the American People.
Nixon was decidedly NOT a fascist, although he was paranoid. Most people of his age in that era were, of anyone younger. The country was literally falling apart. Nixon represented the final days of the PRE-fascist GOP. If the man and the GOP had been fascist then, WE'D STILL BE FIGHTING THE CHINESE IN VIET NAM SO THEY COULDN'T ATTACK US HERE.

A Letter From An American Soldier in Iraq
I had to share this letter I received from a pen pal of mine. In my opinion, he’s a great example of a true American Patriot:
April 3, 2010
Dear Michael,
I’m writing to your from Iraq. I saw on the internet that obamacare passed. I took out my frustration by donating money to Conservative candidates. From the ones I remember, I donated to Chuck DeVore, Bill Randall, Michele Bachmann, Peter Roskam (my Congressman), Mike Rogers, Marco Rubio, and Randy Hultgren. I thought that I would be wise to donate it to Conservatives before the libs redistribute it.
I’m so ashamed of my home State of Illinois. It sucks to have the most radical Senators (Burris, Durbin and Obama), Jesse Jackson Jr. as a Congressman (not in my districe thank goodness) and a former Governor, Rod Blagojevich who is corrupt to the core. I am doing all I can from Iraq to make sure that there is a major victory for the Conservative movement in November.
I am earning an extra $400 a month for being in a combat zone. Each month I select 4 Conservative to donate that extra money to. It is the most I am able to do because as a soldier, I cannot keep our country from being destroyed from within. Like Rush Limbaugh said last year in June, “If Al Qaeda wants destroy America they have to hurry because Obama is beating them to it.”
I really apreciate all you are doing to stop the Marxist takeover of America as an informed citizen. Don’t let the media elitists and leftists get you down. They are headed for a massive defeat in November and as long as Washington is held accountable, those dangerous ideas of Marxism will be beaten back and obamacare repealed. If there is a Conservative majority back in the House, they can cut off the funding for the obamcare bearaucracies and his unconstitutional czars.
I’ve included a photo of myself next to a Blackhawk helicopter. I have ridden on them in 4 seperate missions. It’s a thrill every time.
God bless you Michael and thank you for all you do for the Conservative movement.
—-Name and location withheld in order to protect this brave man from the regressive socialists who would do everything in their power to destroy him from having the nerve to disagree.
******************************************************
Needless to say, I was personally moved to read his kind words of praise. I’m honored to be seen in this light by such a great Patriot and proud to think of him as a friend. I pray for his safety as well as the safety of all our brave men and women in uniform. May God bless them and may God bless America.
