Item 1: The Claim: That Democrats are sincerely, absolutely, wonderfully interested in true, honest-to-goodness, authentic bipartisanship. The Reality: Senate Finance Committee Chairman, Democrat Max Baucus, worked for weeks with Republican Senator Chuck Grassley on a bipartisan jobs bill that could attract votes across party lines. Majority Leader and Major Jerk Harry Reid killed it yesterday---and along with it, any sense that the Democrats are serious about real bipartisanship.
Item 2: The Claim: That Democrats just have a "messaging" problem and that if they just explained health care, the economy, etc etc, better, the American people would really "get" what they're trying to do and support it, full out. And if only they'd fix their communications problem, they'd be in great shape heading into November's elections. The Reality: Congressman Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Ted Kennedy and the last "great?" electoral hope of the putrid Kennedys, has just announced that he will not seek re-election. The writing is on the wall---even in Deep Blue Massachusetts. It's not a communications problem, Dems. It's a content problem.
Item 3: The Claim: Hillary loves Bill. The Reality: After Bill Clinton had a cardiac event yesterday and underwent an operation to place 2 stents in an artery, Hillary came to New York to visit him in the hospital. Her office was quick to say that she'll be heading to the Mideast this weekend as planned. Happy Valentine's Day, WJC.

Couldn't resist an opportunity to pick on the Clintons' marriage, huh? Pathetic. And it says more about Monica Crowley than it does about the Clintons.

FreaKface if all you can assail here is a joke about the Clinton "marriage", it merely goes to illustrate the paucity of the DemonRATs' agenda.

Pretty weak FK...is that the best you mental midgets can come up with? That sure makes it look good for Conservatives in 2010.

Senate Dems ax bipartisan jobs bill
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100212/ap_on_bi_ge/us_congress_jobs
Are you kidding me?? The same idiots who stuffed a "stimulus" bill full of pork like tunnels for turtles while funneling billions to pay for the jobs of state and local UNION GOVERNMENT WORKERS last year have the audacity to complain about helping people in the private sector?? Won't loans for chicken producers and aid to catfish farmers "save" jobs, just like the "stimulus" money "saved" UNION GOVERNMENT WORKER jobs????

The president's reality problem
During the campaign, Obama could throw a rhetorical pixie dust over all the difficult choices inherent in governing and the contradictions of his own program, making them fade into a beguiling vision of a sun-lit post-Bush America. This magical realism sustained him until November 2008 -- but couldn't withstand governing.
Consider Obama's most elemental appeal as a candidate: He excited the base of his own party while winning over the center with talk of "post-partisanship." On the stump, he could maintain this balance. In office, he had to choose either partisanship in the form of his powerful Democratic allies on Capitol Hill, or postpartisanship in the form of concessions to Republicans that would anger and disappoint his own side. He chose Nancy Pelosi, and watched independents flee from him.
On fiscal policy, Obama could promise massive new programs at the same time, in one debate, he asserted his approach would mean "a net spending cut." A laughable contradiction, it wasn't fully exposed until Obama had to write a budget. With $1 trillion deficits now stretching off into the horizon, his answer is appointing a commission to study the matter.
Obama is still the same illusionist from the campaign on his signature health-care initiative. The new $1 trillion entitlement will reduce the deficit. It will insure millions more people while bending the cost curve down. The hundreds of billions of dollars in Medicare cuts will be utterly painless. There's no trade-off or sacrifice in sight, and -- not surprisingly -- people don't believe it.

Countdown begins for end of Keith Olbermann's 'Countdown'?
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/02/keith-olbermann-msnbc-glenn-beck-bill-oreilly-fox-news.html
Remember Keith Olbermann?
He was the one-time must-see anti-Bush ranter who helped rescue MSNBC (yes, it's still on at night) from even worse oblivion years ago.
Well, quietly last month while no one was looking, hardly anyone was watching Keith Olbermann anymore.
The guy, who's even apparently tried to get some Sarah Palin-like eyeglasses, is now forced to leap over-the-top on ex-state senators like Scott Brown and Tuesday's worst person, Fox News' Glenn Beck. Beck is the successful talker with the perfect haircut for radio. Like most Americans, he wasn't watching Keith.
There are a couple of reasons for KO's frustration and anger and volume and core meltdown over the Massachusetts election outcome, among other issues of galactic import. For one, lots more ranters around nowadays on all sides, including that colleague of Keith's with the hugest head in TV. Please, no 3-D for him!
Also, Olbermann's showboat is sinking. Listing in you-know-which direction.
It's as if he thinks talking LOUDER will keep his low cell battery from dying.
Worst, Olbermann's network president, Phil Griffin, is publicly praising him, always an ominous sign in television. While referring to his host almost in the past tense. "Keith has been our tentpole," Griffin says, adding later, "I'm pleased with where we are."
Where they are, as Jeff Bercovici points out over at Daily Finance, is way behind the big boys over at Fox News, Bill O'Reilly and gang. In fact, Keith is so far behind Bill, he can't even make out the state of the license plate, let alone the numbers. Bercovici thinks Americans may be outgrowing Olbermann's schtick.
In the most desirable TV demographic of 25-54, which Keith will soon outgrow himself, "Countdown" lost 44% of its audience from the beginning of President Obama's term until this year. It could have been worse -- say, 45%.
Olbermann averaged 268,000 viewers last month in that sector. That's just several thousand sets of those eyes more than Campbell Brown over on CNN. According to one count, Keith even finished in that time slot behind Nancy Grace. Nancy Grace!
And she's on Headline News, Headline News, the repetitious TV channel the repetitious TV channel inflicted on all U.S. airline travelers within any boarding area around the clock so that when, at least an hour late, each person is finally crammed into plane seats between professional wrestlers, they feel relief.
On the bright side, which everyone knows KO is fond of spotting, his MSNBC audience was only 696,000 viewers 24-54 behind O'Reilly, whose audience has grown 55%, according to Bercovici. Of course, it might be worse this month.

That's all I'm bothering coming up with here. Monica Crowley's lame articles and the lame postings by wingnut idiots are not worth my time.
Posted by: FK | February 12, 2010 at 02:16 PM
MJ! Very funny. I've also heard it said that the Captain of the Titanic announced to the passengers, "Not to worry folks, we're just taking on a little ice for the bar."

Glad to hear we're not worth your time, FreaKface. If you had a logical bone in your body you would know never to come back here as a LOGICAL consequence DERIVED from that observation.
But then libs are illogical IDIOTS.

Seems they got a few thrills up their legs over at PMSorhwateveritisNBC.

Wow FK, your keen insight and wicked wit are fearsome indeed!
Try posting a coherent statement on policy next time, rather than resorting to the regressive socialist's knee jerk response of insulting people while contributing zero worthwhile content to the discussion.

Gringoman,
I'm not ignoring your question, it's just that I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a better candidate than Sarah Palin.
Posted by: DJ | February 11, 2010 at 04:55 PM
You've still got time, DJ, for 2012. I'm still open to other possibilities, and I'd like to hear some, from Ummah too, who, like yourself, is concerned that Sarah might be soft on Illegalismo and perhaps is not sparring with la prensa latina as bitingly as he would (or maybe as I could teach her in my way). She even intends to re-pay her enormous debt to Johnny Boy, and politics be damned.
Notice: For alternatives to Palin in 2012, I understand that Superman is out. In fact he may even be back on Krypton or somewhere for a sabbbatical or something. At any rate, he's definitely not available for 2012.
I might consider a Republican man, but I can't think of any.

gringoNOTE: ANN COULTER gets it. She doesn't call this Big Government Obamanation what I do---an example in plain daylight of the Corporate-Socialist state--but she clearly gets it and nails it nicely.....
Obama's owned – you can bank on it

COULTER//////Obama, like the rest of his party, is an ideologue who doesn't understand or particularly like the free market. He fundamentally believes in the efficacy of the welfare state, whether the beneficiary is a layabout single mother or a rich Wall Street banker.
gringoNOTE: Bingo!
Posted by: gringoman | February 12, 2010 at 05:09 PM
COULTER/////When the government steps in to save the very financial institutions that poisoned the nation's financial system with contaminated securities and derivatives – all while the bankers get to keep the fees and bonuses on their bad bets – we are not talking about a free market.
We're talking about regular Americans being forced to foot the bill for the gambling habits of left-wing multimillionaires by buying the malefactors more chips every time they lose.
Republicans should defend any investment houses that never benefited from a government bailout. But anyone who took huge gambles, lost and got bailed out with taxpayer money should be tortured and then shot, miraculously brought back to life, tortured some more, then shot a few more times.
gringoNOTE: ANN's rhetoric reveals despair. She knows what most Republicans will do about Wall Street's devious little mofos with all that money. The Republicans, privately, will just try to win them back from the liberal Democrats, while yammering in public to the voters.

All I can say is let's keep the list in circulation and we can keep adding and subtracting the various candidates while highlighting their various good and bad points.

What the demoncrats fail to know [and i dare say are willfully ignorant of] that they do perfectly well to communicate, they forget that actions speak louder than words. Also they are willfully ignorant that what a person thinks will eventually be what they speak and what their actions are. i personally pay no attention to a person's words but i pay careful attention to their actions. And the actions of the demoncrats have me believe that they will cancel all further elections in the United States before this years elections. So pray to the LORD G-D to prove me wrong for the good of you and your children.

After Scott Brown won in MA. i deliberately watched and listened to Olbie while i would work out in the gym....God, it was fun. I thought he was gonna purse his lips forward til he actually kissed the camera lens. Lefty Shultz was another one---i was certain he was gonna yell out.."I'm mad as hell and i'm not gonna take it anymore." Is anyone else in here in love with Sarah Palin's knee-caps?
