Republicans have often griped about unnecessary government expenditures, that is, until they get a special deal! How about paying for MRI machine scans in clinics? The machine, nifty enough surely, actually costs 10K to make, and the first models cost the most, and they sell for 1.5million. This is what the ejection of public money does to things. Next, they'll cut off the exterior plastic molding and mark it up to 1.75 million. This is reverse Chinese manufacturing.

Dgscol

We need to improve teachers, but their professors are researchers. So, this is a problem. The same professor described this way, was described by someone else as an instructor, but not much of a researcher. I do no know what he is, but he has tenure, and the state has a certification program.

Dgscol

About the MRI - I missed telling you that these are now made in China, and .... and the price never came down.
Where are the savings to the public for outsourcing this work? The differential was largely taken as pure profit.
This is an enormous imbalance in the economy.

Suicide bomber strikes suspected nuclear weapons site in Pakistan
By Saeed Shah | McClatchy Newspapers

ISLAMABAD — A suspected nuclear weapons site in Pakistan was hit by a suicide bomb attack, raising fears about the security of the nuclear arsenal, while two other terrorist blasts made it another bloody day in the country’s struggle against extremism.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/77650.html

gringoman

After the attack on the military headquarters earlier this month, Shaun Gregory, a professor at Britain’s Bradford University and an expert on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, told McClatchy: “It is an incredible shock that terrorists can strike at the heart of GHQ (general headquarters). … Terrorists could mount this sort of assault against Pakistan’s nuclear installations.”

After the military headquarters strike, Western officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were forced to calm concerns, saying that “We have confidence in the Pakistani government and military's control over nuclear weapons." The video of Larry Klayman on a CSPAN appearance is very interesting to listen to. It discusses the following issues:

http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=113543

* How the incompetence and corruption of the Clintons, Bush and Cheney left the nation and world in ruins and delivered a socialist like Obama

* How Monica Lewinsky actually did Hillary Clinton a favor and kept her out of jail

* The inherent racism in the Clinton, Bush and now Obama administrations

* Why the U.S. judiciary is largely compromised and a corrupt cesspool of political hacks and "yes men"

* Why Hillary Clinton is afraid to speak out for her gay, liberal supporters

* Why high oil prices by the Saudis, other Arab states and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez are rubber-stamped and approved by all American presidents

Black Hawk Down 16 years ago this Month.

People remember there was a GREEN President in the White House back in 1993, with no Military Background either.

We are presently in two theaters Iraq and Afghanistan. What could go wrong with the current President ignoring precedent.

While the White House goes to War with a News Network. We have Americans in Harms way, waiting for him to make a decision on Troop deployment build up in Afghanistan.

Lest we forget, we have people fighting for us on the front lines of Afghanistan. It was later determined that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden, trained and funded the people who shot the Black Hawks Down, 3 Oct 1993 Mogadishu.

What is the President waiting for? An International Incident to give him political cover..al la Joe Biden. Gird Your Loins?

I don't know what Savage reads, but this is about wave length. We both grew up in big urban America with the hoi polloi of all ethnicities and races, went into rehab from the 60's, and we both have read widely. I can almost read his mind at times, but when he doesn't get embarrassing he can still surprise me with clever quips and insights and his historical allusions are usually very good, on target and clearly above the rest of the competition. Despite his success, he still betrays some insecurity by throwing his Ph.D around etc, as when he refers to the "high-school drop-out" competition and calls Sean Hannity "the wall-banger." In other words, I know where Michael Savage is coming from.

ALBANY -- Former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has endorsed a third-party candidate over the GOP-backed contender in New York's congressional special election, saying her own party has abandoned its core values.

The former Alaska governor said Thursday she was backing Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman over Republican Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava in the 23rd Congressional District race that includes Democrat Bill Owens.

Thanks for posting this M/M. Of course I had the exact opposite reaction. I don't generally care for Hannity, but thought he was fair and thoughtful in response to this particular panel of scare-mongers. Historically, haven't there always been a small percentage of risks associated with the development of most vaccines, even smallpox and polio? Don't these risks outweigh the greater benefit?
Should swine-flu eventually mutate into a more deadly virus, we will be very fortunate and grateful that we invested all the time and research into the current batch of vaccines, in order to prepare for future vaccine iterations that are safe and effective.

Thorn, I think the government is scaring us. Deirdre Imus is saying that people have a CHOICE, but they should also know the facts.

Here is a Washington Redskin cheerleader AFTER she got the flu shot

The swine flu scare of 1976:

”On Dec. 16, increasingly concerned about reports of the vaccine touching off neurological problems, especially rare Guillain-Barre syndrome, the government suspended the program, having inoculated 40 million people for a flu that never came.

By year's end, Jack Kent knew his wife was seriously ill and started reading all about the side effects of the president's flu inoculation, especially nerve problems like those his wife was experiencing.

Even before Mary Kent died an invalid at age 51 in January 1982, Kent had joined the hundreds of Americans who filed suit against the government on behalf of children left without a parent due to fatal side effects from the swine flu vaccine.”

Smarminess and mushiness are luxuries IMHO while we are fighting the enemy within and the enemy abroad whom the enemy within are busy throwing the gates open for.

Let's save the warm and fuzzy stuff for after we take care of our immediate problems as far as I am concerned.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but I think the situation is worse than we think. All that may stand between us and the complete and permanent loss of our liberties may be ONE Supreme Court judge.

Usually Levin bores me, but he did make a good point last night. Savage doesn't offend me when he criticizes other radio talk hosts because he criticizes everyone equally, but Levin is selective. I think Gringoman's criticism applies more to Levin than to Savage.

Sometimes even I get sick of politics and I get a kick out of Savage giving me a break from "the elected whores". I'm not happy with Rush dismissing what Vick did. Savage appreciates animals, and I LOVE what he did for the elephants.

Savage reaches a lot of people that traditional conservatives don't. Where MOST of my friends don't share my appreciation for Hannity and Rush, they do love Savage. They like Monica too.

Droll to think so. (Gawd, let's hope he doesn't prefer the old standard, "It's De-lightful, it's De-Lovely!") But no matter how tempting that big boob tube might be for francophoney, I suspect he'd still be ready for Castrolandia. After a lifetime of spinning away Mao and Castro executions by blathering on about 'hemoclysm,' to types like "Real Conservative," the dork might be ready for his reward, like becoming a human banana plantation in the People's Paradise.

M/M, please don't assume I don't like Savage. I definitely prefer him over Hannity who is a bit bland for my taste. Though kudos for having the enemy name him directly by name!
