This afternoon, the president took time out from his busy schedule of dithering on Afghanistan, failing to display presidential leadership (on anything), wrecking the economy, presiding over falling troop morale, dissing our allies, giving away the store to our enemies, hitting the links, and smoking...

....to play a game of hoops.

That's right, the Leader (?) of the Free World took to the White House basketball court today to shoot some hoops. Playing with him were some equally non-busy folks, like Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan.

From this looks of this roster, you'd never know that we've got nearly 10% unemployment, student violence reaching epic levels in Chicago, and home foreclosures still at record levels. What are the folks in charge of these problems doing? Hitting the hardwood.

Can't blame them, though. You get an invitation from the president, you go. What an example he's setting, eh?

It's the president as Alfred E. Newman: "What, me worry?"

Usually a president takes on the nation's worries for us, and works to calm the anxiety and fix the problems. But the Bama seems perfectly satisfied to let all of us do the worrying for him. He can't be bothered. He's got some ball-playing to do.

For some reason, Imelda Marcos and her shoes are in the news again - supposedly because her 1220 pairs of shoes were saved from a flood. The shoes were discovered when an uprising displaced her husband. The real reason for bringing up these shoes - the Phillipinos just left them, Charles Jourdan's, Gucci's and Ferragamo's, and never
took a single pair.

We had nice English clothing styles - tweads, argoyle socks, and plucky Scottish checks . But today, they have convinced us we want to dress casually, so we wear Chinese plaincloth. It reminds me of hippy-style tie-dyed t-shirts. Such is the neoglobal economy (Many Asians wear Nike sweatsuits everywhere. This reminds me of the Euro potato sack torso tunic). The English are heavily positioned in the Asian trade, a throwback to the grand old days of Empire and Churchillian ships, and ultimately Vikings landing in England proper and taking over. The English are borrowing 80% of GNP to maintain their country while they invest abroad. Isn't that insane? What a bollocks!

Why don't we have an American fashion trade, something beyond Stars and Stripes pants. Our tastes vary and change rapidly, and we like to have fun, and who knows better what we want to wear other than our regional clothingmakers? How about some American woolies?
Are you still wearing last years styles? I know a guy with a navy suit that is 20 years old. He is waiting for quality to return to his mens store.

So either Americans are not very creative, or they are waiting for the Hispanic alien situation to resolve. However, I imagine we could buy some Mexican made clothing, since they have interesting ethnic clothing. I have heard reports that those Mexicans are just
napping down there. Hey Juan, wake up man!

I bought a nice double pair of wool socks for what's expected this winter instead of Al Gore's Global Warming, (according to scientists who are not on the pc dole) Yes, they were off the rack, but not badly priced and very neatly packaged, and with a picture of a dude in red ski vest, a set of skis jauntily resting on one shoulder, sun shades hugging his hair line. Who could resist, especially when wool goes so well against Grey Panther hide?

It was only later I had to face my own share of the national guilt in turning America into an 'Empire of Debt,' i.e. I actually read the label's finer print.

I can even imagine them, before too long, seeing her as a potential VP running mate for one of the eye-glaze boors they hope to run in 2012. (CBS) Swat Valley Pakistan went from tourist heaven to terrorist hell in less than two years.

CBS News Correspondent Terry McCarthy reports last February the Taliban were in control. Women were publicly flogged for daring to refuse forced marriages, or walking unaccompanied in the streets. The Taliban banned music, blew up schools and slit policemen's throats at will.

"They were beheading in this square," said Dost Mohammad, a computer school owner.

Is the U.S. Navy ready for periods and pregnancies aboard our nation’s military submarines?

If not, the maritime military branch had better get ready. Sadly, today, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus announced a policy change allowing women to serve on Navy subs.

Remember, during the Gulf War, when many single female soldiers serving on a Naval supply ship–I believe it was the U.S.S. Ted Kennedy Letterman, I mean the Acadia–got pregnant? Yup, 36 chicks got pregnant on that ship, and all of ‘em had to be shipped home at taxpayer expense. And that was in 1991. In the 18 years since, women are even sluttier and people are far more promiscuous.

Serving on a sub means serving in quarters so much tinier than a ship and doing so for prolonged periods of time submerged. Women in such close quarters can only pose a problem. This isn’t about equal rights or addressing alleged “sexism.” It’s about lots of periods and pregnancies that are both going to occur because the Obamaniks made this stupid move. It’s just human nature that these problems will happen. Moreover, it’s unsanitary, unhealthy, and socially stunting. Does America really need to put women in sardine cans under the sea to prove they have equal opportunity?

Thorn, you must work for "The New York Times". Actually, as soon as I heard Rush say that, I laughed because I DID think the same thing.

When I'm in a store, I do start looking at the headlines in the "National Enquirer" and take them more seriously. I haven't started reading it yet, so I don't know the details on Sarah Palin, but if she runs for a political office, I'm sure ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN will lead with the story, just as they keep me well informed on David Letterman's sex life, Anna Nicole Smith's life and Jon and Kate's divorce.

FYI, Obama was such a MEDIOCRE basketball player in H.S. that he was on the "B" team!! That's right; according to Sports Illustrated, there were two (2!) Varsity hoop teams at Punahou H.S. and he could only crack the "B" team. His H.S. coach also reported that Obama (the ringleader) and some other "pine riders" (of the B team, no less)actually went to the coaches office TO DEMAND MORE PLAYING TIME! The coach stated that back in the 70's, you played 5-8 guys and the scrubs got time after the team was hugely ahead or behind. Everyone didn't get significant minutes back then, before the travesty of "political correctness"......
