Cheney is guilty of treason. He ORDERED military jets to stand down on 9-11 and to let an attack plane continue on to its target, minutes AFTER the Twin Towers had been attacked.

Norman Mineta told the 9-11 commission he remembered the order clearly, because it was so contrary to all laws to protect the people of the United States.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=en&q=cheney+stand+down+order&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

Cheney needs to be tried and hanged asap. Or the Republic will not stand.

What's left of it, anyway.

We still don't know whether Cheney was issuing a Standdown order for Flt. 77 or a Shootdown order for Flt. 93, a half hour later. The references to "50 miles out, 30 miles out, 10 miles out" seem to indicate the former explanation.

Really, this is still not a settled issue. This article tells us little we didn't already know from other sources. Cheney's order at 10:30 am to shoot-down what turned out to be a medivac helicopter I had not seen, though.

Here are the two interpretations of Transportation Secretary Mineta's account (Wiki):

Mineta's testimony to the 9/11 Commission about his experience in the Presidential Emergency Operating Center with Vice President Cheney as American Airlines flight 77 approached the Pentagon was not included in the 9/11 Commission Report. In one colloquy testified by Mineta, the vice president refers to orders to shoot the plane approaching the Pentagon:

"There was a young man who had come in and said to the vice president, 'The plane is 50 miles out. The plane is 30 miles out.' And when it got down to, 'The plane is 10 miles out,' the young man also said to the vice president, 'Do the orders still stand?' And the vice president turned and whipped his neck around and said, 'Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?' Well, at the time I didn't know what all that meant."

– Norman Mineta,

Mineta's testimony to the Commission on Flight 77 differs rather significantly from the account provided in the January 22, 2002 edition of the Washington Post, as reported by Bob Woodward and Dan Balz in their series "10 Days in September"

“ 9:32 a.m.
The Vice President in Washington: Underground, in Touch With Bush

Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta, summoned by the White House to the bunker, was on an open line to the Federal Aviation Administration operations center, monitoring Flight 77 as it hurtled toward Washington, with radar tracks coming every seven seconds. Reports came that the plane was 50 miles out, 30 miles out, 10 miles out-until word reached the bunker that there had been an explosion at the Pentagon.

Mineta shouted into the phone to Monte Belger at the FAA: "Monte, bring all the planes down." It was an unprecedented order-there were 4,546 airplanes in the air at the time. Belger, the FAA's acting deputy administrator, amended Mineta's directive to take into account the authority vested in airline pilots. "We're bringing them down per pilot discretion," Belger told the secretary.

" pilot discretion," Mineta yelled back. "Get those planes down."

Sitting at the other end of the table, Cheney snapped his head up, looked squarely at Mineta and nodded in agreement.

—Dan Balz and Bob Woodward, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A42754-20...

This same article also reports that the conversation between Cheney and the aide occurred at 9:55 am, about 30 minutes later than the time Mineta cited (9:26 am) during his testimony to the 9/11 Commission.

This remains an unanswered question.

Does the Left and its cohorts target Dick Cheney only because he is willing to stare them down politically? Is it only because of the traditional communist stereotype of "warmonger" and "greedy capitalist" (as opposed to Obama's "peaceful" Wall Street allies such as Goldman Sachs and the ACORN enablers of the Sub-prime mortgage calamity?)

Does it perhaps go even deeper than that, especially for the Left's fairly recent but very important new ally, the sodomites, who run Hollywood and much of Entertainment and Media--and who are dedicated to destroying traditional society and any emerging leaders of it such as Sarah Palin.....?

As was pointed out (or rather implied) in A.A. Brill's introduction to Sigmund Freud's, 'A Study in Psychosexuality,' the homosexual mind cannot understand male bonding except in terms of sexuality.

The concept of non-sexual brotherly love, known to mankind throughout the ages, is foreign to it. This mindset might just as well try to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics. Its eye glazes over. For self-esteem, it feels driven to sexualize all examples of male bonding. In its power struggle, it must propogandize society in this direction, another reason for the militant drive to have its unions called "marriage." In a clever and ironic juxtaposition, the more "natural" it can make itself appear, the more "un-natural" it can cast the majority who oppose it, including all opposition to the growing introduction of homosexual "sensitivity" in the national media, education, legal system etc. The prospect seems clear: They cannot end the dominance of heterosexual America without homosexualizing America. Some will say the choice isn't that stark. Most will just avoid looking at it with clarity.

But if "Gay World" is even willing to try a co-opt of Jesus Christ in this endeavor, is Dick Cheney anything other than just another stepping stone on the road to power?

Romer v. Romer: why the stimulus is not working

It happened so quickly, few people noticed. The chief architect of the President’s stimulus plan, Christina Romer, who now heads the Council of Economic Advisors, testified before the Congressional Joint Economic Committee on 22 October. While such an event would be otherwise unremarkable, what is striking in this instance is Dr. Romer’s sudden reversal in her economic projections in so short a period of time.

In her prepared statement before the Committee on the status of American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan, Romer predicted that unemployment will remain at about 10% through 2010.

Yet with Jared Bernstein in the seminal paper written for president-elect Obama in January to justify and sell the plan to the country, she writes, “… we expect the plan to more than meet the goal of creating or saving 3 million jobs by 2010Q4”. Relying on a now famous chart in that paper, Romer originally predicted unemployment dropping to 7% by the end of 2010. In other words, the actual unemployment rate will be nearly 50% more than her original estimate. In any other business, inaccuracies like these might have landed Dr. Romer among the numbers she is measuring.

In stark contrast to the rosy picture she portrayed before the Recovery Plan was passed, Romer wrote this furtive statement in her testimony to Congress last week: “Most analysts predict that the fiscal stimulus will have its greatest impact on growth in the second and third quarters of 2009. By mid-2010, fiscal stimulus will likely be contributing little to growth.” What was that again? The stimulus’ greatest impact has already come and gone?

The Romer/Bernstein chart predicted unemployment would peak at 9% without the Recovery Plan. Now Romer reveals the economic picture looks worse than even that through next year. Is it possible, then, that the stimulus actually exacerbates the recession?

Romer unwittingly supplies the elements of an argument supporting such a notion.

When critics of the stimulus originally cited the adverse effect of the nearly $800 billion stimulus on the deficit, she argued in March, "There is no reason to think the government will have any trouble doing the borrowing needed to finance the [stimulus] package. Investors appear to be delighted to lend to the U.S. government at very low interest rates.” Now she admits to Congress: “Such long-term deficits [$1.4 trillion] are unacceptable and need to be dealt with. Over the long run, sustained deficits crowd out private investment and reduce long-run growth.”

No one on Capital Hill or in the press picked up on the implied argument. The stimulus adds to the deficit. Deficits crowd out private investment. and reduce long-run growth. The stimulus won’t help the economy in 2010. It is plausible, therefore, that the stimulus is making matters worse.

So, Madame Chairman ought we to end the program and cut our losses? “Such a premature end to stimulus would be misguided.” she wrote, anticipating that counterpoint. In Washington, logic has no place when policy makers have unfettered access to taxpayer money.

Paul Krugman, a Nobel laureate in economics, touted the Romer/Bernstein paper on his blog in The New York Times, saying his projections were quite similar. “Kudos, by the way,” wrote Krugman, “to the administration-in-waiting for providing this — it will be a joy to argue policy with an administration that provides comprehensible, honest reports, not case studies in how to lie with statistics.”

One wonders if the good Dr. Krugman is so joyful now. We witnessed the President’s chief economic advisor first tell Congress and the American people unemployment will decrease, deficits don’t matter, and growth will be robust through 2010. A short nine months later she confesses unemployment will remain high, the deficit is a major concern, and the stimulus’ benefit is already behind us. Is this not ample evidence of statistical machinations?

From the Economist, 8 Oct. 2009:

"When Barack Obama made his appeal, back in June, for a new understanding between America and Islam, the venue he chose was Egypt—for some obvious reasons. It is the most populous of the Arab nations adjoining the Middle Eastern conflict zone, with an ancient tradition of Islamic scholarship, and a citizenry that is tempted by fundamentalism but also admires some things about the West.

"Still, not everybody liked his choice. Some said he would have made a better point—to his compatriots, especially—if he had addressed the Muslim world from Indonesia, the country where (to quote a line from his speech) he first heard the call to prayer 'at the break of dawn and the fall of dusk'. By speaking in Jakarta, Mr Obama might have challenged the mental association that (judging by polls) some Westerners still tend to make: Muslim equals Arab equals hostile to the West.

"A new survey of the world’s Muslim population, by the Pew Research Center based in Washington, DC, will help those who are keen to break that link. It estimates the total number of Muslims in the world at 1.57 billion, or about 23% of a global population of 6.8 billion. Almost two-thirds of Muslims live in Asia, with Indonesia providing the biggest contingent (203m), followed by Pakistan (174m) and India (160m).

"Perhaps more surprising will be the finding that the European country with the highest Muslim population is not France or Germany, but Russia, where 16.5m adherents of Islam make up nearly 12% of the total national population. Compared with other surveys, the report gives a lowish estimate for the number of Muslims in France (3.6m), as it does for the United States (2.5m); in both those countries, secular principles make it impossible to ask religious questions on a census.

"Another set of data from Pew, albeit dating from last year, was at the heart of a report endorsed this week by two luminaries of inter-faith dialogue: Richard Chartres, the Anglican bishop of London, and Ali Gomaa, the grand mufti of Egypt.

"In a change from the happy talk of many multi-faith exercises, the report grappled with some unpleasant trends: the rise, among Turks, of negative attitudes to Christians and Jews, and the rise in some European countries, like Spain, of anti-Muslim feeling. The fact that robed gentlemen are on good terms does not always lead to goodwill among their flocks."

It appears that Yosemite Sam hasn't lost a drop of that piss-and vinegar towards rationality.

Michael, the american economy seems to be on the mend, at least for those who play by the new rules.
Jobs are being created by the american stimulus although not in the USA.
I had a friend in NY tell me that the appointment clerk for the healthcare corporation which now employs her GP schedules appointments from an office in St Lucia.
As manufacturing has deserted North America over the past three decades so too much of the service economy is being eliminated or outsourced. High unemployment may indeed become a fixture of any recovery.

I had been meaning to ask you to what extent did the deregulation of banking allowing for the consumer banks to engage in speculative investment banking played a role in the financial meltdown?
In Canada there was no such deregulation and the banks didn't suffer as did some of their american counterparts.
Mr Bush was speaking here last week on his forthcoming memoir and championed deregulation to stimulate growth. He did not however mention the gringotheory that liberals in america in order to destroy heterosexuality must promote homosexuality. Mr Bush received a rousing welcome from the citizens of Quebec who rushed to the streets to welcome his motorcade.
Perhaps Mr Cheney will speak to this on his upcoming visit to Montreal. Seems to pass as fact on Monicamemo.

Phil,

There is no indication yet that the American economy is emerging from the recession. All indicators are pointing negative or neutral, except when there is a government program (cash-for-clunkers, one time tax credit for home buyers, etc.) The stimulus shows no sign of working--none. Recovery.gov, the site dedicated to tracking the stimulus shows 30,383 jobs created with the program to date!

I discuss this in "The debt and the dollar":

http://www.examiner.com/x-24933-Economic-Policy-Examiner~y2009m10d19-The-debt-and-the-dollar-week-42-in-review-2009

Our 10% unemployment through next year that the stimulus was purported to reduce to 7% is very high for the US, whose ideal unemployment rate is between 4% - 6%.

Stimulus is nothing more than mis-allocation of resources; scare and borrowed resources in this case.

With respect to your question about bank de-regulation causing the crisis, de-regulation in itself was not the cause. But additional regulation might have helped, given that investment banks, which are not regulated by the Federal Reserve Board were too highly leveraged, were creating investment products no one understood (derivatives, etc.), and were putting too much money at risk in trading (e.g., Bear, Lehman, Merrill).

Other causes of the crisis were government regulations like the Community Reinvestment Act and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, which practically forced sub-prime lending, especially under Clinton. Freddie's and Fannie's risk exposure was also a cause.

Finally, but certainly not least, was the loose money policy of the Fed under Greenspan that inflated asset (home) prices that in turn fueled risky sub-prime lending.

American Family Association President Tim Wildmon warned that the new law "creates a kind of caste system in law enforcement, where the perverse thing is that people who engage in non-normative sexual behavior will have more legal protection than heterosexuals. This kind of inequality before the law is simply un-American."
Wildmon said the legislation creates possible situations where pastors may be arrested if their sermons on sexuality can be linked in even the remotest way to acts of violence.
"It threatens free speech and freedom of religion and is totally unacceptable," he said.
As WND reported, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder admitted a homosexual activist who is attacked following a Christian minister's sermon about homosexuality would be protected by the proposed federal law, but a minister attacked by a homosexual wouldn't be.

The district's 11 GOP county chairmen picked the most liberal Republican they could find, Buffalo-born Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava. There soon came an embarrassing endorsement from Daily Kos blogger Markos Moulitsas, who raved that she likes to raise taxes and is "to the left of most Democrats on social issues (including supporting gay marriage)."

Then, a funny thing happened on the way to the Republicans' much-touted Big Tent. Rank-and-file voters found they preferred one of Scozzafava's challengers for the GOP nomination.

Doug Hoffman, who has never before sought or held elective office, is now running on the state's Conservative Party ticket, and the latest polls say he's cleaning Scozzafava's clock.

The northern New York accounting firm owner who helped organize the 1980 Lake Placid winter Olympics is even ahead of the Democrat, with Scozzafava trailing both.

It's not hard to see why. Defending his decision to go third party, this lifelong Republican says, "I didn't leave the Republican Party; the party left me."

The former Army staff sergeant calls Albany the most dysfunctional state government in America, says Washington's addiction to spending and taxes is wrecking the country, and wants to fix health care through tort reform and free-market innovations.

Hoffman boasts endorsements from former GOP presidential candidates Fred Thompson and Steve Forbes, and ex-House Majority Leader Dick Armey, not to mention the recent backing of 2008 vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin? But isn't that the kiss of death in a northeastern liberal state? This is clearly the thinking of those 11 local party bosses who chose Scozzafava, but with Hoffman having surged into the lead in late October, the voters seem to think otherwise.

Congress could use the presence of a CPA as it spends itself silly.

More importantly, Doug Hoffman represents a paradigm that could end the Nancy Pelosi Congress in 2010.

BORN IN THE USA?
Michelle contradicts Obama nativity story
Divulges Ann Dunham was 'very young and very single' at birth of U.S. president

Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Jr.
In little noticed remarks, Michelle Obama stated at a public event that her husband's mother, Ann Dunham, was "very young and very single" when she gave birth to the future U.S. president.

Her comments further undermine the official story as told by Barack Obama – that Dunham was married to his father, Barack Obama Sr., at the time of birth.

The remarks were made by Michelle Obama during a July 2008 round table at the University of Missouri. Obama was responding to criticism of her husband's presidential campaign speeches about fatherhood and faith-based initiatives.

Michelle Obama explained her husband understands the struggles of low-income families.

"He understands them because he was raised by strong women. He is the product of two great women in his life. His mother and his grandmother," she said.

"Barack saw his mother, who was very young and very single when she had him, and he saw her work hard to complete her education and try to raise he and his sister," Michelle Obama said.

Her remarks about Dunham being "very single" when she gave birth to Barack Obama were also quoted last year on a blog posted at MSNBC.com. The remarks, however, contradicted previous claims President Obama made about the circumstances of his birth.

Appeal filed in Obama eligibility argument
'Court cannot refuse to hear a case because it prefers not'

© 2009 WorldNetDaily

A case alleging Congress failed in its constitutional duties by refusing to investigate the eligibility of Barack Obama to be president has been sent on appeal to the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

WND previously reported when a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by Charles F. Kerchner Jr. and others against Congress.

Attorney Mario Apuzzo filed the action in January on behalf of Kerchner, Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelson Jr. Named as defendants were Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, House of Representatives and former Vice President Dick Cheney along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The case focuses on the alleged failure of Congress to follow the Constitution. That document, the lawsuit states, "provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate 'elected' by the Electoral College Electors."

The case asserts "when Obama was born his father was a British subject/citizen and Obama himself was the same."

But that was then. This is now. Even El Maximo of Havana sees the advantage of toe-ing the new party line. They will no longer refer to the Yankee imperialists as "faggots" etc, or the equivalent of lingo that reigns in today's black ghettos. (certainly not in public, anyway.)

"Gay World" now "uses" The Left, imagining that it itself is not being used. The precocious kiddies don't even have a clue what's in store for them if the socialistas ever get absolute rule in the US.

Progressives: Weasel Wonders of the World.

Or as Dostoyevsky realized 150 years ago: They are the Nonpareil Nihilist Nabobs.

You be sure to tell that to Jesus, to HIS face, and you'd better get down on your knees and pray to whatever god you DO believe in that you are not called upon to act on your beliefs, for your actions, unrepentant, will earn you Hell just as assuredly as God and His universe exists.

Michael:

Thank you for your comments and commentary. I wasn't aware of how much you publish on conservatism and the economy. So it is an honor to be able to have this chat with you.
After reading your remarks (and article) I heard this commentary last night on Première Chaîne Radio which claims that the lack of regulation combined with a lack of regulatory enforcement of the financial markets has been an ongoing issue in the USA. The problem this time however is that international resentment builds when this negligence causes harm to other economies around the world.

Michel Désautels is a leading commentator on economic issues for decades.

I've copied the broadcast here (in french):

Is there anything you would contradict in this CBC story?

SAIGON NOTES

Talking Grunt Blues
by
Daniel Cameron

(Time: About a year ago during a lull in Red offensive. Place: A Special Forces camp, full of shrapnel holes, near the Cambodian border. The young gunners of Charley Battery were a separate unit from SF, and sometimes at odds with SF that could stay inside its bunkers during rocket and mortar attacks.)

*
....Special Forces Captain Palmer, who used to work in a Memphis bank, "One night a rocket would have finished off all seven of us in the Team if it came just three feet closer. That must be luck."
*
With a book, the young gunner is sitting off by himself under a howitzer facing Cambodia. The book is Herman Hesse's Steppenwolf.

"Hard to get good books around here, so I have some sent to me."
*
Cilenti makes a succulent pot of spaghettis in the SF bunker, adds clams to the sauce. "Man, smell that prevolone."

"We're adopting you, Wop."

"Hold on, Babe. Don't you mean I'm adopting you?"
*
Sergeant Brock says he knew the Green Berets when they were elite. He wants to put .105 rounds out there in the highland dusk.

"Ceasefire, hell! Everybody knows they use it to get themselves re-supplied and re-grouped."

He plans to go to Saigon one day next week and see a woman.
*
My grandaddy carried this flag as an Army dentist, WW I. My Daddy carried it 36 months in the Pacific as a Navy pilot, WW II. I'm the last of the Potter line. Either i bring this flag home or the line ends with me."
*
In the SF bunker Lt. Turney's dark mustache droops. Oddly, he looks like a Middle East money changer in need of sleep. He sits down, eyelids drooping. Rat traps are set in the kitchen. A girl-famished Private jokes about sheep. Lt. Turney cracks a walnut and sips coffee. He mumbles something sleepily.

"All right, Merry Christmas, guys."

Video included it’s pretty good, Imus this morning.

OK, so Imus calls Obama a "Titty baby" and a "girly man."
We know that. Here's what we do not know:

What does I-Man call Al Sharpton? And when can we hear it?
