Given this grim news, let's consider a few things:
1. Obama was elected on his self-proclaimed ability to "fix" the economy. McCain was running a few points ahead of him in the polls until mid-September, when Lehman Brothers collapsed, sending the financial sector into a near-death spiral. Panic set in, and the Bama exploited it. He was the Only One, he said, who could fix the economic mess that Republicans were leaving behind. He was the Only One who was going to assemble a group of Wise Minds to advise him. He was the Only One who understood how deep and vast the problems were. He was the Only One whom voters could trust to get the economy going again.
Enough people bought it, and here we are. Not only has the Only One not fixed the economy, he's made it worse with budget-busting, deficit-exploding, debt-imploding spending.
2. The Bama sold his economic "stimulus" plan on the basis that it would accomplish two main things: first, it would immediately stimulate the economy. It has utterly failed to do so. Only about 10% of the stimulus has been distributed, and what has been spent has simply created one-off jobs, such as road paving. When the road is paved, the job ends. Which brings us to the second justification for the stimulus: keeping unemployment down. The Bama personally guaranteed that if the stimulus were passed, unemployment would be kept to 8%. This week's announcement of a 9.7% unemployment rate says it all. Meanwhile, the rest of the economy continues to sputter.
3. With the eye-popping spending the Bama has done in just 8 months, he has managed to cripple the economy for years, if not decades, to come. The nearly $1 trillion for the idiotic and counterproductive "stimulus;" hundreds of billions in bailouts of the financial, auto, mortgage, and insurance industries, most of which went under---or are going under---anyway; a $3.5 trillion budget; $3 billion for Cash for Clunkers; $500 billion in omnibus spending. I could go on but the internet only has so much space.
All of this spending is doubling the national debt in five years and nearly quadrupling it in ten. Deep, deep national indebtedness isn't cool with most Americans.
4. If Bush had a 9.7% unemployment rate, the Democrats would be screaming for his scalp while Keith Olbermann would be having a stroke about it every night.
5. The Bama needs the chaos. He needs the economic chaos in order to ram through his radical agenda, because in the midst of chaos, many of his would-be opponents can't get it together in time to stop everything he's doing all at once. He needs the chaos of high unemployment, so he can do things that will expand the number of people dependent on the federal government. And the more people dependent on the federal government, the more people dependent on the Democrats, and of course, on him. Voila! A permanent Democratic majority.
The revolt against health care---along with the early and continuing Tea Party movement---are promising signs that the country is beginning to throw the brakes on his agenda. We're on to him now.
The Bama's presidency is out of control, not because he doesn't know what he's doing---but because he does. Economic chaos is the fertile breeding ground on which he is seeding his radical policies. The more spending he does, the higher unemployment goes, the deeper the debt grows, the better his position to embed his far-left ideology and tactical move to expand the Democratic majority.
It's a big gamble. Voters might reject it all and throw both him and his Democratic majority right out on their rears. But to a true believer like the Bama, ideology trumps politics. He's willing to sacrifice himself on the altar of remaking the country in his Saul Alinsky, European socialist image.
This isn't just about big government. It's about REALLY big government.
With any luck, come 2012, the Bama will be among the 9.7% without a job.
The so-called "Jobless recovery" (which is not a recovery at all unless you're rich enough to lose millions in the stock market by trusting bear market sucker rallies), will be Obama's undoing, unfortunately not his endless lies about ending the Mideast wars.
"It's the economy, stupid." And letting the same Wall Street cretins who created this disaster in the first place try to "fix" it (the Fed Reserve FOREIGN bank and Wall Street insider/cronies) was the height of Obama's obvious stupidity and cluelessness.

Princess, if Obama is going to be among the (by then) 18% without a job, you'd best find someone better than SP and the current crew to run against him.
Arnold is the only one who could do it, but that's going to take some apparently hard detective work on the Kenyan-Indonesian citizenship issue.

GRINGOMAN////The basic problem with The COCO (Community Organizer Cool One): His campaign2008 team was marvelous, from Axelrod's Teleprompter, to Deadfish's Chicago maneuvers to Nazi collaborator/billionaire George Soros' financial "guidance" to teaming up with Goldman Sachs, to the clever timing of the financial panic in mid-September 2008, to the media's infatuated flunkeys who carried COCO on their shoulders and into the White House.
Unfortunately, especially for the entire commie/corporate cabal, anyone can now see what only the perceptive could see previously.
Their COCO has no mojo.

Hey, great news! Warrior Princesses' TML prediction of gold hitting $1500 an ounce and higher is just about to come true, along with the complete and utter destruction of the Federal Reserve and Wall Street, which means the Obama Administration as well.
Looks like China has figured out a way to force the world back on the gold standard and destroy the Federal Reserve and the western control of fiat (fake) paper currency.

Seems the more we sink into desperate fascism, the more Democratically capitalist China becomes.
I dunno, call me a fossil, but the notion of half a BILLION goldbugs really gets my knickers a twitter. Not to mention what it will do to fiat "money" when the rest of the planet hops on.
Better dead than Fed.

ZPS////// don't be an idiot. Bush and Reagan spoke to schoolchildren at one school. Perhaps their appearances were broadcast on CSPAN. There is a world of difference between that and what Obama has done here, having Duncan do an end-run around the school boards, asking that the President's speech be broadcast in every school, simultaneously, and then issuing cult-of-personality fostering lesson plans to go along with it.
There are none so blind as those who will not see.
Personally, I love it when Ann smacks hysterical writers silly like this.

Ms. Awesome - A little side note but something I'm sure you know, whenever Liberals start saying the previous administration got us into this economic mess - please remind them how Rebublicans tried to get the Democratic controlled congress to look into Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae back in 2006. Barney, Dodd and Maxine Waters all said "No need to investigate, they look OK to me". Two years that snowball had a chance to grow. The housing market sub-prime fiasco could have been headed off if Dems would have investigated. Ball was clearly in their court.

Total words about the Van Jones controversy in the Washington Post: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy on NBC Nightly News: 0.
Total words about the Van Jones controversy on ABC World News: 0.

If you were to receive all your news from any one of these outlets, or even all of them together, and you heard about some sort of controversy involving President Obama's Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, your response would be, "Huh?" If you heard that that adviser, Van Jones, had apologized for a number of remarks and positions in the recent past, your response would be, "What?" And if you were in the Obama White House monitoring the Jones situation, you would be hoping that the news organizations listed above continue to hold the line -- otherwise, Jones, who is quite well thought of in Obama circles, would be history.

9.7____This is shocking news. The leftwingers like Obama are completely unable to comprehend how jobs are created. To them government is the end all, be all of society, and everything including the creation of jobs originate from edicts by government. They cannot comprehend the fact that jobs are created by economic growth and productivity from the private sector--private business. They see business as a source of funding for their social welfare programs, not as an institution to create jobs and economic growth. They are incapable of proposing ideas that will stimuate the economy, and if by the grace of God we are able to stumble out of this recession, it will not be because of their socialist welfare policies.

The Possessed (In Russian: Бесы, tr. Besy), also translated as The Devils or Demons, is an 1872 novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky. For an explanation of the marked difference in the English-language title, please see the section "Note on the title" below.
An extremely political book, The Possessed is a testimonial of life in Imperial Russia in the late 19th century.
As the revolutionary democrats begin to rise in Russia, different ideologies begin to collide. Dostoevsky casts a critical eye on both the left-wing idealists, exposing their ideas and ideological foundation as demonic, [1] and the conservative establishment's ineptitude in dealing with those ideas and their social consequences.
gringoNOTE: OMG! Obama's Democrats and Monica's Republicans all over again? So they DID have previous lives? They inflicted themslves on Tsarist Russia, so now it's America's turn---or the turn of Obama's czarist America?

Harlem's Reverend James David Manning might put it this way:
"Why should Obama speak to the nation's school children when he won't even show us his own school records? Is that what we expect from a President, or a long-legged macdaddy?"

Written by Ann Shibler :
September 20 will be the day we find out whether Chinese sources were correct in their reporting and the Chinese flag is raised on U.S. soil in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the deadliest regime in all of history. And if so, what's next: May Day parades to celebrate the Russian communist worker, or Mao's image on Mount Rushmore?
On September 20th, Veterans and other patriotic groups should be adamantly opposed to any plan to hoist a communist flag over American soil. Many placed their lives on the line, fighting and witnessing the utter brutality of communist regimes in Russia, Korea, North Vietnam — all of whom are supported by the Soviets and the Chinese Communists. Today, the human rights record inside China is as dismal as they come. Their murderously enforced one-child family policy is an abomination as well. But all this matters not to the White House.

Last night I watched the Histery International Chennel program recounting THE FRENCH REVOLUTION.
It occurs to me that if B.O. and his Czars succeed in grabbing dictatorial power by suspending the constitution using some created excuse or crisis, such action will set in motion a revolution in America which B.O. will lose control of. I predict the resulting violence, terror and fear created as a byproduct will rival and even exceed that of the French Revolution.

OBAMA'S 'GREEN CZAR.'
It turns out that Obama's Van Jones is truly multi-faceted. Not just a graduate from (Affirmative Action?) Yale, and a black communist and a 9.11 Truther(like the Twin Towers Troll) and a leader who says Whitey is "poisoning blacks" etc. He is also a producer of at least one music CD. It features internationally famous Philly cop killer, Mumia Abu Jamal (after Jamal gave up his "slave' name), among other voices of Black Liberation Anger. (Don't know if cybER--X got some air time)

"I predict the resulting violence, terror and fear created as a byproduct will rival and even exceed that of the French Revolution."
----
Only a few differences between the French Revolution and your upcoming US one:
1. The King didn't have tanks and automatic weaponry and troops already deployed on homeland soil to be used against the citizenry
2. The King didn't have microwave weapons to fry the rabble from the inside out
3. The King didn't have crowd control weapons that make you poop your pants, for crowds with predominantly women
4. The King didn't have working plans to implement such weaponry against his own rabble; the US does, and has, for years, including past and ongoing "FEMA" exercises
5. The King didn't have working internment concentration camps and the troops trained to run them
Good luck on that revolution; it won't be ending the way the French Revolution ended. Which is only temporarily sad, because every revolution sooner or later replaces the previous system with one even more heinous. The US Revolution just took longer than all the others to create a fascist one party oligarchy with a revolving figurehead emperor.
All this cons vs. liberal nonsense is the absolute phoniest height of showbiz imaginable. McLaughlin and Princess well know it too.

Van Jones, his "Green Czar," has talked much about Whitey, and it's not exactly happy talk. Eg. Whites invented AIDS to kill blacks.
Wait. Maybe Van Jones is really working for VP Biden? Or Michelle Obama?
Or is The Cool One using a rare form of critical thinking: Harvard Affirmative Action Logic?
If his corporate media handmaidens would stop letting him hide his school records, maybe we could know.

A POW BREAKTHROUGH?
Now that the Associated Press (Bangkok) on Teusday of this week confirmed the story that appeared in this column the previous Sunday, the question of the neutral of "third country" looms larger.
The private American group, headed by the CROSBY brothers, BING and LARRY, is seeking to bargain with Hanoi by offering to re-build war-damaged facilities in North Vietnam. This week it got a qualified "maybe" from Hanoi officials in Vientiane. This is already more than US Government officials have ever gotten. Vis-a-vis the US Government, Hanoi has always demanded the prior withdrawal of all American troops before the POW issue can be settled. Obviously the CROSBY group is in no position to withdraw all US troops from Vietnam. Yet it got a qualified "maybe" in response to its offer. A source informs this column that the group is emphasizing the pragmatic methods of the American businessman.
The private group, (initials PEACE) also proposes that the American POWs be interned in a third country till the war's end. The country being proposed will surprise a great many people. A source in direct contact with the CROSBY group's chief spokesman has informed this column of the country's name, but we are still not authroized to print it.
CALLING ALL US OFFICERS
This column issues a formal invitation to all ranking (and maybe not so ranking) American officers in South Vietnam to appraise this country's mood during the pre-Electio.......http://www.gringoman.com

Let's see.
1. Called Republicans a-holes
2. Believes the truth about Senior Bush & Crew being behind 9-11 for Sonny's benefit
3. Is running even more now in the White House after his resignation than he did before, exactly like Rumsfeld kept running the war "from an undisclosed location" after HIS supposed resignation
What's not to like? At least Jones was born in the US.
You see folks? You guys just don't get it. Obama is more than capable of playing by YOUR OWN rules.
If you're going to get Obama at all, it's going to be over one issue and one issue alone: his illegal residency and lack of citizenship.
Everything else is impotently pyrrhic, because this is one illegal alien who doesn't hesitate for a moment to play by Rove Rules.
Oh, and about that red herring that Obama IS a citizen because Hillary and Camp would have exposed him long before the election?
Utter BS. Hillary couldn't have won the election with NO BLACK VOTES. Which believe me would have been the result if she'd outed O. There was no way she could let the truth loose.
So the only question is, is there even ONE cons hero in the land that O's CIA doesn't have blackmail files on? Is there no one out there with enough juice who has clean enough hands?
Or is the issue cowardice? Not wanting to end up like Donald Young?
It is incredible to me to think that people in this country are as afraid of the CIA as people were terrified of the KGB and Hitler's Gestapo.
Mind boggling.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country....
In this day of huge deficits, if the country is in need, why then, do we cater to those who do not pay their taxes? Our country should issue no license, provide no service or protection, or dispensation, to a company that does not legitimately pay its taxes.
WE might complain about these expenditures ... but what about those expenditures that support US companies that offshore resources to avoid taxes?
Fairness, above all, in taxes. People should revolt, complain, picket -- to show legislators that there is a difference between being an American company and not being one.
Posted by: Dgscol | September 06, 2009 at 10:11 PM
One might include an import tax on companies that outsource labor, since there are no taxes paid on labor whatever. Either the taxes on labor should be collected, or the corporate tax for these companies ought to be increased.
Posted by: Dgscol | September 06, 2009 at 10:14 PM
Truther, there are MANY ways to equalize the playing field re: outsourcing; the thing is, the whores in Congress aren't interested in doing it, and CIAObama isn't interested in doing it either, first because it allows the CIA tentacles in every country on the planet, and secondly, because O's the biggest Wall Street pimp the White House has ever seen.
So the destruction of the US middle class and production will continue as long-planned and unabated.

Filmaker Michael Moore's is IGNORANCE ON DISPLAY in his newly release film demonizing capitalism at a theatre near you. This article reports the film's conclusion which is:
"You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy."
http://www.reuters.com/article/lifestyleMolt/idUSTRE5850F320090906
If the ignorant fat Hollywood Idiot schmuck had just stayed awake in school, he might have leaned that "Capitalism" is an ECONOMIC SYSTEM, and, "DEMOCRACY" is a POLITICAL SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT.
When comparing economic systems, the valid comparison is Capitalism vs. Socialism (government ownership and control of the means of production) vs. "Fascism" (government control of the means of production).
When comparing political systems of government, the valid comparison is Democracy vs. Republic (representative democracy) vs Dictatorship (absolute power of the dictator).
Instead we have Hollywood Idiots at best and subversives at worst creating films falsely purporting to make a serious case, which in fact create myths and confuse the public.
Posted by: Checkers | September 07, 2009 at 08:34 AM
Ultimately everything single domestic policy Obama implements is done to help African-Americans first, everyone else second or not at all...think about the church he went to many many years - his wife...duhhh! Only when America, many leftist liberals included, gets liberal fatigue, will the pendulum swing back. I would argue that it's not swinging back yet but is definitely slowing. Who is going to emerge as a leader on the GOP side? Not Romney (mormon), Not Arnold (democrat-lite). Jeb Bush maybe - if & when (if ever) his own government fatigue wears off (Jeb is very worn out & down from being Gov of Florida - he might never get back into politics again). Republicans gravitate towards those who live & espouse the purest from of conservatism....Marco Rubio of Florida is bad to the bone and a very strong contender...there are very few others.
Posted by: ejj | September 07, 2009 at 10:55 AM
Here's an interesting article that hints "Liberal fatigue" could arrive sooner than most currently believe (if we ever have a fair election again):
9/7/09: Barack Obama accused of making 'Depression' mistakes: Barack Obama is committing the same mistakes made by policymakers during the Great Depression, according to a new study endorsed by Nobel laureate James Buchanan.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/6147211/Barack-Obama-accused-of-making-Depression-mistakes.html
It's just too much to expect that this type of article would appear anyplace in the U.S media.
Posted by: Checkers | September 07, 2009 at 01:10 PM
Not to put words in Moore's mouth, but I think what the man means is simple and quite obvious:
No economic system exists nor can exist in a vacuum apart from the current political system.
Therefore:
We must do away with fascist capitalism (the system we now have and the system that always results from deregulation) and not replace it with socialist capitalism (the system conservatives demonize, that NO one is really pushing for) BUT replace it with DEMOCRATIC CAPITALISM, which is a MODERATE system which includes tax breaks and incentives for businesses that ACT RESPONSIBLY and PENALTIES for those that chose to act irresponsibly, and unfortunately, the busted fascist capitalist system of government of the corporate, by the corporate whore, and for the corporate, is going to have to decide what those incentives and breaks and penalties will be.
If they do not, then most unfortunately the result will inevitably be revolution, with all its messy and unpredictable outcomes in BOTH economic and political systems.
In a case of "live to fight another day" fascist capitalism is being forced to reel itself in. And it should; there's plenty enough money to be made in Moderate Regulated Democratic Capitalism, as has existed off and on throughout the 20th century depending on what party in power at the time had the most whores vs. the most public servants. It varies from time to time, and sometimes from week to week.
Socialist Capitalism is nothing to fear because it failed in the USSR, is already failing in China and giving way to the west's version of Fascist Capitalism.
Everyone in a panic about socialism is either unbelievably ignorant or a cunning liar pimping fascism and fascist capitalism.
Fascist capitalism is merely Nazism with a revolving figurehead dictator, only the prisons are full so the already-built camps can remain currently empty.
There currently is no single term to denote Moderate Regulated Democratic Capitalism, so I would propose the following:
JUST CAPITALISM. ("Just" as in "fair" and "equal".)
Posted by: xbjllb | September 07, 2009 at 04:46 PM
Only a few differences between the French Revolution and your upcoming US one:
An uprising is necessary. I agree the Party system amounts largely to posturing these days.
When Europeans clammored for a "Republic", they wanted 1) free press and 2) Representatives for each district that represented all the people of that district. We picked up the idea of a republic from them [Re(again) + public - 19th Cent]. It is partly why Lincoln wanted to make slaves free men, with equal rights.
The undesireable condition the Europeans wanted to escape was being ruled by a King, with the press only expressing what the King wanted, and the parlament
only providing lip service to the public, mostly for the sake of appeasement.
The question we need to ask ourselves : Have we lost our Republic? By Congress pandering to the lowest intentions of the special interests, and the loss of
independent reporting, have we not arrived there?
To get it back : The people had to raise HOLY HELL. It was the only thing that worked to force "representatives" back to representing their people, rather than just pursuing the interests of themselves and their king- mostly interrelated.
Bush's laize faire system created this corrupted government, and to get our government back .... voting and paddycakes will never do it, and time is of the
essence.

Taitz told WND she believes the swiftly approaching court date prompted Smith into action:
"He [who has alleged copy of Obama birth certificate from Kenya] has been in touch with me for quite a while, and he emailed me the document with his signature," Taitz said. "I think he was trying to figure out the most expedient way to bring his message public, and maybe he felt that because I have a hearing coming, that would be the most expedient way."
Taitz hopes the court will order expedited discovery, a ruling that would open many of Obama's currently sealed documents, including his college records and Hawaiian long-form birth certificate, to court scrutiny.
"We'll see what happens on Tuesday. IF JUDGE CARTER HAS THE GUTS, we may move very fast," Taitz told WND. "If expedited discovery is ordered, I'll be dashing to Occidental College and then be on a flight to Hawaii."

gringoNOTE: Kudos to Orly Taitz, a woman who is more of a warrior than any Republican of allegedly male gender. But to expect a sitting US judge (of allegedly male gender) to show "guts"
in a case that could precipitate an immediate and historic Constitutional crisis.......

Friedman
Predicts the
Destruction
of the Dollar
The late, great Milton Friedman
in his classic book prophetically
revealed how Obama's reckless
monetary policies will cause hyperinflation and destroy our nation
Everything Barack Obama, the Federal Reserve, and Congress are doing was predicted in startling detail almost two decades ago by a famous Nobel Prize-winning economist.
His name was Milton Friedman.
Though he passed away in 2006, in his prophetic book, Friedman showed how, facing massive deficits, the U.S. government would dramatically increase the money supply; why foreign countries would stop buying our debt; how the Fed would start buying our Treasury bills; and why this would call cause massive inflation.
He even predicted that our officials would claim inflation was no problem at all.
Amazingly all of this is coming to pass!
Make no mistake about it — the Obama administration is embracing massive inflationary deficit spending.
In just a few months, Barrack Obama has more than doubled the U.S. money supply…committed the government to nearly $24 trillion in new spending . . . and warned the American people to expect trillion-dollar deficits for the foreseeable future.
While the media has been falling over itself to praise Obama's "bold initiatives," the question no one has been asking is, "Where is all of this money coming from?"
Decades ago, Milton Friedman answered these questions clearly and precisely in his insightful — and very topical book, Money Mischief: Episodes in Monetary History.
In Money Mischief, Friedman even warned that the coming inflation could "destroy" our country.
Here's what he wrote: "Inflation is a disease, a dangerous and sometimes fatal disease that, if not checked in time, can destroy a society." (Money Mischief, Page 191)
You see the end result of that process in countries like ("Liberated")Zimbabwe today, where prices double every day, and it now takes a $10 billion Zimbabwe note to buy a single loaf of bread - assuming you can find one.(gV Their chaos began, of course, after they liberated themselves from Whitey and seized the property that Whitey built and redistributed the wealth that Whitey created. Suggestion: Watch and see if they can do this with the Chinese who are becoming increasingly involved in Afri-deals.)
Could America suffer the same fate? Friedman wrote ominously, "The Fate of a Country Is Inseparable From the Fate of Its Currency."

A city firefighter was fighting for his life last night after being repeatedly hit in the head by two men and a woman early yesterday in the Staten Island Ferry's Whitehall Terminal, authorities said. Matthew Dugan, 34, and his girlfriend were walking up from the lower level at 1:30 a.m. when she tripped and fell. The assailants laughed, angering Dugan, a three-year veteran of Ladder Co. 15 in lower Manhattan. "When they laughed, he told them to grow up," said a witness who spoke on condition of anonymity. "They said, 'Shut the f- - - up before we beat you up!' " The three then jumped Dugan, pummeling him about the face and head before running away. His girlfriend was "standing over the top of him, screaming for help," the witness said. Dugan was listed in critical condition yesterday at New York Downtown Hospital. Gringoman, I brought you and other interested parties a piece of Gettysburg history.
Here is the Peace Light Monument on Oak Hill in the Battlefield that was dedicated to the Civil War Veterans in 1938 on the 75th Anniversary of the Battle. As I was looking at the monument, I was thinking about how these veterans survived a ferocious battle and a horrible war. By their 75th anniversary, they had lived through a Great Depression, one World War and they were witnessing the beginning of a second World War. They give me hope.

Civil War Veterans always seemed to be odd looking men in orange-tinged photographs, but I found these clips from 1938. Take a minute to listen to our Civil War veterans in their own words.

Here are some video clips of the 1938 reunion and a newspaper clip describing the 50th anniversary in 1913.

It seems to me that the above describes exactly what the "Progressive (ie. Communist) movement is all about! The public be damned - it will be our way or the highway. Just look at the town hall "debate" on healthcare/insurance reform. Now that the politicians are back in Washington, watch them use language (ie. a "compromise" bill) to confuse and disguise with delayed triggers and new labels (ie. "cooperative" and/ or "exchange") in order to pass a bill which ultimately results in the odious effects of HR3200.
It's time to press the GREEN BUTTON and recycle all politicians.

OBOTS PLAYING DUMB?
This reeks of plausible deniability. If they knew, however vaguely, that he[Obama's 'Green Czar' VAN JONES] was tainted, why wouldn’t they follow up with a thorough vetting via the questionnaire to find out just how tainted he was? Answer: Because they didn’t want to know, and they certainly didn’t want to create any documents that would prove that they did. Copping to incompetence in the background check is less politically damaging than copping to putting a 9.11 TRUTHER on the payroll with full knowledge of his past, so that’s how they’re going to spin this. Plain and simple, they’ve been playing dumb about this guy since the moment they hired him.

Sorry, Monica. Obama is likely to win in 2012. The Republicans don't have anyone with the political skills to beat him. I'm reading Dan Balz and Haynes Johnson's "The Battle for America 2008" (which is in the tradition of Theodore White's "Making of the President" series, and the election books by Jules Witcover and Jack Germond).
Obama adapts his strategy to the needs of the election, while others (like Hillary Clinton and John McCain) stuck to the scripts of prior elections. 2012 will be different than 2008, but Obama is likely to foresee how to win and alter his strategy accordingly.
BTW -- I'm not writing about his skills as a president in this post, but about his skills as a campaigner.

Howard Dean's candid admission that tort reform (capping medical liability awards as was done successfully during the 1970's in California) is not addressed in the current healhcare/insurance reforms because of the fear of taking on the lawyers lobby (which contributes vast amounts of campaign contributions) got me thinking about the inter-relationship between of such reform and the toxic effects of campaign contributions.
Who benefits from ever increasing campaign contributions? ANSWER: The PRINT and BROADCAST MEDIA gets more and more business from the political ads politicians and their front groups place. Politicians and their front groups gain leverage over the print and broadcast media by holding their power of ad placement over their head. (ie. If NBC Universal does not support our position, we'll place our ads elsewhere). And so we end up with media greed putting more and more pressure on politicians to place business with them and more and more alliance of such politicians with what was intended to be the independant "fourth estate" watchdog on government (ie. The biased Government-Media Complex, or as some refer to it recently "The Government Controlled Media").
In my view, the above situation puts more pressure on the lawyers lobby to contribute more and more to politicians who funnel such funds to the greedy media. And so they work harder and harder to get higher and higher medical liability awards. This toxic effect increases doctor's malpractice insurance premiums which are passed through in the form of higher and higher health insurance premiums which raise costs for all.
If politicians were serious about heathcare reform, they'd face this toxic corrupt circle, but they fear losing the campaign contributions - the very same dollars they spend on political ads to get re-elected.
So it seems to me that CAMPAIGN FINANCE needs urgently to be reformed if the healthcare/insurance cost challenge is to be successfully solved.
1. LIMIT CAMPAIGNING TO 3 MONTHS BEFORE ELECTION DAY.
2. STRICT TERM LIMITS FOR ALL SENATORS and REPRESENTATIVES.
3. CAP MEDICAL LIABILITY AWARDS as done successfully in California.
4. NO GOVERNMENT OWNED OR CONTROLLED HEALTH INSURANCE OPTION - Not now, not in the future triggered by some event, not masked as a "coop" or "exchange"
5. NO GOVERNMENT ACCESS TO OUR HEALTH RECORDS and NO GOVERNMENT EXPANDED ACCESS TO OUR FINANCIAL RECORDS.
6. LIMITED TAX CREDIT Financed insurance coverage for THE 8 million poverty level U.S. citizens who can prove they deserve such credits. No coverage for the 20 million ILLEGAL ALIENS and No coverage to others who can otherwise afford coverage but chose not to carry it and pay for medical care as incurred.

Later term Life insurance policies are no longer paying enough to cover death, given the rates of the funeral homes. What are people supposed to do? Bury grandma in the backyard?
And ... what is the Chinese number? Shoddy merchandise is eating into American efficiency, causing people to have to return items again, and again. One can take the item back to Shopko,
Walmart, etc., but it takes time and energy to do
so. SO isn't there a Chinese number we could call
to let them know? What are then on, ma huang?

Checkers, all anyone needs to do is limit all political contributions to individuals, in the amount of $100, per one candidate for each office in each election cycle. ALL organizations, governments, businesses, foreign entities or individuals, would be prohibited from making any political contributions whatsoever. The penalty would be simple; ONE infraction and the candidate is out of the race until the next cycle. THREE STRIKES are you are barred from holding office permanently.
All business owners and organizations would be prohibited from making any kind of bonuses or incentives to their employees or members in regards to political contributions. Any organization caught doing so would lose its charter; any business would lose its license. No exceptions.
THAT would clean up politics instantly, overnight, and end war as we know it to boot.
Just capitalism would reign supreme.
