And what has disturbed me is his enablers in the press. When Obama tells the press to "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" they dutifully put on the blinders and go after the Townhall "mob" instead of asking Obama the hard questions about his health care bill. Everytime he makes a speech they call it the next Gettysburg Address even if it is full of blather.

Somehow he thinks a long vacation will recharge his batteries and get him back on his game. Unfortunately for the country it's not a matter of rest, the problem is there is no substance to this guy. He is a snake oil salesman. I hate to tell America "I told you so" but I had this guy pegged from the beginning. From day one. He gives a slick speech but there never was any substance to his speeches--it was all platitudes and blather. I always found him boring and dishonest. Take for example his long time Pastor, Jeremiah Wright. At first he insisted he would never disown his Pastor, and then when Wright became a political liability, Wright was body slammed under the bus.

He has no vision whatsoever. He likes to drone on and on about moral platitudes like how we need to provide health insurance for everyone but then has no problem with increasing the national debt by 2 trillion dollars over the next ten years (from 7 to 9 trillion) in the blink of an eye. What that tells me he is mostly interested in a political agenda.

FK

Presidents can leave the White House, but they are never truly on vacation. Wherever they are, they continue to get briefed and have to make decisions.

But if presidents shouldn't take long vacations, maybe we can revisit the issue of the long vacation that Bush took at his ranch in the summer of 2001, right before the 9/11 attacks?

Facts must be garlic to uber-conservatives. After reading MM in the Washington Times one would think that Obama is a slacker.
Until what I read about GWB in the crosstown WAPO just 1/2-way into his presidency:

"The August getaway is Bush's 49th trip to his cherished ranch since taking office and Tuesday was the 319th day that Bush has spent, entirely or partially, in Crawford -- roughly 20 percent of his presidency to date, according to Mark Knoller, a CBS Radio reporter known for keeping better records of the president's travel than the White House itself. Weekends and holidays at Camp David or at his parents' compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, bump up the proportion of Bush's time away from Washington even further.

Bush's long vacations are more than a curiosity..."

Sie big shoe Brzezinski, does not believe markets favorable to the West, will develop in China.
Meanwhile the Obama administration pledged to get control of the deficits once the economic crisis is resolved. It also pressed China to reshape its economy to rely more on domestic demand and less on exports that drive up the U.S. trade deficit.

Obama is not saying this to the Chinese, but to US - so we do not get panicked. What would it take for
domestic markets to develop in China? Everything it does not have politically : a) free press, publicity, and advertizing; b) less money to the state; c) consumer based economy. These changes will not occur in our lifetimes.

What could we do about it? We could demand China lower tariffs. We could raise our tariffs. We could sell them drugs. Of these only the last two are possible.

As time goes by, presure on China only is likely to produce reactionary changes, leaving its
economic aggressiveness of unchecked and the trade gap ever increasing. Without changes in China,
there must be economic changes here that reflect these realities. We can still do this without active conflict, but as times goes by and China remains obdurate(or oblivious), conflict will be all that remains. We are far too committed to an economic policy that cannot succeed in the time frame it has for success. We are trying to accomplish changes in China in 20 years that would mostly likely take 100 yrs. or more if ever.

Our economy cannot withstand this for much longer - maybe only 1-2 more years.

Shows nothing, since I have already retracted. I regret that I wasn't aware of Teddy's shortened period of Army service (as an "honor guard," a term which seems singularly ill-suited to Teddy Kennedy), that appears to have been mostly a European vacation for him arranged by his politically powerful father to keep him away from Korea, where boys with less influential fathers were being killed daily. I have admitted my mistake and so so again now, in hopes that you are paying attention this time.

At the same time, like his statute-spewing predecessor here, Slimebert, Sr. he doesn't hesitate to a pretense of knowledge and wisdom while sliming and misrepresenting Americans who have spent years of their lives in a place he has no experience of, Vietnam. But with this paper knowledge, like any sophomoric "anti-imperialist," he doesn't hesitate to practice his sleazy "lawfare," like his Bush-hunting mentor, the highly educated Chilean de California y Baja, El Professor Kooky (he knows exactly who I mean.) Nor does he even respond when I catch him in a ludicrous lie and challenge him to put up money on it.

Dollar destined to be second class currency in world's largest banana republic

September 1, 2009
PrintEmail to a Friend

* Analysis by: Michael Lynch
* Analysis of: The Dollar's Fate
* Published at: www.nytimes.com

Summary

Professor of History Kennedy notes debate about the reserve status of the U.S. Dollar. The issue arose at the G-20 meeting in London in April and again in Yekaterinburg two months later when Brazil, Russia, China and India discussed shifting out of the dollar. Italian scholar Antonio Mosconi wrote in " The World Supremacy of the Dollar at the Rendering (1917-2008)" that the dollar is the currency of the "empire of debt" and as such, is in its last convulsion. This crisis is not like the others.
Analysis

The mainspring of the American commercial and industrial system is broken. If it is not repaired, and soon, the general economy will continue to spiral down into lethargy. This will inevitably lead to political consequences now only dimly foreseen. The town hall demonstrations during the congressional summer recess were subtle indications that Americans are beginning to realize that the functionaries cannot cope with the gathering storm. The eye of this awesome turbulence now looming well above the horizon is the ruined U.S. Treasury. Plans to run the national debt up to $9 trillion by 2019 have catastrophic dimensions. With a currency that has no future, the political game cannot long go on. The only exit strategy remaining now is default which the government is reluctant to embrace (to say the least). The current financial philosophy leads to eventual chaos. Default, of course, has its own peculiar consequences. The greatest one is that the U.S.A. immediately loses superpower status and is reduced to the role of banana republic. Little consolation can derive from the fact that it will be the world's largest such state. Without the ability to finance anything, American foreign policy will become fiction, domestic policy will amount to oratory without substance. The American people will quickly tire of the moribund federal government and replace it with one that can be more easily controlled. It is difficult to say exactly what form the new government might be. Perhaps a unicameral legislature composed of the several governors with a governor-in-chief of brief and limited power. The citizenry would formally or tacitly bring into being their powers of political assassination, popular political tools in all of the BRIC countries. But however the political questions are resolved, the fundamental economic, commercial and industrial issues would remain. Obviously in a world where foreign currencies are supreme, implications for the laboring classes are severe. A possibility is to forgo the concept of "internationalization" and revert to a closed system where there are neither imports nor exports. The citizens make an economy based upon what can be produced domestically. Implications for transportation, energy and industry are obvious. If the American system continues to drift, as it seems certain to do, then Brazil, Russia, India and China, and others will take whatever steps are necessary to pull their own systems back from the abyss (which they are now clearly doing). From this will emerge an international system of trade with the U.S.A. largely excluded unless gold is used to pay for transactions. When the gold is gone, international transactions cease. None of the above suggests that the world is coming to an end. The Soviet Union, for much of its 70 year tenure was not a world power. Modern Russia is still a work-in-progress. China, only now, is coming into its own. India has unrealized potential. Brazil, with great oil potential promises to be a power for years. The European Union will prosper. Life will go on, even for Americans, but their standards of living will decrease as the dollar fades.

I am passing this on:

Fact: Obama is bringing Islamic terrorists to the U.S.

"HB 1388 PASSED"

Whether you are an Obama fan, or not, EVERYONE IN
THE U. S. needs to know....

Something happened... H.R. 1388 was passed
yesterday, behind our backs. You may want to read about it..
It wasn' t mentioned on the
news... just went by on the ticker tape at the bottom of
the CNN
screen.

Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate
Hamas Refugees to the USA . This is the news that didn't ' t
make the headlines...

By executive order, President Barack Obama has
ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration
assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict
victims" in Gaza .

The "presidential determination", which allows
hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to
resettle in the United States , was signed on January 27 and
appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.

Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that
the order
provides a free ticket replete with housing and food
allowances to individuals who have displayed their
overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement
(Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

Let ' s review....itemized list of some of Barack
Obama ' s most recent actions since his inauguration:
His first call to any head of state, as president,
was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the
Palestinian territory.

His first one-on-one television interview with any
news organization was with Al Arabia television.

His first executive order was to fund/facilitate
abortion(s) not just here within the U. S. , but within the
world, using U. S. tax payer funds.

He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military
trials of detainees halted.

He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers
closed.

He withdrew all charges against the masterminds
behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.

Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of
thousands of Palestinian
refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American
taxpayer expense.

These important, and insightful, issues are being
"lost" in the blinding bail-outs and "stimulation" packages.

Doubtful? To verify this for yourself:

progressoverpeace (mail):

krs:

The birthers, as I understand it, aren't raising questions about the text, but are purely questioning the factual circumstances surrounding Obama's birth...

The main issue for the "birthers" (and that label was only applied to try and ridicule the idea that someone must have an official body verify ones Constitutional eligibility to serve in the Presidency) is the idea that dual/multiple citizens are not natural-born citizens, as per the Constitution, no matter the circumstances of their birth.

Most people thought that candidates were actually screened for Constitutional eligibility before getting into any of the races, but the sad fact is that no such thing ever happened, in any of the states. The situation was so bad that Roger Calero got on the Presidential ballot in 6 states, both in 2004 and 2008, and not only is Roger Claero born in Nicaragua, but he isn't even a US citizen. He's a green-card holder, on the Presidential ballot. So, the "birthers" want the operational definition of "natural born citizen" to be clearly laid out and want the court to rule whether The Precedent's falls within that definition. This requires an examination of his records, from birth certificate to school records, passports, visas, ... though The Precedent already admits that he held other citizenships.

As to the issue of the particular circumstances of his birth, it is just funny to notice that no one can tell you what actual hospital the guy was born at. He's claimed two different ones, himself, and the White House doesn't seem to know. One hospital had a letter from The Precedent up on its website (a web facsimile), thanking them for being his birth hospital, but took it down when someone asked them about it. Interestingly, you can still see the letter in the html source for the page (the hospital merely commented it out, down around line 450 of the source).

Anyway, the bulk of those questioning The Precedent's eligibility are relying on the idea that dual citizens are not natural born citizens, no matter the birth. But if it turns out that he wasn't born in the US, then he isn't eligible by that standard, too. The problem is that too many people are trying too hard to intentionally ignore the situation, when it's clear that there are huge problems with it.

The thing that should set off everyone's alarm bells about the whole Obama questions is this. The first release of the electronic copy of his birth certificate was made to the dailyKOS about 3 days before it appeared on his official web site.

That would be akin to Bush making his speech laying out the reasons for the Iraq war on the Heritage Foundations web site 3 days before it was released officially by the white house.

Everyone should be highly suspicious of the whole thing on that factor alone.

I am not saying that there is any truth to the dozens of different claims out there, but as the old saying goes, it is usually the cover-up that gets you.

Congress can't make someone a natural-born citizen by fiat - either you were a citizen at birth or you weren't.

No, but Congress can give a judiciary already reluctant to take a case the excuse they need to refuse it.

I've concluded that Obama must find the birthers useful in some way, perhaps he's got some OTHER problem, and figures that as long as they're chasing a red herring, they won't find it. Otherwise he could have put this to bed by releasing the real birth certificate, instead of the certificate of live birth.

http://volokh.com/posts/1251868126.shtml

gringoNOTE: Why would Professor Cool find "birthers" useful? How about....

1. dual citizenship? The BC could be beside the point, and therefore a useful red herring.

2. Triple citizenship? Ibid.

3. Indonesian citizenship by virtue of losing his US citizenship in childhood. Ibid.

4. The purpose of hiding all his school and other personal records would be to keep the waters(mentioned above) nice and muddy and speculative. Ibid.

5. The above show why he would continue to hide his birth certificate (assuming he really has an authentic one.) Creating a "birther" movement works as a decoy, a diversionary tactic to keep eyes off of his obvious ineligibility for the highest office in the land.

a. If one day he suddenly produced an "authentic" BC, his media flunkeys would immediately trumpet 'CASE CLOSED' while having a great howl of laughter at the expense of the "birthers".

The jokes on obama- The chinese want fiscal resposiblity NOW- they will no longer support our debt if obama - the drunken marxist sailor - keeps piling on the deficit AND KEEPS LYING ABOUT IT. China has given Obama a fall dealine to reverse course on deficit spending- or they will no longer buy our debt. They have been stockpiling hard assets and will be in the drivers seat very soon. Sarah will explain and assure the chinese Americans are responsible people. she will succeed where geithner lied and failed.

The question is, can the Republicans convince the pornbelt? Let the charming and talented Gina Cobb weigh in, or, Debbie Schlussel (dubbed by gv 'The Hebrew Hammer'. She is also a real attorney, ... Like Orly Taitz, a Russian emigre who understands the Left; and Philadelphia attorney, Philip Berg, who took on the million dollar Obama legal machine.
So can the Repubs find their manhood? Will they? Could they?
Your honest answer is advised.

"Goodness knows where such people spring from," wondered Nicholas, as he sometimes recalled the unlooked-for Fourierist.

===from THE POSSESSED, Fyodor Mikhailovitch Dostoyevsky

gringoNOTE: for graduates of Shyster Evening School, 'Fourierist' of course is a reference to Charles Fourier, 19th century Utopian Socialist, hence a patriarch of the later socialists who morphed into the Marxists, the Stalinists, the Fidelistas, the Chavistas, the Obotniks etc and, as we can see, even current cyberstalkers who have found "faith" but do not confirm or deny ACLU affiliation.

PW Cyberstalker is advised not to mess with right-wing Debbie. She passed her bar exam on the first try.
