RALPH PETERS/// Prime minister during the Iran-Iraq War, Mousavi is viewed as economically sound in a land tormented by inflation and joblessness. By Iranian standards, he's a moderate. And he's stressed the damage done to Iran by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Holocaust denials.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06122009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/irans_choice__ballots__nukes__nuts_173817.htm

WARRIOR PRINCESS///Mirhossein Mousavi, was Prime Minister under the Ayatollah Khomenei, and has 144 extraterritorial assassinations on his resume. In addition, he oversaw the 1983 attack on our military barracks in Beirut which killed 241 U.S. servicemen. He also believes in the Iranian march to nuclear weapons. Some "moderate."

gringoNOTE: OMG! RALPH PETERS is a U.S. Army Intel specialist and Fox News strategic analyst. In his column today, although he references Mousavi's role in Iran's nuclear program, he makes no mention of Mousavi's expertise in assassination and the Beirut Barracks atrocity. Is Monica's Intel that much better than his? Or is Ralph just beginning to lose his mojo?

From Tehran to Tennessee,
Gambling at the table,
Or sometimes, when you're able,
Even with the Mullahcracy.
Can you see what's in their faces?
Is it bluff or is it aces?

The Gambler
by Kenny Rogers

On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces,
And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Now evry gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause evry hands a winner and evry hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

So when hed finished speakin, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

M/M, I am sorry my sorry Mets had to hand the Stankees an undeserved victory tonight, but hey, they are the losin' Mutts..

I know we're not going anywhere with this team but I really hoped to help you guys out against the hated Evil Empire.

Let's see what happens this weekend, but I don't have much confidence.

I am sad to say you guys are on your own and I *KNOW* you can DO IT w/o our help.

Be glad the Wilpons don't own your team is all I can say.. oh boy.. we Mets fans have to take a lot!

You guys do have a better team than the Stankees so you better win all this weekend.

I just got home and read the report online.. ugghhh.. LY !!

GO SOX!!!!!

We should loan you Santana for the season since we're definitely DONE, sad to say.

We've just thrown away two games vs. the Phils and one vs. the hated STANKEES.. I am So depressed.. almost as bad as seeing Obama win the election.. which looked just as inevitable as the Mets going ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!

Seized US bonds are worth US$ 134.5 billion. The whole affair touches a number of economic and political issues. For some the resignation of Japan’s Interior minister might be related to it.

Sorry to hear about the Mets last night UG. I was thinking about you. Don't give up. You never know.

I KNOW how frustrating it can be. Remember, we weren't always winning. The 2003 playoffs against the Yankees were extremely painful. I didn't see Big Papi rally the Sox in 2004 because I was so depressed that I couldn't watch.

Thanks for your support. I let all the Yankee fans I could find have it yesterday. Good luck with your subway series.

GO METS!!!!!!

Is Blago innocent? Is anyone is Illinois innocent?
What is not commonly known is that Blago passed a strong ethics reform bill in Ill, and soon thereafter he became very unpopular. The Tribune called for his impeachment.

did Illinois get rid of the reform man? All I know is, in the state, people are advocating Mike Ditka for Governor, a man who has no experience in politics whatever.

Obama, on the other hand, has not forwarded any reform measures - Did he learn this from Blago?

Dgscol

From the Washington Post :

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her husband lost hundreds of thousands of dollars investing in American International Group, which has received $170 billion in government loans and cash injections, making it by far the largest recipient of federal bailout dollars. Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and his wife held stock, retirement plans and other investments worth at least $183,000 and as much as $495,000 in firms benefiting from federal government rescue efforts, including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley.

At least 18 members of the House Financial Services Committee -- which oversees the banking and housing industries at the core of the economic meltdown -- held stock last year in firms that received federal bailout assistance, according to a review of the forms that were available yesterday.
ad_icon

The release of the annual disclosure forms was not scheduled to occur until tomorrow, but the House clerk's office briefly posted many of them online yesterday, apparently by accident. A firm called LegiStorm captured the data and posted them on its Web site. The Senate will release its forms tomorrow.

Are we NUTS to allow them to come into our countries, house clothe and feed them and allow them to preach our destruction?!

Wow, for ONCE I a AGREE with Monica, until the 'President' of Iran has REAL power and is not just a puppet of the REAL power which is the Ayatollah, it hardly matters who sits in that position.

Ummahgummah

.

Just yesterday I heard the Bama taking credit for the "change" in iran.

Today.. he is SILENT in the face of massive election fraud and the brutal beatdowns of the demonstrations which ensued in the wake of this obvious fraud.

.

Ummahgummah

.

Even though Achichbineinjihadnazi is merely a figurehead and the man elected to replace him would have been the same.. those powers behind the curtain still decided they preferred the jihadnazi over the "reformist" Mussaoui.

Right now there are huge demonstrations being suppressed over there.

God to see that there is more opposition to the jihadnazi in iran itself than what we see in the White House.

.

Ummahgummah

.

I am so glad we have Monica on Saturdays.. The Mets are pitching their #6 starter today against the Stankees..

Our last hope might be that we could be mediocre all year like the '05 Cardinals and then somehow get lucky in the Playoffs..

But then.. we don't have a lucky team.

Interestingly Rev Al Sharpton and Rev Jesse Jackson are not picketing outside of the Ed Sullivan theater hmmmmm Letterman doesn't have to worry about being Imused?

Thanks for the kind words about my Mutts, M/M.. we're ahead going into the 9th but.. who knows.. being a Mets fan is being fatalistic.

We never get a cheap win!

We just give them to others.

Almost like the Conservative Movement here in the USA.

Nothing ever comes easy.. we have to work for our victories.

Your welcome UG. Thanks for support during the Red Sox/Yankee games.

I was watching Thursday’s game in a bar and guy there was a Red Sox/Mets fan. He told me that the Mets started in 1961 and were terrible. (Of course, the seemed to have improved by ’69 and ’86 ).

I don’t know how those Red Sox fans could watch them lose for all those years. I started watching them in ’99 and 2003 almost did me in.

M/M

Well, I can see my e-mail to CBS did a lot of good. I bet the people who criticized Imus for his joke about the college basketball players will appear on Letterman’s show.

HOW TO STEAL AN ELECTION IN IRAN

http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/2009/06/anatomy_of_iran/

"On the basis of what we know so far, here is the sequence of events starting on the afternoon of election day, Friday, June 12.

* Near closing time of the polls, mobile text messaging was turned off nationwide
* Security forces poured out into the streets in large numbers
* The Ministry of Interior (election headquarters) was surrounded by concrete barriers and armed men
* National television began broadcasting pre-recorded messages calling for everyone to unite behind the winner
* The Mousavi campaign was informed officially that they had won the election, which perhaps served to temporarily lull them into complacency
* But then the Ministry of Interior announced a landslide victory for Ahmadinejad
* Unlike previous elections, there was no breakdown of the vote by province, which would have provided a way of judging its credibility
* The voting patterns announced by the government were identical in all parts of the country, an impossibility (also see the comments of Juan Cole at the title link)
* Less than 24 hours later, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamene`i publicly announced his congratulations to the winner, apparently confirming that the process was complete and irrevocable, contrary to constitutional requirements
* Shortly thereafter, all mobile phones, Facebook, and other social networks were blocked, as well as major foreign news sources."

I watched your McLaughlin segment this morning, taped before the Iranian presidential election. Others were tripping over themselves about the possibility of a change in leadership in Iran and the apparent strength of the opposition. You correctly pointed out that even if there was a change in the presidency all of the candidates were hand picked by the Governing Council which would preclude any substantive change. And of course the end result was that Ahmadinejad "won." I am a Democrat and was solidly in the dream camp of change at the top in Iran. I need to start listening closely to what you have to say about this and other matters.

Ummahgummah

.

Good to see you growing a brain, Harry Katz. May others follow your example and be man enough to admit the errors of their previous ways :-)

M/M we have Santana pitching today and we're handing the Stankies yet another win..

Number one return on the Google search was:

You should know that "dar al-harb" means "House of War".

ThePaganTemple

I'm looking at this as though the glass were half-full. Seeing as how Obama and Biden seem to so badly want the other guy to have won, how bad could it be that Ahmadinajahd won? I know he's a bad guy, but what do we really know about the other guy? He could be more of a commie or leftist type like Mossadegh in the fifties.

Here's something else to think about. I'm sure the mullahs were taken completely by surprised at the spectacle of so many people protesting so vociferously at the outcome of this election. That's got to give them pause. It might make them think seriously about the consequences of some of their actions and policies, and they might moderate them slightly. Just maybe.

PaganTemple, nice blog about David Letterman’s disgusting joke. I sent CBS an e-mail about why I no longer watch CBS. Yesterday, I was looking for the news, and switched to a local station, rather than put on NBC or CBS.

I listen to talk radio 24/7 because I want to get away from these people, especially when they “put down” Gov. Palin. As a woman, I can’t tell you how offended I am by the sexist and racist coverage of Gov. Palin and her daughters. You CERTAINLY don’t hear that on talk radio. Even Savage, who is NOT a Gov. Palin fan, thought Letterman’s humor was WAY over the line.

You can send an e-mail to CBS and tell them EXACTLY what you think of them.

Oh, look what Conan O’Brien is joking about:

“It goes without saying that if you change the races -- make a "joke" about African-American women or Latinas -- you'll be groveling at Al Sharpton's feet before the show ends.

But women, specifically white women, make up the last group that one may freely stereotype to get a cheap laugh.”
