If Ségolène Royal, one of the most attractive women in European politics, yet a leader in the French Socialist party, were to come to Central Park and her handlers booked the Rolling Stones to “warm up” the crowd, I am most certain we would see 200,000 visitors, perhaps more. It would still be opaque whether they were there for the Stones or for Ségolène, if they were inclined to socialism or they were there to see a beautiful woman, if they wanted to hear Wild Horses or couldn’t care less for French politics. I am certain, however, that the French press would carry the story as a triumph for Madame Royal.

What I find curious is how a man, nice enough in other respects, who has accomplished absolutely nothing in life except to run for office can be viewed with the adoration of a rock start. Yet a man who voluntarily submitted himself to unbearable torture for a time period the equivalent of an entire Presidential term because it was the honorable thing to do for his fellow American POWs is NOT viewed as the rock star. Whether one agrees with his politics or whether he should be President, it is men like these, men who do the right and honorable thing even under extreme pressure, who should be venerated by throngs.

One can visualize the following Obama headline:

Michael is correct. In the big Berlin "rally," POTUS wannabe Barack Hussein Obama was, in effect, the self-imposed guest speaker at a rock concert. As in Portland months earlier, this was New Slick/David Axelrod's way of getting thousands of kiddies (including the greying kind) to come and look impressive for the adoring cameras and mediacrities.

The Berlin event, despite being staged in the Tiergarten of the pagan Goddess of Victory, was meant to come off more like the Adoration of the Magi, multiplied by thousands, with excited Euros coming to worship the nicely tanned Messiah.

Luckily for the David Axelrod apostles,
the BrianKatieCharlie Media did not communicate some of the less holy developments.

Egs. Many of the assembled, attracted by free beer and shish kebab (Donnerkebab) from a German chain enterprise, became impatient when realizing they had to listen to some dude go on and on and he wasn't even playing a guitar or whomping on a drum.

The Obama faithful, watching in the US, wondered why there did not seem to be as much excitement and wild hosannas as a Messiah should get.

Fortunately for them, they were spared scenes of the mega "Magi," around the end of the speech, beered up a bit, wanting to rock, and hurling half-eaten free shish kebab in the general direction of this foreign eminence who wasn't even shaking his thing.

You can imagine how the Secret Service sprung into action.

(Was CuchiGringo perhaps prescient earlier in advising us that "Daveed Axelrod, when he see dee poll numbers comin', he gonna need big aspirin, or Tylenol"? I.e. How can McCain/Obama numbers be so close when the Republicans are so impotent? And Dems repeat ad infinitum that Johnny Boy is McBush?)

A radio show I was listening to last night made the point that one of the reasons that the liberal Europeans love Obama is because of his skin color. Although, Obama's former pastor, Reverend Wright, has referred to our country as "the U.S. of KKK", the radio commentator said that the U.S. has more non-whites in positions of power in both government and business than Europe.

Just off the top of my head, I'm thinking about: Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court Judge, appointed by George H.W. Bush; Colin Powell, former Secretary of State to "W" and National Security Advisor to Ronald Reagan; and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, who was meeting with Iran while Obama was on his "world tour". In business, Oprah is one of the most influential and wealthiest non-white women in the world.

I don't have the numbers to back me up, but it would be interesting to compare "the U.S. of KKK" with Europe to see how non-whites do there and here. As for Reverend Wright, he seems to be retiring in "high style". Here is a picture of his $1.6 million home.

Ummah, that's false. The visit was cancelled when the Pentagon informed the Obama campaign that the visit would be deemed as a political event. This line about cameras and all is cute, but false.

Obama granted Fox's Bill Hemmer an interview and Obama explained why he did not visit the troops.

Obama says to Bill: "We got wind that there was some concern that this might be perceived as political because we were using campaign resources." He goes on to say that he didn't want to distract the terrific work being done treating our troops and he didn't want it to be a distraction since he had a chance to visit the troops in Iraq.

Bill Hemmer says: "To be clear, the Pentagon says "No cameras and no campaigning". Obama responded with "That part of it is easy. We had never intended to take cameras in. There is hint that it might be perceived to be political because of some blow back he received." He said that he visited Walter Reed three weeks ago and no one knew about it.

Great show on the McLaughlin Group this week and excellent discussion on the Obama trip. Monica you looked particularly stunning this week. I didn't even miss Pat Buchanan.

My opinion is that this trip really didn't help Obama that much. I don't think anything has changed as a result of this trip. The American people didn't see or hear anything they didn't already know about Obama from this trip. At the end of the day, Obama is still a one term (partial term) Senator with no experience whatsoever.
