Today voters head to the polls in Wisconsin in an election the Democrats pushed to try to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker. His reforms---including eliminating most collective bargaining privileges (and they ARE privileges, not "rights") for most government-sector unions, sent the leftists into a tizzy. Walker slammed a padlock on the candy store that had been raided by Democrats and unions for decades as they gorged themselves on taxpayer money. Walker, facing a $3.6 billion deficit, said, "No more." Since his reforms have been in place, he has closed the budget deficit, created over 100,000 new jobs, brought the unemployment rate down, and got the state growing again. Not only are his reforms working, they're popular: a solid majority of Wisconsinites supports Walker. A recent poll showed that 39% of UNION households plan to vote for him today.
If Walker wins, it will embolden other GOP (and possibly some Democrat) governors to do what they need to do to bring fiscal health back to their states: break the stranglehold the government unions have had and the incestuous relationship they've enjoyed with the Democrat party. Protect the taxpayer: imagine that.
So: if you live in Wisconsin, please remember to vote today for Governor Walker. Reaffirming his leadership means making a solid first step in getting this country back on track toward limited government and fiscal responsibility. Imagine that.
