Revenge is a dish best served cold. Very cold. Rodham cold.
Four years ago, a Nobody with a Nothing resume, zero executive skills, and a cornucopia of radical beliefs and associations popped up from Chicago. With a combination of personal magnetism and a see-through message of "hope and change," he ascended rapidly, so quickly that the vaunted Clinton machine couldn't keep up. The Obama brand was born, cultivated, and deployed---and in record time it smashed the Clinton brand, and Hillary was forced into the humiliating position of having to cast her lot with the Nobody Nothing from Chicago.
She had to suck it up, accept the Secretary of State gig, and pretend to forgive---and like---her boss. That may have been a bit easier to take for her than it was for her husband. Bill Clinton---our 42nd president and national treasure---has not and will never forgive the Nobody Nothing from Chicago. Obama ripped off Bill's 1992 campaign, right down to "The Man from Hope" theme. Clinton also cannot forgive Obama for pulling the race card on him; he will go to his grave wishing the Nobody Nothing from Chicago great ill will for that. He hates that the Chicago Nobody Nothing beat his wife for the nomination, thereby denying him a third term. He cannot---he will not---abide the Chicago messiah.
It was therefore only a matter of time before Clinton went rogue. He's lavishing praise on Mitt Romney, calling his business leadership record "sterling;" he called for the extension of all of the Bush tax rates. He asked an Obama audience: "Remember me?" He then proceeded to remind them that he's the guy who gave us four annual budget surpluses. As opposed to the Nobody Nothing from Chicago who has run annual deficits of $1.3 to $1.5 trillion dollars and piled on an unprecedented $5 trillion to the national debt in 3 years. He told the American people that we're already in a "recession." Meaning: the Obama economy sucks! Like we didn't already know. "Remember me?"
Meanwhile, Hillary pulls her hair back into a ponytail, shrugs on her pantsuits, and flies off to far-flung places to do not much--except watch Team Obama flail and begin to fall apart. Obama's poll numbers are sinking along with his economy. His money haul, while still impressive at $60 million in May, lagged behind Romney's that month ($76 million.) Some might even call Romney's fundraising performance "sterling."
Things might recover for Obama, but for now they look quite grim. So Bill has moved in like a suave vampire, lunging seductively for Obama's jugular. And Hillary savors the slide of her once fearsome opponent.
It's been quite the reversal of fortune for the Nobody Nothing from Chicago. And the Clintons of Chappequa are enjoying their ice cold dinner.
