Over the past few months, the Obama campaign team and the Left have dropped the following issues into the national debate and let them explode like political IEDs:
A manufactured "movement" centered on "income inequality," Occupy Wall Street.
A Health and Human Services mandate to religious institutions to provide insurance coverage for contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs in direct violation of their most deeply-held beliefs.
A manufactured and outrageous lie that the GOP was waging a "war on women."
Gay marriage and Obama's alleged anguished "evolution" in thinking on it.
Mitt Romney's alleged history as a prankster in high school in 1965.
Team Obama and the Left are very effective in tossing these grenades, watching them explode, and then sucking the entire nation into a discussion about them.
But remember: while all of the lemmings in the media are chasing each other off the cliff on these "stories," we must stay focused on the issues that actually matter and on which this election will be decided: unemployment, anemic economic activity, unprecedented spending, record-breaking deficits and debt, and socialized medicine.
Each day we're talking about the "war on women" or birth control or whether Romney gave someone a wedgie 45 years ago, we're not talking about Obama's appalling record of destruction.
Stay focused. Don't get distracted by the Left's decoy IEDs. This time, we play on OUR turf, not their manufactured bogus ones.
