Despite a relentless leftwing onslaught against the New York Police Department for monitoring Muslims---led by the disgusting New York Times and the atrocious Associated Press---big majorities of New Yorkers approve of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.
The New York Post reports that a Quinnipiac Poll released today shows Bloomberg with a 54-35 approve/disapprove split, and Kelly with an astounding 64-25 percent split. On the question of the NYPD's effectiveness in combating terrorism, an extraordinary 82 percent of voters approve of the job the cops are doing.
Police surveillance of the individuals and groups most likely to commit acts of terrorism is absolutely necessary---particularly in the city that has been hit twice by Islamic terrorists: in 1993 and of course again in 2001. New York remains the number one target.
New Yorkers may be a largely liberal bunch, but when it comes to terrorism and issues of life and death, they get it. Authorities need to do what they need to do to keep us safe.
It's a victory for common sense.
