Obama's Rolling In It

Well, he's done it again.

Barack Obama has taken a promise he made about his use of campaign money and dropped kicked it as far away as possible.

In 2008, Obama pledged to use public financing for his presidential campaign as a way to limit the influence of big money in the election. That pledge lasted about 5 minutes after he realized he could rake in huge amounts of dough simply by being Barack. That, in turn, gave rise to the first nearly billion dollar campaign by any candidate.

This time around, Obama made a different kind of pledge: he would reject Super PACs, those newly minted entities that can spend unlimited money on behalf of a candidate but which are not connected to the candidate. He has repeatedly criticized Super PACs, although he will certainly benefit from them once the unions and other big left-wing groups get rolling. But he has attacked them as immoral, and most Democrats have joined him in the faux outrage.

Just last week, NY Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer pounded Karl Rove and his GOP Super PAC, calling it "a disaster for our democracy." He was flanked by leftist Sens. Al Franken and Sheldon Whitehouse, who are on a Democrat "task force" to try to draw attention to the "negative effects of Super PACs."

They might have a more a difficult time doing that now that Obama has reversed himself and is now embracing them. He is now encouraging the big money to go into Super PACs. He's suddenly decided that they're not so bad, and that besides, those evil Republicans are loading up on Super PAC dough, so why not us? Super PACs for everyone!

For a man obsessed with wealth redistribution, he's far more interested in redistributing everyone else's wealth than his own. And his campaign's.

Whatever it takes, baby. Whatever it takes.

And we should be surprised? Money and favors have always been the lubricant of politics. A century ago the Progressive Movement tried to curb some of that with the civil service system. That worked to some extent, but has become corrupted. Comically, for all the whining some do about the evils of Progressives while applauding the Tea Party, the Tea Party is the Progressive Movement of this century who call for the same objectives of reducing corruption and returning more representation to the people. Then there is the problem, made larger by a global economy, that most of the world considers what we call corruption to be the natural way to do business and politics. Religious extremists claim the solution is to give up and turn to a dictatorial theocracy. That won't suit many of us. As difficult and messy as it is freedom is still what we prefer.

Why the wonder that Wall Street's favorite Marxist is going Super Pac? Hasn't Wall Street's favorite corporate raider, Mandate Mitt, shown what it can do against conservatives? Haven't Willard's out=spending and out-smearing every rival in sight made the case?

Later, The Dems wanted to remove the act. But the Conservative's with their klan buddies do what they could to stop it.

Several conservative politicians, one being Thompson, told are criminals that any crimes they were arrested for. the charges would be removed.
