Obama's Beloved 1 Percent

The hypocrisy coming from Barack Obama knows no bounds. He is utterly shameless. Devoid of principle. Doesn't care that what he says and what he does are two vastly different things---because he knows the leftwing media will never call him on it.

The latest Obama mega-hypocrisy: after spending years railing against "millionaires and billionaires," "corporate jet owners" and "the 1 percent," Obama is poised to accept his party's nomination at a convention built for them.

The Washington Free Beacon has the story today (http://freebeacon.com/concierge-convention-in-charlotte/) about the Democrats' plans to offer up million dollar packages, half million dollar packages, luxury skyboxes at the Bank of America stadium where Obama's acceptance speech will take place, and concierge services to the biggest donors.

This from a man and a party which have crucified the nation's highest earners and financial institutions (such as the Bank of America) and evil, greedy capitalists who haven't "paid their fair share" and who need to be forced to "spread the wealth around."

Obama had always positioned himself as something of a "man of the people" even as he strode far above them; a Transcendent Guy, who knew better than the people but who championed their cause nonetheless.

Of course, that was all major BS.

Obama is a hypocrite and a liar. He's all for attacking the "rich" but he's got his grubby hand out for their big money. He loathes the 1 percent--until it's time to run.

But I cast in even greater contempt the 1 percent who continue to give him their money even after they've been attacked, abused and slammed by this president. How did they make their fortunes, given that they're so dumb? "Did you like that punch to the face?" "Why yes, sir, may I have another?"

We know that Obama is as phony as a $3 bill, driven solely by ideology and the politics it requires. What explanation for stupidity do his big donors have?

Back in the day, when I was pretty critical of Reagan, I said that the way the Soviet Union was brought down would be a pyrrhic victory. I wonder now if this was more prescient than I knew. E.g. It's clear that US backing the Mujahadeen dealt a body blow to the Russians, who were in fact liberating the Afghan women from muslim fanatics.

This might still be argued. But a point that can't be argued, it seems to me: The US backing under Reagan of these Islamic fanatics is what put them on the world stage, super-charged them with confidence to take on the most powerful of the "infidels." And we know where that led, after Al Qaeda etc defeated the "mighty" Soviet Union in Afghanistan.

Conclusion: it was a US victory, but at what cost? Especially after the Dems and Jimmuh Carter more or less dumped the "undemocratic" Shah and turned Iran over to the mad mullahs. And we see every day now where that's going.
