If you've been trying to surf the web today, you may have noticed that a number of big websites, like Wikipedia, have gone dark. Thousands of other websites have followed suit in solidarity against another attempt by government to seize our freedoms. The Stopping Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House and its companion legislation in the Senate, the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA), sound good on paper. Sen. Marco Rubio, a true conservative leader, initially supported the bill but when confronted with its freedom-trampling realities, withdrew his support for it just this morning. These bills are ostensibly supposed to stop online theft of movies and other original content. But both pieces of legislation overreach, right into every website you visit. If this legislation passes, the internet as we know it will be gone, and in its place, a sanitized place monitored and censored by government overlords. It would also give Eric Holder and future attorneys general the power to shut down websites with little, if any, due process. Creativity, innovation and free expression on the web will end. And we'll lose yet another major American freedom.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has moved to effectively kill the bill in the House, but every member of Cognress needs to hear us on this issue. Please contact your member of Congress and/or Senator and tell them that you oppose SOPA and PIPA.

WOULD SANTORUM EXPORT TROLLS TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CASTRO?
Posted by: gringoman | January 18, 2012 at 04:40 PM
It amazes me how 'intelligent' people can so easily fooled by the Newt. But hey, the Government Media Complex does bend reality to serve its own purposes.
Now they have people believing Newt is the "conservative" whilst Romney is the "Massachusetts moderate."
Well, maybe Romney isn't as conservative as we'd like, but Newt makes him look like a fire breathing right-winger by comparison.
Let's take a look at of Newty's liberal record, shall we?
--------
Newt Gingrich: Liberal
Is Newt Gingrich liberal? You better believe it. In fact, he has a long record of standing for just about everything that the Tea Party is supposed to be against. Newt Gingrich has long supported an individual mandate for health care, he supported the Wall Street bailouts, he supported the funding of Planned Parenthood, he did a global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi and he has made tens of millions of dollars lobbying for liberal causes. In addition, he has a personal life which will make him unelectable when put up against Barack Obama in a general election. So what in the world are Republicans thinking? This is not the guy to hitch our wagon to. Are Republicans really going to nominate a guy who co-sponsored 418 bills with Nancy Pelosi? Newt Gingrich is so liberal that someone needs to tell him that he is in the wrong political party. Newt Gingrich is not just a RINO ("Republican In Name Only"). He is a progressive socialist and a consummate Washington insider. He represents everything that the Tea Party is supposed to be fighting to get out of Washington.
If you plan on voting for Newt Gingrich, please read the rest of the information below first.
The following are 10 reasons why Newt Gingrich is liberal....
#1 Newt Gingrich was promoting the principles of Obamacare before Obamacare was even invented. Republicans are supposed to be against Obamacare, and yet a huge percentage of them are supporting a candidate that was pushing an individual mandate way before Obamacare was ever even invented.
In June 2007, Gingrich made the following statement....
“Personal responsibility extends to the purchase of health insurance. Citizens should not be able to cheat their neighbors by not buying insurance, particularly when they can afford it, and expect others to pay for their care when they need it.”
That doesn't sound very conservative.
Gingrich says that he will repeal Obamacare, but back in 2008 Gingrich wrote a book entitled "Real Change" in which he endorsed an individual health care mandate.
So should we believe what Gingrich is saying now or should we believe what he has been saying for nearly 20 years?
#2 Before he was running for president, he was running around the country with Al Sharpton promoting the socialist education policies of the Obama administration.

RICK PERRY TO ENDORSE?
In a prior post, the Gringo Advisory Board suggested the possibility of Perry endorsing Gingrich. Here now the insightful Erick Erickson spells out the rationale behind the gringomanic intuiting.....
ERICKSON/////Barring a miracle, this is Rick Perry’s final act in the 2012 elections. On Saturday, he will come in last in South Carolina. It will be only the third time in a generation Rick Perry has lost an election, with the only other two times being Iowa and New Hampshire this year.
For a generation, Rick Perry was undefeated. Now he will go back to Texas and everyone who ever lost to Rick Perry will seek to settle old scores. It will be a tough, bloody fight. He will have to be ready for it.
Perry, however, has a potential trump card up his sleeve as he rebuilds political capital. It’s simple: he can drop out today, and endorse someone else. Doing so today, before the CNN Debate tomorrow, gives the news time to sink in.
But who to endorse?Mitt Romney makes no sense. To endorse Romney would be to turn Perry’s message throughout the campaign into a joke. It would buy Perry no good will. He would return to Texas a joke.
Rick Santorum makes no sense either. While closer to Perry than Romney on some points, Perry campaigned on reducing the size and scope of Washington, privatizing social security, and fixing entitlements. Endorsing Santorum may leave Perry in good stead with his fellow evangelicals, but it would fly in the face of the limited government principles he outlines both on the campaign trail and in his national bestseller Fed Up!
Then there is the man who wrote the introduction to Fed Up!, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
I’m willing to bet that among activists in Texas, Newt Gingrich is more popular than Romney. His message has been rather consistent to Perry’s, including a man on a mission to gut Washington, D.C. While Gingrich lacks Perry’s limited government bona fides, he is the only other candidate in the race emphasizing that business as usual in Washington is not acceptable if the nation we love is going to survive – as Gingrich wrote in his introduction: “Devolving power out of Washington is critical to our long-term survival.” And that’s the truth.
If Rick Perry stays in the race, conservatives opposed to Mitt Romney will be legitimately able to blame Rick Perry for dragging down either Newt or Santorum. If the person he endorses doesn’t win the nomination, it still doesn’t hurt him as much as staying in to take a few deciding votes.
Huntsman has already done his part to help Romney. Perry’s endorsement today or tomorrow morning could offset that, shifting undecideds and Perry’s own voters to someone else and get them a leg up on Mitt Romney. With Newt Gingrich surging according to the latest Rasmussen poll and Sarah Palin saying she’d support him, Perry’s withdrawal and endorsement before Saturday could ensure a Gingrich win.
Rick Perry’s campaign has come to an end. But he could leave on an unexpected high note — helping conservatives unite around one not-Romney in a way no one else has been able to. Rick Perry could be the catalyst and kingmaker so many have been looking for, even as other conservatives have stood by, unwilling to endorse in the face of long odds.
Rick Perry has come this far motivated by his faith and his principles. He has fought the good fight. He has not forgotten what is due to his own honor and that of his country. But now he has a choice to make, and I wish him wisdom in it.
Either Rick Perry will leave the race Sunday with no political capital and no deposit of goodwill an endorsement would bring, or he will choose to strike one final blow for limited government conservatism.

THE MODERATE VOICE//// The real story here will be less about what his ex-wife says: what can she tell people about Gingrich that people already don’t suspect or think he is capable of? The REAL story is a)how did this story come about b)did she contact ABC out of the blue c)did ABC seek her out d)was she encouraged to come foward by the Romney camp?
5. It has always been suggested that Drudge had strong ties to the Republican establishment, but also during campaign 2008 of ties to the Hillary Clinton camp. No one knows for sure but in the news biz stories start with an enterprising reporter and/or editor or a news source. And if it’s a news source coming forward the question is always “why.” And “why” does he/she come froward at a certain time?
gringoNOTE: What perfect timing for an old, old story to air? Congratulations ABC and Wall Street Willard! This may surpass even Mitt's 5 million dollar Iowa blitz to crash Newt's surging numbers."Vulture" doesn't begin to describe it!

"BTW: Is it true that "Mitt" stands for mitten?" - chief joe
No.
Mitt, his middle name, comes from his father's cousin Milton Romney, who played quarterback for the Chicago Bears some time ago. It was easier to say than "Milt", plus Milton probably preferred it to "Milt" because of "Uncle Miltie", Milton Berle, notoriously popular TV comic and first drag queen comic in the 50's on TV when TV was a big deal. Also Jewish, in the days when country clubs wouldn't let "their kind" in.
Mitt switched in the early 70's when the "Willard" movie came out, ruining the name forever.
Interesting pattern. If a Romney doesn't like something about himself, even as basic as a name, they change the name FIRST, and then make something of themselves LATER, which, IF THEY'D KEPT THEIR ORIGINAL NAME, would have OBLITERATED the trashing of their given names in the first place.
Kind of an adaptive coping strategy that is now proving problematic in Presidential politics.
That's why I've always admired Warrior Princess for sticking with her name when it must have been interminable. And going on to make herself every bit as famous the girl who destroyed her name for a time. And one day she might well be rewarded by becoming so famous and celebrated that people forget a Lewinsky by the same name ever existed.
I hope and believe so.

When is the Christian Science Monitor going to do an examination of what Jesus Christ believed about whether or not life begins at conception, or life begins at birth?
When is the RELIGIOUS ARGUMENT FOR choice going mainstream?
It seems they might be the first denomination to officially GET IT RIGHT after all these decades of the heretical blasphemy that "Life begins at conception".
And the LDS Church might well follow, but carefully and thoughtfully.
Eventually, even Catholicism and the Pope will have to acquiesce to the real truth.
And surprisingly enough to them, find billions of their members worldwide return to the fold. With new members in tow.
And far more numbers increase than they ever lost from abortion in the first place.
Because that's how Satan works. First he makes you afraid, and then he makes you do wrong things based on that fear. And then you institutionalize those wrong things, and because they are wrong, insist on forcing them on everyone else in a totalitarian fashion.
Truth works exactly the opposite. Truth first points out the source of the fear. Then Truth removes all fear. Then truth attacks wrong. Then Truth moves on to the next lies. Either you get it and make it to heaven, or you don't.
JESUS CHRIST invented socialism, but He did not invent communism. Christianity never required the entire world to be Christian to survive.
On the CONTRARY.
