Here's why the GOP presidential race and whom we settle on as the ultimate nominee matters: Politico reports today that the White House has been telling progressives that they're going to "love" Obama's State of the Union address tonight. If we don't defeat Obama in November, America will be gone. And once she's gone, that's it. Game over. For us and the rest of the world.
Last night's GOP debate put the two-man, four-man race into bold relief. Rick Santorum had some great moments and looks like a mature, responsible adult with real, conservative solutions to our grave problems. Ron Paul had his fine moments too, particularly when he schooled the others and the audience about an out-of-control federal government, spending, the debt, inflation and the Fed. But right now, they are in the second tier---a close second tier, but second tier nonetheless. Paul is staying in until the bitter end, although even he admits he's not going to win the nomination. He's aiming to have an impact on the convention and the party platform. Santorum is moving forward on the glow of his Iowa win and still has some traction, but he's going to have to really outperform in Florida's primary next week to continue.
That leaves the top tier, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. Newt is coming off his smashing victory in South Carolina, and Mitt is coming out swinging. Both of them got locked into a rather petty death match over tax returns, resigning in disgrace, and Fannie and Freddie consulting. On the one hand, I suppose it's good to have them get it all out of their systems now, get all the hits on the table, and start to innoculate the voting public to the negative stuff. On the other hand, they looked like two flies stuck in a bottle, hitting the sides and each other as they fail to realize the top of the bottle is open and they could fly out at any time.
Here's my advice to both of them: Quit the attacks on each other. Redirect them toward Barack Obama and his disastrous policies. Launch a charm offensive---toward each other and toward the voters. Be gracious. Be aggressive but positive. Keep your eyes on the Big Prize: defeating Obama.
I know, I know---going negative works. But both Mitt and Newt must remember that voters aren't just judging policies, ideology and intellect. They're judging temperament. Show a steadiness and a warm graciousness. Be passionate about America and how to fix her deep problems. Direct your fire toward the incumbent who is ruining her. We don't want an embittered, pissed-off candidate. We want an exuberant standard bearer---particularly since we can't rely on solid conservatism from either Mitt or Newt.
So, guys: fly out of the bottle and elevate the debate, the race and your own candidacies. Only one can win the nomination, but nobody in this race will regret taking that path.

Gringoman is belaboring under the delusion that if you speak a lie about someone long enough, it will come to be believed.
Monica, in all her broadcasts, CLEARLY WELCOMES ALL TO HER BLOG.
We, like Rafe and several others, are WELCOME GUESTS here expressing our valuable (to Monica) opinions about a variety of subjects, not trolls.
It is Gringoman's and conservaBorg's way of doing business; diminishing someone by simple namecalling, over and over and over again.
I quit doing it a long time ago; for some other immature people, it never happens.
The good news is, lying about someone never works.
And the more the lie is repeated, the more attention it brings to itself, and the more desperate it makes the liar look.
The end result is everyone realizes it is a lie, and nothing more.

Even if we do, she'll be hanging by a thread. The Goopers are mainly in it for the money while the RATS changed the game plan from bi-partisan fleecing of America to the Destruction of America.
WE NEED THE BAMA GONE AND THEN START A THIRD PARTY !!!!

While Obama did not increase the debt by 30%. That presidentialdebt link shows that Bush DOUBLED IT!
In Reagan's time, he tripled it!

LOL Now IQ BOY claims that Bush tripled the debt in Reagan's time.
I hardly believe that W Bush had a role in the Reagan Administration.

Gringoman, I am still surprised by your ardent support for Newt Gingrich, whose RECORD is spotty at best.
I am coming to think he's still better than Mittens though.
At least the man has a pulse.
Unfortunately these are the choices we are stuck with.
Gotta play the hand you're dealt.
The fat neut is feisty as h3ll and it would be fun to see him take it to the won.
The won has never faced real opposition in his life as he's been coasting on greased skids until now.
He'll lose his composure if someone dares tackle him and he's fumble the football, ie. America if he is hit hard enough.
Unfortunately Mittens isn't man enough for the job.
Problem is that once the fat neut is in the White House we will all need to keep our eyes on him..

Men's health just ran an article on GM foods advertised falsely as "natural". The assumption is made, that these are safe, although no independent testing has been performed.

Thank you, Men's Health, for keeping this issue alive.
Obama said he was interested in discussing possible tax deals with people/companies who want to onshore foreign-made profits, that would use the money to create businesses that employ US workers. There may be people who would like such a deal.
Obama said he would sign legislation ending insider trading in Washington. This could be good for the sake of national security, not to mention its social unfairness. Would Cantor forward a bill?
Nancy Pelosi has something on Newt Gingrich. Was his wife invited to a private VISA IPO meeting?

I thought it was understood around here that the GOP elite do not want Gingrich. I see I was wrong. Apparently there's the belief that they're for either Romney or Gingrich. I have no idea why they think that, since there's plenty indicating otherwise. I never even bothered to post any of it. So here's a recent....
HOT AIR////The other half of this theory is just as important, though: Just because “party elites” aren’t so keen on Romney doesn’t mean they aren’t still opposed to Gingrich. Indeed, AndreaMitchell’s quote — if it is, in fact, an accurate reflection of the comments of a Romney adviser with insider information — suggests party leaders are most concerned to stop Gingrich\

That sort of "tax holiday" is done every now and then which is why companies wait and amass their off-shore profits, confident in their knowledge that they'll get to enter these profits off the books FREE of taxes UNLIKE the off-shore accounts of individuals like Holocaust survivors, who are being harassed by the IRS for money.
Sounds like another sham to me.. another $timulu$ via the backdoor if you will..

That one's a laugh. Isn't giving corporations the opportunity to onshore their foreign holdings while going after private individuals the very definition of insider trading?
Corporations want to enjoy all the same benefits enjoyed by living persons and THEN SOME.
Can you say: ONSHORING CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS?

Their is no "crisis" in black "education", only unrealistic expectations.
Dumbazz Dabya's pronouncement: "Soft bigotry of low expectations" wrt black academic failure only serves as a cover-up for the harsh reality of the situation. Dubya was/is such a deluded libtard ... just like nearly ALL of the pusillanimous pols are.
Here is something for the clueless. Read it and weep!

Jonathan Easley / The Hill:
Gingrich won't ‘allow’ moderators to silence crowd at future debates — Newt Gingrich says he won't “allow” the moderators of future GOP presidential debates to keep the crowd out of it. — Speaking on Tuesday to Fox News, Gingrich took the opportunity that was denied him at Monday night's debate, and blasted the media. ( --Gringoman)

Yup, without the crowd Newt loses the debates. In a real debate, Romney dissects the Newt like a skilled surgeon ... as he did in the last debate.
So much for the much touted Newty's debating skills.
Heh!

Yes, UG, Santorum merits the lable jihadist because he would impose his particular "morality" by force. At the bottom line there are only two positions on government. The libertarian sees man as born endowed with rights including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Government is a necessary utility to secure those rights. The totalitarian sees man as born evil and needing to be controlled by a totalitarian government because any allowance of liberty will allow him to make immoral choices.
The devil is in the details as to how much property government should be allowed to take to secure man's rights. It is unfortunate that some who call themselves libertarian take the view of Social Darwinism of survival of the fittest and fail to consider it is government's responsibility to keep the less fit alive. Others go overboard and would have government providing a supposedly comfortable life through handouts. Actually if you follow the money there, that system is to benefit those who profit from the spending of those handouts not the recipients. Not included in government's role is the imposing of morality beyond what arises naturally from work.

I am voting for Romney but I am glad Newt Gingrich exposed him for his investment in Goldman Sachs You are kidding yourself if you think that Goldman Sachs was not the "inventors" of derivatives. I agree with Gingrich. I hold them responsible for the collapse of the housing market.

Obama fears a Romney/Rubio ticket or Romney/Martinez (NM gov) ticket. Romney isn't perfect, but he is pro business, pro values and the catholics that usually vote democrat should really think about their "values" since kathleen Sebelius/Obama are going to force the catholic church/institutions etc to give out abortion drugs in 2013, he's not enacting it now cause it would be poiitical suicide.
