I know that the U.S. economy is the number one issue for most Americans. Despite a few weeks of a positive downward trend in first-time unemployment claims, the jobs situation remains bleak. The labor participation rate is incredibly low, meaning that the labor force itself is shrinking. If the same number of people were working or looking for work today that were working or looking for work when Obama entered office, the unemployment rate would be 11%. Further, a lot of the jobs currently being created are in retail and are seasonal. Once the holidays are over, so are those jobs.
While we're all understandably focused on the economy and the presidential race here at home, the world outside our door rumbles. Much of the Middle East is falling to the Islamists. The Russian bear is back (not that he ever went away). The Chinese are preparing to slap tariffs on U.S. car imports, sparking what could be a major trade war. Much of Europe remains perilously close to a sovereign debt-driven implosion, which would consume us and the rest of the world.
So as we watch the Republican presidential candidates tonight in their last major debate before the real primary voting begins, let's keep in mind that we're not just voting for someone to return the nation to free market principles and pro-growth policies. We're also electing a commander-in-chief.
Who will be the toughest adversary for our enemies and our allies' best friend? Who will seek to best protect and defend American interests abroad? Who will also seek to advance those interests? Who will tell the hard truths about the way the real world works and be best prepared to deal with it?
And remember: the strength of the economy IS a national security issue. The two go hand in hand. When our economy is crippled, it severely impairs our ability to project power and defend ourselves and our interests.
And when the U.S. falls apart, so does the rest of the world. The GOP candidates all know this. Who among them is best suited to put not just America back on track, but with it, re-establish American global leadership?

"Who will be the toughest adversary for our enemies and our allies' best friend? Who will seek to best protect and defend American interests abroad? Who will also seek to advance those interests? Who will tell the hard truths about the way the real world works and be best prepared to deal with it?"

On the subject of the Russian bear, Putin called McCain nuts. LOL!
There's that irony again. I find myself rooting on the side of an ex KGB dude over RINO McCain.
---
The Russian prime minister called the former presidential candidate “nuts” in response to Twitter comment about Russia’s parliamentary elections that drew allegations of fraud and triggered large protests.
Mr McCain’s tweet read: "Dear Vlad, The Arab Spring is coming to a neighbourhood near you."
Mr Putin turned stony faced when asked about the tweet on his annual televised phone-in.
"Mr McCain fought in Vietnam. I think that he has enough blood of peaceful citizens on his hands. It must be impossible for him to live without these disgusting scenes anymore.
"Mr McCain was captured and they kept him not just in prison, but in a pit for several years," he said. "Anyone [in his place] would go nuts."

I think the reason that the polls are so erratic is that Americans do not want to settle for who the establishment thinks is best. We wanted an outsider and now we have to choose from who is the least insider. We wanted a non-politician. Herman Cain was the only real outsider. He had a common sense economic plan that everyone understood and most thought would work. Though some pooh poohed his lack of political experience, many, including me, saw that as a definite plus. We knew he was a leader who could make the serious decisions that the Presidency required. Mr. Cain's impressive executive and problem solving skills would have been all he needed to be President. In the end, most American's think it is none of our business who Mr. Cain has sex with. Many of the world's greatest leaders were womanizers and except for Bill Clinton, they did not have to have a public display of remorse and apology to lead successfully. This kind of character assassination just hurts family members and it should not be allowed. I did not like it when Clinton was smeared, either. They smeared Mr. Clinton because they did not have the evidence to criminally charge him on. They smeared Mr. Cain because he was an outsider who the
GOP establishment would not defend and they targetted Mr. Cain because he would defeat President Obama on policy failures and ideological differences. Class Warfare and race baiting would not be a part of the election. Mr. Cain is on the ballot in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida, where I will be voting for him. The primary is where regular Americans can vote for who they think would do the better job. The election will be where we vote against President Obama's corruptive policies.

There are still hurdles that GOP Central and Obamasuck Media must overcome before anointing Mitt Romney. These include, to cite a few examples,
--Trump leaning to (not yet endorsing)Gingrich
--Lib icon Ed Koch warning that Dems face more danger from Gingrich than Romney
--Romney never gaining poll numbers as high as the "disliked" Gingrich already has
--Rudy Giuliani.....
GIULIANI SLAMS ROMNEY, HAILS GINGRICH
“I kind of go back to 1980 and I remember the Carter White House just dying [to run against] Ronald Reagan,” Giuliani said. “Ronald Reagan was the dumb actor, Ronald Reagan said incendiary things, Ronald Reagan was like Newt — gosh, you never knew what he was going to say and the whole world would go crazy — The New York Times would write editorials. There was Bush, greatest resume of anyone who ever ran for president, solid citizen. They got Reagan and they got trounced.”
Giuliani said that although Gingrich has a long record in Washington that sometimes conflicts with conservative principles, so too did Reagan.
“I think Newt has a much more consistent position as a conservative, with some real exceptions like Ronald Reagan had,” Giuliani said, comparing Gingrich to Romney. “Ronald Reagan signed a bill that made abortion legal in the state of California. Ronald Reagan did in fact raise taxes several times, not just as president, but also as governor of California.”

As for the pre-planned anointing of Mitt Romneycare: Is Club Gooper getting nervous? Is the amazing rise of unpredictable outisider-insider Newt Gingrich upsetting even Libworld? Is Karl Rove working his rolodex? If not panic, are they not dashing to contingency plans? Are they reaching out, past troubled Romney waters? How far would they go? You don't know?....
gringINTEL (Open Source) So a writer I follow who lives in New Hampshire just tweeted:
@publicroad: I live in NH & just got a robocall polling me about what I think about Romney vs. Gingrich vs. *Jeb Bush*.
Other folks are reporting the same polling is taking place in New Hampshire.
gringoNOTE: Confirming a previous gringomanic post: If RINO Central (and by extension Obamasuck Media) can't make the Romney sale, it will NOT go Newt. Newt knows their feeding troughs all too well, as he himself has supped at them. He can't be counted on to let them go on gorging like it's done in DC by Democrats and Republicans. He might, but then again, everybody knows what a sombitch he can be....And so, would they, increasingly nervous, seeing Mitt Flip=Flop as no longer the next-in-line--would they reach out elsewhere----even Bushwards et al?....Oh, Jebbie! Maybe you don't have to wait till 2016, after Obama's second term? Maybe you can't. Maybe that bad guy Newt won't go away, after all, and then what? What do we do if we and Obamasuck can't bring him down soon?

Another hurdle that Club Gooper and the OSM (Obamasuck Media) will have to overcome on the Road to Obamaneycare.
HERMAN CAIN. Cain, sometime before the Iowa Primary, is likely to endorse Newt Gingrich (assuming that Willard's team hasn't gotten to him.)

The policies and regulations that hold us hostage and force us and our kids into slavery to the professional babymakers requires the bold actions of one who knows the innerworkings of that den of thieves. Knows how to navigate through the corrupt power brokers and to get things done. Giuliani Brings His Knife to Morning Shows to Carve Up Romney
....Perhaps, most damagingly, Giuliani said that Romney’s flip-flopping would make him easy pickings for President Obama.
“Pro-choice/pro-life. Pro-choice because somebody, a close friend, died and he became pro-choice because this woman died from an abortion. Then he figures out there are embryos and changes,” Giuliani told MSNBC. “He was pro-gun control. Fine. Then he becomes a lifetime member of the NRA. He was pro-cap and trade. Now he’s against cap and trade. He was pro-mandate for the whole country, then he becomes anti-mandate and takes that page out of his book, and republishes the book. And I can go on and on. ..Now what will Barack Obama do to that? What Barack Obama will do to that is: ‘This is a man without a core, this is a man without substance, this is a man that will say anything to become president of the United States.’ I think that is a great vulnerability.”

To answer the question: What Republican will create manufacturing jobs?
Rick Sanatorium stands out on that issue.
Here is a brief overview of his plan to restore the manufacturing sector:
•
Cutting the corporate tax rate for domestic manufacturers from 35% to 0%;
•
Repatriating foreign income at a 5% tax rate rather than the current 35% to bring those revenues home to be investing in America;
•
Increasing the R&D Tax Credit from 14% to 20% and making it permanent;
•
Reducing the regulatory burden currently stifling American innovation, including complete repeals of ObamaCare, Sarbanes-Oxley, and Dodd-Frank; and,
•
Expanding domestic energy exploration to lower energy costs for manufacturers and create good paying manufacturing jobs.

NOTE: Can it be? Neut's Icarus-like wax wings are melting already, as he soared too close to the sun too fast? Rasmussen makes it sound that way. Maybe Romney is a shoo-in after all? Karl Rove won't have to whip out his Rolodex for an acceptable anybody-but Neut? They can save Jeb Bush for 2016, after Obama's billion-dollar Marxist Class War cliche ads destroy the "Capitalist," i.e. Romney, who even looks like the guy who laid you off? But wait! Not so fast, Club Gooper! There's this. Rasmussen has Romney now topping Newt in Iowa. However, the The Obamasuck Media might not headline the following.....
Did you guys see this:
“Newsmax/InsiderAdvantage Poll: Romney in Free Fall”
According to THIS poll, exactly the opposite of what Rasmussen says is happening is happening. While Rasmussen has Romney surging to the lead with 23, Newsmax has him in complete collapse to 12.
So what do you believe?
Well, Newsmax is confirmed by 5 other polls while the Rasmussen poll is confirmed by, well, no one.
THE TAKE-AWAY:
Can we please stop hyper-ventillating about every new poll that comes out? They are clearly all over the map and meaningless.

ROMNEY: OUR RINO HERITAGE
gringINTEL (Open Source)I’m not merely anti-Romney. I believe that the obliteration of Mitt Romney and every vestige of his meaning and style is essential to the survival of the Republican Party. It is an existential imperative.
Ronald Reagan’s indifference to his structural legacy was tragic. He was ignorant and/or inattentive on two conjoined political fronts – political corruption and RINOism. He not only did not purge and re-create the Republican infrastructure in his image when he had the chance, but was blind to the corrosive tenacity of RINOism. Choosing George Bush as vice president may have made political sense at the time (arguable), but it guaranteed the swift end of “Reaganism” as anything but a subject for rousing speeches and sweet nostalgia.

ROMNEY 'SURGE' IN IOWA?
gringINTEL (Open Source) I mean, state polling (and especially caucus state polling) is notoriously unreliable. However I have never seen polls this far all over the map.
I mean in one poll Newt leads Romney by 15 and in another taken at the same time he trails Romney by 3? Really, an 18 point swing?
Couple BIG reasons I have a hard time believing Romney is surging in Iowa and Rasmussen claims:
1) Iowa is very evangelical and evangelicals don’t dig the whole Morman bit.
2) Romney has pretty much ignored Iowa until recently.
3) Romney is going negative BIG TIME and they HATE that in Iowa.
Add to the fact that no other poll has confirmed the Ramsussen Poll and I have to declare it an outlier.

So, thanks to the GOP, you could be denied the ability to adopt children if you are a jew.

On the debate: Santorum did in fact say the very things DJ alluded to in his post earlier about bringing back manufacturing jobs. He does not seem to get much respect.
Ron Paul isn't going anywhere. Most people (even libs) see Iran as a threat and he doesn't. He does not seem to understand the big picture here.
Perry did not embarass himself and probably kept himslef alive. Bachmann strikes me as hostile; a steel spine maybe, but too ready to kick somebody.
Huntsman would be a good Sec of State. Gingrich got the most and loudest applause, if that means anything. Romney was portrayed by Wallace as anti-gun; a fatal flaw for a GOP candidate.

Note: The more we learn about Newt and Romney's progressive records -- especially Newt's -- the better Bachmann, Rick Perry and the others look.
From VFR:
---
Daniel S. writes:
Mark Steyn today challenges the conventional wisdom in Republican circles that it is a choice between Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney. He writes in defense of support for Perry and more importantly Michele Bachmann, who he all but endorses:
"I would like, politely, to dissent from my colleagues’ dismissal of Perry and Bachmann.
In the former case, a handful of poor debate performances should not disqualify a man from executive responsibility: Our age’s veneration for men with “nothing to do but think and talk” (in Churchill’s words, on the sort of chaps he didn’t want in his war cabinet) is one reason why the Western world is sliding off a cliff.
In the latter case, Congresswoman Bachmann has fought a principled, conservative campaign with only one significant misstep—her overreach on the Gardasil business. Again, that shouldn’t be a disqualification. Nor should having more chiefs of staff than she has foster children (I speak as a guy who believes citizen-legislators shouldn’t have chiefs of staff, anyway). To be sexist about it, President Bachmann at her best would be another Thatcher and at her worst another Merkel—and Chancellor Merkel currently presides over the least worst Western economy. What’s not to like? Go, Michele!"
