ABSOLUTELY FENG SHUI........The ancient Chinese subscribe to a concept called Yin Yang which is a belief that there exist two complementary forces in the universe. One is Yang which represents everything positive or masculine and the other is Yin which is characterized as negative or feminine. One is not better than the other. Instead they are both necessary and a balance of both is highly desirable.

gringoNOTE: Princess, when will Americanos grow up? When will they get that for every Havel there's a Kim, or for every Kim a Havel? Do you have to be Chinese to see that for every Yin there's a Yang?

Welcome to the blog. We're undergoing a bit of detente now, having realized that everyone is entitled to their own political opinions; even wrong ones.

And when you remove namecalling and insults from the back and forth, it doesn't leave much back and forth left.

If you say something others will disagree with, they'll post an opposing opinion soon enough. But I think the peace here is a lasting one. And something to be proud of.

Unlike the real world.

Ummah,

I never proposed Newt Gingrich as a model of Christian husbandly behavior. I wouldn't for most pols in Washington of either persuasion. I'm not even sure how much this matters anymore, after the Clinton Bubbanizing and debasing of US political culture. But if that's your criterion, you probably can't find any better than Mitt Romney, a Mormon paterfamilias non pareil. Call it a special version of Romneycare, from his home to Big Government. You won't be mandated to care, just to share and pay up for those who won't pay up. Who cares if the socialist trick is collapsing all over Europe right now? Aren't Americanos exceptional?

As for the stereotype of Newt Gingrich as some kind of Beltway Beelzebub, there's this......

The Gingrich Divorce Myth
Posted on December 2, 2011

Q: Did Newt Gingrich ask his former wife to sign divorce papers on her deathbed?

A: No. Jackie Battley is still alive, and the couple had agreed months before the 1980 hospital visit to seek divorce. But she was recovering from surgery to remove a tumor, and the former House speaker admits that they “got into an argument.”

FULL QUESTION

Did Newt Gingrich ask his former wife to sign divorce papers on her deathbed?

FULL ANSWER

For almost three decades, Newt Gingrich has been dogged by a story that he served his first wife divorce papers while she lay in a hospital bed battling — or in some versions dying from — cancer. It didn’t happen that way.

In fact, Gingrich, the presidential candidate and former House speaker, and his first wife, Jackie Battley, had already separated and were planning to divorce before she was hospitalized. And while Battley had earlier undergone cancer surgery, this time she was in the hospital recovering from surgery to remove a tumor that — according to one of the couple’s daughters — was benign. Battley isn’t talking to reporters, but she’s still very much alive.

BANKERS AND BIG GOVERNMENT

Now which will Monica see as yin and which as yang?

GERALD CELENTE PREDICTS FOR 2012

“As the bankers take over, and we’re seeing what’s going on, they are throwing out democratically elected governments, we are forecasting there is going to be a severe decline in 2012, particularly in Europe. They are going to blame the problems in Europe as a reason for the problems going on over here (in the US). And we have our own (problems) that are as big as Europe’s, even bigger and better.

So that brings us to the next trend, get ready for economic martial law. They are going to call a bank holiday. So what we are saying is conditions have become a lot worse. And a bank holiday is no holiday folks.

You can’t get your money out and when you do get it out, you will get it out a little bit at a time. It’s going to be worth a lot less. That’s what they do with bank holidays, they devalue your money. So they are going to do it again.”

The left wants to cut military spending. As for infrastructure and schools, just love the way the government is managing those. They keep throwing money at schools and Johnny still can't read and graduate. As for the infrastructure, money is always being taken away from taxpayers pockets in various taxes, including gas taxes but the state seems to squander it and, like social security, never use the money for what it was intended for.

DJ

DJ,

Gingrich only a debater and professor? If thats's the case, he must be the first professor in history who did what even his opponents concede: brainstormed and LED a revolution in the Contract With America Congress. Of course, like any leader, he made his share of of enemies in the process, including in the GOP Establishment. Hmmmmm! DJ, I used to think that a foe or loose cannon of Club Gooper was your friend, and a hand-picked "next in line" like Willard was your enemy. Where did I misconstrue you?

Posted by: gringoman | December 19, 2011 at 05:57 PM

-----

Gringoman,

Let's back up a bit here.

My first choice is Michele Bachmann. That has not changed.

Now lets get back to Willard and Newt.

Our little discussion here is predicated on the assumption that the contest has evolved into a two man race -- Willard vs Newt.

So let's assume that is correct and we have to chose one or the other.

For me the choice is an easy one. Romney is clearly the better man for the job.

Newt's record is littered with the same flip flops as Romney's is. So the cancel each other out on that account.

Newt and Romney are intellectually equal. So they cancel each other out in that area too. (Personally I think Romney is smarter and more disciplined - as such he is able to make more sound and well grounded decisions.)

Back to Newt's record, UG and I have posted a ton of stuff about Newt's dubious character and his asile crossing record over the last month or so. Maybe Gringoman didn't read any of it? ... or chooses to ignore it for convenience sake?

In any event, Newt is the ultimate insider. He IS part of the Gooper establishment. He even described himself as a Rockefeller Republican.

Lastly, if Newt is the nominee, I will vote third party just as I did in 2008. Knowing what I know about Newt, no way could I stomach voting for him. My conscious wouldn't allow it.

If Romney is the nominee, then I'll hold my nose and begrudgingly cast my vote for him. But I'm still holding out hopes Bachmann or Santorum or even Perry wins the nomination.

Black guest columnist speaks the truth about the black thug culture

Renee Barrett, a black woman in New York, says some things about black violence and the black culture that the liberal media never say. She points to the imperative need for stop-and-frisk laws, and she says she cannot blame the police officers who in a Facebook discussion referred to the "savages" and "animals" at the West Indian Day parade. And later in the piece she uses the word "animals" herself.
The title I have copied below is the one appearing in the print version of Barrett's guest column in yesterday's New York Daily News. It is more direct than the online title.

--

Blame the Perps, not police 'racism'
BE OUR GUEST
BY RENEE BARRETT
As a New Yorker, I am heartbroken by the death of Police Officer Peter Figoski, and as a black woman, I am outraged by the hypocrisy of elected officials like City Councilman Jumaane Williams, Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and others who consistently critique the NYPD and oppose its stop-and-frisk policies.

Have Williams, Jeffries and everyone else expressed their grief in the wake of the Figoski killing? Yes. But that doesn't change the fact that these politicians and their allies never miss a chance to attack cops for their supposedly discriminatory targeting of black youth. Meanwhile, every day I read the paper and the faces of those being arrested, arraigned, tried and sentenced--for crimes they have committed--are black.

I'm not sad for these people. Not anymore. Now, I am angry. As I go about my daily business, as I commute from my home in the Bronx to downtown Brooklyn and back, I witness a generation that celebrates criminality. Young boys and girls walk around with their pants sagging around their ankles and rags on their heads, some of them even attending school this way. They recite obnoxious, offensive and violent rap lyrics. They write (misspelled) graffiti on walls promoting their gangs.

They do not communicate in proper English, this after having supposedly attending and passing English classes. These kids are constantly challenging authority and one another with no respect for themselves or anyone else.

I suppose I'm sensitive to this because, knowing a little bit about the history of black folks in this country, it breaks my heart that these kids don't seem to want better for themselves. I also see these things as part of what contributed to Figoski's killing, because I believe that Lamont Pride started out as one of these kids.

Pride may not have grown up on the streets of Brooklyn or the Bronx, but he clearly was part of the culture of violence and hopelessness that I see all the time.

The NYPD has recently come under scrutiny because of a few officers' Facebook rants about "savages" and "animals" at the West Indian Day parade. Of course, it's appalling to hear such things said, but I can't blame the police for their frustration. I looked forward to those parades as a child, but I would never attend now due to the apparent inevitability of violence. What was once a joyful celebration of West Indian culture and pride is now just an excuse to act belligerently.

This brings us to the need for stop-and-frisk.

If Pride had, on the streets of Brooklyn, been stopped and frisked, cops probably would have noticed his warrants. They might have caught him carrying a gun. And another senseless death could have been prevented.

Why don't Williams, Jeffries and other critics of the NYPD reach out to the communities they represent and--in voices every bit as loud as those they so often use to decry the cops' supposedly racist behavior--urge them to cooperate with the police?

Too many of us are fighting the wrong battles. Yes, racism is inevitable, just like poverty and crime. But this is not the 1960s. We aren't living under Jim Crow segregation. There are opportunities for those that want them.

Young black and Hispanic men and women have every reason to value themselves. We are lawyers, doctors, educators. The problem is that we are immersed in a culture that has given up on education, morals and manners. We are fighting against a culture that glorifies and promotes violence and drugs and has no regard for authority.

Take a look at what types of crimes are being committed and where. It's time to place the blame where it belongs. The animals should be held accountable for their actions--and preferably isolated in cages where they pose a risk only to themselves.

"My conscious [sic] wouldn't allow it." - DJ

Thrilled that your conscience can allow you handing the White House back to Obama by throwing away your vote on a third candidate spoiler.

But no fears. Romney is it. Just a matter of either Christie or Jeb for Veep.

Christie might really have something in his past to hide EVER becoming Pres, and the weight might just be a convenient decoy.

Someone is looking at Jeb Bush. For some position. HARD.

There's also scuttlebutt about Rice being Newt's veep, but that would just seal his complete obliteration in the general.

Another thing to remember folks. Jebbie AUTHENTICALLY brings back Hispanic conservatives into the fold.

Without a bit of Tea Party pandering. Not a shred.

Which will force Obama even more to pick Hillary as veep to win.

xbjllb

So I'm saying as of right now it looks like:

ROMNEY-JEB 2012

losing by a hair (factoring in GOP voter suppression) to

OBAMA-HILLARY 2012

ROMNEY-CHRISTIE 2012

would lose by 4-8 points to

OBAMA-HILLARY 2012

And Romney stands a decent chance of winning by a hair if Obama runs with Biden.

That's what the GOP establishment knows. Romney is the only chance for the GOP given the REAL mood of the 99% of the country, not the tarted up Fox News insular Tea Party Bizzaro world.

Even Fox will be propping up Romney and throwing all tea partiers under the bus.

But if Hillary runs with Obama, game changer; NO GOP CANDIDATE COULD OR WILL WIN. No matter HOW DEEPLY the GOP Congress trashes the economy.

Indeed; PRECISELY BECAUSE OF HOW DEEPLY THE GOP CONGRESS TRASHED THE ECONOMY.

DJ

"Thrilled that your conscience can allow you handing the White House back to Obama by throwing away your vote on a third candidate spoiler." ( --X-Lax)

-----------

If Newt is the nominee, Obama is a shoo-in. Newt is unelectable, so it wouldn't matter if I "throw my vote away".

If Romney is the nominee, I approximate he has a 50/50 chance of winning.

There it is, folks.

xbjllb

Oh. And If Paul runs independent?

Throw everything above out. Obama could run without a running mate and win by landslide.

That would probably keep Hillary out as veep. UNLESS the Justice party third party challenge on the left happens.

And it probably will, given that Romney is the candidate. The Justice Party is an attempt at dividing up the left vote to hand it to Romney.

All they'll end up doing is balance the Paul independent vote on the right. Barely.

That will force Hillary as veep, and once again, Obama wins.

Right now Obama is winning every scenario except the following:

ROMNEY-CHRISTIE OR ROMNEY-JEB

wins by a GOP voter-obstructed hair against

OBAMA-BIDEN

xbjllb

"If Romney is the nominee, I approximate he has a 50/50 chance of winning." - DJ

I agree. Against Obama-Hillary, he loses.

Against Obama-Biden, he wins.

If the third party challenge from Paul on one side and the Justice Party on the other balance each other out. Actually, Paul will pull far more conservative votes.

One thing is for certain; it will be astounding if Hillary is not on the ticket and will be the biggest tactical blunder ever made in the history of politics.

DJ,

Thanks for clarifying. It's now clear. In effect, on the topic of Romney vs. Gingrich, it's you, Ummah, Karl Rove and the GOP Establishment versus me, Rudy Giuliani and Erick Erickson. If you all get your wish (assuming that Bachmann won't be the nominee, a case where 'assumption' equals certainty) it will be Romney's Wall Street money vs Obama's Wall Street billion. Got it. And the odds do favor Romney for GOP nomination, as his ability to vastly out-spend others means that the ads to keep the negative stereotypes on Gingrich running will sway, just as they've already brought Plastic Man back to life in Iowa, deflating the Gingrich surge, much to Karl Rove's delight and relief.)

ps Versus Obama, I will vote for any of the GOP candidates, exactly like I did in 2008

ERICK ERICKSON Posted by Erick Erickson (Diary)

I will not be endorsing any time soon. I have made clear my reasons here.

I am, however, continually surprised that anyone in the GOP thinks Mitt Romney is a really viable candidate. Should he be the nominee, the American public will be treated to interviews and commercials with every person ever fired or laid off because of Bain Capital, an organization from which MItt Romney still draws money.

The Romney camp response is, in effect, “Sure, but look at all the people laid off because of Barack Obama.”

Okay. Sure. In other words, in a race about job creation, we’ll have a fight over who caused the fewest people to lose their jobs.

That’s a real winner of an argument to have.

How pandering to Special Interests is killing the US

People are losing teeth and unable to support their children because of this Washington habit, but it is also an American habit of pandering to the noblesse, without the oblige.

As an example, take a wealthy family whose listless daughter works at IHOP, who becomes the head of a library system, complete with a degree thrown in , because her parents want it for her. A few pieces of paper get thrown around and presto, chango, everything is different. It is possible for this sort of thing to get out of hand- with highly talented people tossed aside and the IHOP girl getting the stamp of approval.

A more familiar example might be Chelsea Clinton, who did not even bother to obtain the degree. What NBC gets is access and intangibles through GE and the Democratic Party, and we the public get a mouthpiece for their agenda- rather than the actual news of the nation - children without support, parents without jobs… etc. What we inherit is a broken down economic plan in the guise of a new "journalist", and a false sense of normalcy.

The same is happening in Science, where a privileged few get access to information, and they report on items as they see fit, paid for by the taxpayer, and no one else can comment because they do not have access. A process like this happens because someone in Washington panders to a special interest and it gets set up. For example, a favored son likes to hunt, so he is set up at a university as an environmentalist, for the sake of ensuring his family gets first dibs on any public offerings of resources. This happens frequently. What does this do to bio-science, where "independent researchers" present results to the public making claims about the efficacy of drugs? Clearly, their messages are corrupted by special interests as junior researchers find out when confronted with a stark contrast between what one person says and their results.

What we need do, is to let people know what is being rigged up. Too often these secrets are kept to preserve this social ordering, with the pandering few selling out everyone else. The worm gets the apple. With any broken down process, it pays to examine the special interest rigging.

Pandering to Special interests -WASHINGTON, YOU are just KILLING ME..

DJ

"Obama's already won. As long as he runs with Hillary."

_-------

He dosen't necessarily need Hillary. He can easily win with Biden.

Check it out:

From WaPo today: "Obama’s job-approval rating is now at its highest since March, excluding a temporary bump after the killing of Osama bin Laden: Forty-nine percent approve, and 47 percent disapprove."

Now, out of those 47 percent that disapprove, how many, if given the choice between Obama and Newt, will vote for Barry?

I say at least 6 percent. That means he will EASILY win reelection.

Demz iz da facts!
