Two Scorpions In A Bottle

One of the most revealing stories of the week comes to us courtesy of the gossip page, Page Six, in today's New York Post. They report:

"Don't have your people call my people. That's the message President Obama's inner circle sent Bill Clinton's camp after the ex-president's posse tried to give advice on how to win re-election. The pols' aides didn't see eye-to-eye when Obama's chief of staff Bill Daley, who was Clinton's secretary of commerce, called in former Clinton advisers including Steve Ricchetti, Doug Sosnik, Joel Johnson and Joe Lockhart for a powwow with White House aides. "It was like water and oil," a source said. "They didn't seem to appreciate the advice." There was also "Obama-bashing" at a Clinton reunion in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 3. Obama rep Dan Pfeiffer said, "It was a broader meeting with folks whose advice, guidance and experience we value. Many there were longtime friends and colleagues of people in the Obama White House and that description of the meeting couldn't be further from the truth." Clinton's rep declined to comment."

Well, well. What do we have here? A new flare-up of the Bill Clinton-Barack Obama rivalry? Of course, the two hate each other's guts. In 2008, Bill sought a third term by running his wife for president, since he was term-limited out. And Mrs. Ambition happily went along. But they got crushed by Obama, who, to add insult to injury, ripped off Bubba's whole act from 1992. Hope and change? Bubba's. "The man from Hope?" "We're gonna bring change?" The generational shift? Bubba, Bubba, and Bubba. And of course what infuriated Bill most of all was that Barack did Bill better than Bill did.

So the hatred has been bubbling under the surface for years, and while Obama is pretty busy, Bubba is sorta not busy, so he's got more time to plot and undermine. Over the past few weeks, he's lobbed some doozies at Obama, including saying point-blank that taxes should not be raised when the economy is this bad. Of course, Bubba does it with that Clintonian smile and twinkle in his eye that tells you he's being evil but dares you to take him on. And of course, no one ever does.

Bubba is clearly up to something: bringing his people in to tutor Obama's people how to win re-election, slamming Obama's economic policies, declining to comment about any of it. What's he doing? Positioning Hillary for a primary run? For Vice President? Just taking some fun hits at the guy he loathes?

I'm not sure. But one thing's for sure: while the Bama has become a yawn-fest, Bubba was never---and is never---dull.

To make its case, the New York Times asked readers to imagine having put their money where its mouth is. Contrary to Republican mythology, Americans fare better - much, much better - under Democratic administrations:

Herman Cain has done something we all owe him a debt of gratitude for doing. He has singlehandedly revived a stereotype many people thought had been forgotten — the humorless liberal.

I was on CNN last night with a guy from New York who was just downright angry about Herman Cain’s statement. “There’s nothing funny” about the issue he said. Well, actually, there is a lot funny about it — a massive federal government capable of launching a stealth bomber from the heartland to drop bombs on Afghanistan is incapable of securing its own border.

If we can’t laugh about it, we’d be crying about it. But Herman Cain is an optimist with a sense of humor. He’s not retreating from his positions. He’s laughing about the incompetence of both political parties letting a situation get so out of hand.

Liberals don’t have one and many of us have forgotten it. They are starting to come back out of their caves and from under their bridges to be angry on TV about Herman Cain smiling.

We should rejoice. Humorless liberals are our greatest PR advantage in 2012 with independents who just want something to smile about.

Read Walter Ralston Martin's "Kingdom of the Cults" for the lowdown on what mainstream Christianity thinks of Mormonism. It's a short chapter, but lays it out fairly well.

Are Mormons Christians and are they "saved"? Depends on whether or not they'll follow Christ out of the very upper mildest regions of hell or stick with fallen angel Moroni when he tells them Jesus is Satan and if they follow Him they'll lose everything including their entire ancestry and current and future family. I hope most of them will follow Him out.

Maybe when they see a bunch of the Catholics and mega-christianists in hopefully a very long line going toward the brightest Light they'll get the idea.

Gman, I think Perry is better mano, mano......that being said, I still think the gooper est. is backing Romney & the pundit that yapped about republican united front, going be hard to pull off with teaparty wanting an outsider........I am glad to see the teaparty turning their focus to the Senate seats & keeping the house, then regardless of who is prez, could make them a lame duck.........

Perry may not be able to state his positions but if his team can get out his states performance I think it's a whole new ball game........somehow Nafta/Gatt doesn't apply in Texas, 10 billion a month in American made goods exported to Mexico.......his guest worker program makes his agriculture work....& I think I stated it previous to his announcing his plan, issue drilling permits immediately......I'm not sure if people get what is involved with drilling for oil........that industry creates awhole lot of manufacturing, pipe, fittings, the towers, 2 back up engines, trucks, tankers, hoses, & much more........yeap it sure would be good for America to make things once again for use here!
As well, I think slick Rick would focus on EPA, & got a feeling the regulations going into effect 2012, he has got a very personal stake in that aspect......
