Obama Projects

If you listen closely to Barack Obama (or even not that closely), you will hear him engaged in projection all over the place. He constantly is accusing his opponents of what he himself is guilty.

Case in point: he has spent a good deal of time fundraising for his 2012 re-election while telling us that he's "not focused on the campaign." At one of these supposedly non-existent fundraisers this week, most of the coverage centered on a former Google exec who begged Obama to raise his taxes.

But the far more interesting comment came from Obama later during the event. He said, "Some of you here may actually be folks who used to be Republicans but are puzzled by what's happened to that party. I mean, has anyone been watching the debates lately?"

Oh, Bama! You're such a cut-up!

Think about this: Obama accusing the GOP of being extreme. I suppose it takes an extremist to know one, but the only extreme thing in the nation today is Obama's radical redistributionist agenda. He points to the Republicans and accuses them of exactly of what he is and what he is doing.

What happened to "that" party? Indeed. What happened to the Democrat party! Obama's donkey party ain't your father's donkey party. He ain't Bill Clinton, or even Jimmy "My Name Is Earl" Carter. Obama is a whole different kettle of radical fish.

What happened to HIS party? Him. He's what happened to his party.

Eva's Folly

One of the actresses on the soon-to-be-defunct show "Desperate Housewives" is dashing to President Obama's defense. Eva Longoria, who's long been an Obama supporter, attended one of his many fundraisers this week in California. You'll recall that she also works on "Latino issues," which is a euphemism for "promoting amnesty."

In fact, at one point Obama held an immigration summit of sorts at the White House. Did he invite the governors of border states who are on the front lines of the illegal immigration issues every day? No. But Eva was there, looking resplendent in her Versace dress.

This week, she went on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to declare her continuing love for Obama:

"He keeps getting beat up lately because there's such an extremist movement happening and it's a very dangerous - for me it's very dangerous - because it's not the character of America," she said. "It's really under attack. And he's been governing in, like, a state of emergency since the time he went into office. So we haven't really seen him do what he can do."

Oh, Eva, Eva. Please, we beg you: just sit there and look pretty. Don't open your mouth because when you do, the stupidity flows forth.

The "extremist movement" is not the tea party to which you allude, my dear. The only "extremist movement" in America is the radical leftist one carried out by your beloved Obama. The tea party IS the "character of America," as it's based in Constitutional first principles. You probably have no idea what those are. But don't worry your pretty little head about it. The "state of emergency" to which you refer has been deliberately created and promoted by the man himself in order to justify his insane agenda.

And as far as having not yet "seen what he can do:" darling, that's exactly what we're afraid of.

What's a Half Billion Dollars, Really?

The Solyndra scandal thickens....So now we know that Team Obama pushed ahead with a half billion dollar loan guarantee to a solar panels company, Solyndra, that was so shaky the Bush administration recommended a more extensive review before any taxpayer money was directed to it. But Team Obama couldn't be bothered with due diligence n' stuff. After all, the energy sector had to be remade in a more socialist direction, along with health care, the auto industry, the banks....So onward toward "green jobs" and "clean energy" and damn the torpedoes!

Well, now it turns out that not only were the executive and investors suites at Solyndra chockfull of Obama donors and supporters, but members of his own administration were warning that sinking that much taxpayer dough into a company that looked like it was going under was neither a good economic or political strategy. Now we find out that both Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and the then-director of Obama's National Economic Council Larry Summers were sounding the alarm bells a year ago about Solyndra. Of course, they are now CYA-ing out the wazoo, but they were on the record warning about the catastrophe that looked likely.

Chiming in in support of hurling the half bil in taxpayer dough at Solyndra? Energy Secretary Stephen Chu, recipient of the Nobel Prize. Just because you have a Nobel doesn't make you bright in everything...or even in possession of common sense. Also, then-energy "adviser" Carol Browner, she of the socialist background, and Ron Klain, then chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden. They won the day and overruled Geithner and Summers, who must be having a hearty chortle over how right they were.

Meanwhile, we're out the $535 million and Obama is getting ready to approve gazillions more to similar "green jobs" boondoggles before the "stimulus" officially runs out at the end of this week. Onward, he says. Damn the torpedoes!

Raising Cain

When businessman Herman Cain was first thinking about throwing his hat in the ring in the Republican presidential race, I met him in the greenroom at Fox. He was delightful: brilliant, elegant, charming. I knew instantly that he was going to light a fire under the then-sleepy field of candidates. I then interviewed him on my radio show and was impressed by his forceful advocacy of conservative economic and constitutional values. I immediately "hearted" Herman Cain.

Months later, here he is, sitting atop---or close to it---the GOP field. After a few great debate performances and consistent campaigning, Cain won the Florida straw poll and is now scoring in the top three candidates in other polls. Zogby has him leading among GOP primary voters. Governors Romney and Perry: you may want to look over your shoulder.

A few reasons why I think Cain is gaining traction:

1. He's a successful CEO. He knows how to create jobs because he's done it. He knows how the free market works because he's operated in it throughout his life. He respects American businesses, business leaders, and workers. He wants to see the traditional engine of American economic growth fired up again.

2. He looks like he's having the time of his life. That's important: Ronald Reagan looked like he was having a ball on the campaign trail. The country is in dire straits. We want someone who WANTS the job for the sake of what he can do for the country---and who looks like he's loving every minute of running for it. We want someone who is American optimism, personified.

3. After years of being called racist for opposing Barack Obama's insane leftist agenda, it's great to see a black conservative articulating a passionate defense of the Constitution----and taking it to Obama on his playing field.

4. We're sick of professional politicians. Get behind us, Satan!

5. We are desperate for authenticity. Cain doesn't dance around a subject, pretending to know things he doesn't. He hasn't spent years running for this or that, learning how to spin in order to deceive or obfuscate. THAT'S what we want now: we want real.

There may be some other reasons why Herman Cain is picking up real support now, but I think these are the major reasons. I'm not sure if he can build on his current momentum or if voters will default to Romney or Perry or another professional pol. But for now, Cain has everybody's attention---and for good reason. He's the real deal.

And I still "heart" him.

Bubba On The Move

Over the weekend, Bill Clinton---our 42nd president and national treasure---played a round of golf with Barack Obama---our 44th president and national treasure.

No good can come of this.

They weren't out there on the links for yuks. And nothing either of them does is without careful deliberation.

They were negotiating one of two things:

Either 1. The Clintons want to run Hillary in a primary challenge against Obama, and Bubba was extracting concessions from the Bama to stop her from doing so.

OR 2. They were negotiating Hillary's terms for leaving her job at the State Department and running with the Bama as his VP. (Biden? Who's Biden? Oh, you mean that guy who's just developed some unspecified "health issues?")

The second scenario is more likely. Watch what happens. The Bubba LOATHES the Bama, and vice versa. A friendly round of golf was not the purpose of their friendly round of golf.

The Bama is going to need to jazz his ticket if he's going to have any hope of winning re-election. What better move than to dump the old white male gaffe machine and replace him with the woman for whom many Democrats still pine?

Fasten your seatbelts. The Clintons are back in the driver's seat.

Bad And Worse

No wonder Barack Obama is going to run a scorched-earth campaign against the GOP nominee next year. Hope and change is out the window, replaced by fear and loathing. Unlike in 2008, this time he's got a record to run on---and it's bad. Really bad. And whenever he thinks he has turned a corner, the news gets worse.

Another bloodbath on Wall Street this week. First time jobless claims last week over 420,000---again. The Fed, out of bullets, reaching back to a "twist" trick that's over 5 decades old. Record numbers on food stamps, welfare, unemployment. His support among men, women, whites, Latinos, the poor, and blacks is dropping precipitously.

Obama is stuck in a Kafkaesque nightmare of his own making. His policies have been classically socialist. But unlike capitalism, which gives everyone an equal shot at opportunity, socialism gives everyone an equal share in poverty and misery.

And it turns out, it doesn't matter what gender you are or what racial or economic group you belong to: Americans don't like poverty and misery much. And we have a way of applying a quick boot to the rear of those who inflict them.

The 411

One of my many great Tweeps, Christian, tweeted this to me today:

Thanks, Christian, for reminding me and everyone else in America that the countdown has begun to removing the skinny socialist from the White House.

Team O Can't Help Itself

The root source of the financial crisis is found in the Community Reinvestment Act, which was passed under Jimmy Carter and reinvigorated under Bill and Hillary Clinton. Put simply, it forced banks and other financial institutions to lend to unqualified candidates for home and other loans. The classic loan under the scheme was the "NINJA" loan, which stood for "no income, no job, no access," and folks with none of those things were able to get loans they clearly could not afford. But they did fit the profile of people Democrats are always trying to socially engineer their way up in American life. Banks then resold the loans and pulled other manuevers to try to spread out their risk, and of course when those "no job, no income" people started defaulting because---duh---they couldn't pay, the whole system blew apart.

This is what happens when liberals attempt social engineering in the private economy. And yet, the Obama adminstration is doing it all over the place, from the health care to the auto to the energy industries. And now, it appears they want to do it again in the financial industry.....by forcing the banks to loan to unqualified people.

Here's the story from Politico regarding a trip VP Biden took to Cleveland this week:

A top banking source emails POLITICO's Ben White about Tuesday's meeting between Vice President Biden and some bankers in Cleveland:

"Administration asked banks to increase their small business lending by committing to a three year goal. ... Most banks have already increased goals and are doing all they can to make loans since they are losing money with historically high deposits. ...

"The problem is lack of demand from credit worthy businesses worried about high unemployment rate and higher taxes. Not to mention a total collapse in real estate market. Administration sent VP Biden who arrived 90 minutes late and berating banks to lend more since they were 'bailed' out under TARP. Bankers left scratching their heads hoping the administration does not expect them to lend to unqualified borrowers."

Berating the banks. Bankers left scratching their heads. Seriously: with the Obama/Biden Team, thebankers should have known better. Of course this was coming. Team Obama just can't help itself.
