I guess if you have survived impeachment, nothing really fazes you.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are on vacation in the Hamptons this week. They decided to blow off the evacuation order and sit tight in their luxurious rented mansion. Other celebrities also decided to ride out the storm on the east end of New York's Long Island. Here is a story about them by New York's Fox 5 website. I've highlighted the particularly hilarious quotes. Enjoy!
Celebrities Stay Put In Hamptons As Irene Approaches
EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. - Celebrity visitors to the exclusive Hamptons area of Long Island were refusing Sunday to let Hurricane Irene cut short their end-of-summer getaways to the millionaire's playground.
Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Alec Baldwin, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, Gwyneth Paltrow and Christy Turlington are just some of the famous faces who fled to Long Island for the weekend, according to the NY Post .
"We're staying," Bill Clinton said. "Hillary and I have been watching for the last few days, and we're just doing what we're supposed to do. I'm more worried about the people in the low-lying areas that could get flooding."
The Clintons are staying in a rented estate on exclusive Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton. The former President enjoyed a belated 65th-birthday lunch Saturday afternoon with his nephew Simon Rodham at Babette's, where the crowd sang for him.
Other celebrities were similarly unperturbed.
"I'm going to stay here," Baldwin said. He and his girlfriend, the 27-year-old yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas, spent part of the weekend stocking up on supplies.
"I bought some fish, and I'm actually going to cook," he added. "Which is a phenomenon. It's like a lunar eclipse."
Supermodel Turlington, who even went jogging along Lily Pond Lane, said that she and her family -- filmmaker husband Ed Burns and their two children -- were evacuated from their home in TriBeCa, where Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay rocker Chris Martin, also have a place.
"We figured we should come out here and ride it out," she said. "We're staying put."
Timberlake and Biel arrived in East Hampton on Friday night -- as some Hamptons denizens decided to take their leave, including longtime resident Paul McCartney.

us Jay, who is preventing those jobs from being created?
How many non-government jobs did the Dems create when they had absolute power---from 2007 to 2010?
More crab fishermen lose their lives every year than all the oil workers. Should we sue Red Lobster, Jay? After all, it is really their fault; maybe even yours as the end consumer.

Who is to blame for not creating jbs?
REPUBLICANS!
They are trying their best to screw up the country. To blame it on the Democrats.
While I am far more familiar with the maritime industry. Do know that the fisherman have the the most dangerous job in the country.

Liberals and Progessives CAN'T create jobs.
They are nothing but PARASITES.
Posted by: LongRifle | August 28, 2011 at 10:40
Reagan increased government jobs. Most jobs created by Perry are either government jobs or minimum wage jobs.
Of the Republican Presidents. Only Reagan decreased unemployment. The others increased it.
Of, the Democratic presidents, ALL but Carter decreased unemployment. While with Carter it stayed the same.
Only Obama, in this Recession had raised unemployment.
Bureau of Labor statistics
So, once again, you have shown that Conservatives nit-pick data and ignores the rest.
Republicans spend more:
Economics will be an important part of our next Presidential election. One of the main arguments against the Democratic party seems to be that it will raise taxes and increase spending. But is there any statistical information to backup that claim? R.W. Bradford argues just the opposite in The Politics of Presidential Spending. While the article is several years old, the information is still quite valid (and if you factor in Bush’s War and his administration’s bungling of just about all aspects of American government, it would help support the results). Here are some statistics and excerpts:
Most people believe that Democrats are big spenders and that Republicans are tight-fisted. The evidence leads to a very different conclusion.
…
Since 1970, spending has grown 64% faster when a Republican sits in the White House than when a Democrat does.
http://atypicalguy.wordpress.com/2008/05/04/spending-statistics-republicans-vs-democrats/
Now, I know that dealing with Conservatives in issues such as these. In regards to which party was president and which controlled Congress.
They will look at who was the Republican and who was the Democrat.
Side with the Republican and blame the Democrat.
"Congress controls spending"
"The President has the power to veto"

It's not stupidity; unfortunately, my cynicism tells me it was opportunism far more than thrill-seeking.
For a Katrina II that never materialized. Luckily for them and more luckily for tens of millions.
The intelligent and prudent evacuated.
But this was just a warning. Cumbre Vieja won't be so easilly escaped. Most unfortunately, the fact that so many idiots survived this potential disaster will increase the death toll from the next one as survival only adds to their stupidity and arrogance.
The most sickening kind of "American Exceptionalism": the belief that God is on our side and Fukushima could never happen here.
Wrong on both counts. It just wasn't time yet and not going to happen via hurricane.
Survival of the smartest. The East Coast has been warned, probably for the last time. The next disaster won't be dodged.

Looks like Princess failed to realize why The Beautiful People decided to enjoy Irene on Long Island: They knew that their anointed leader had rushed back a day early from the $50,000 a week suite at Martha's Vineyard. All was well. SLIME (Socialist Liberal media would do the rest. Even FOX joined the hype.)
My favorite Irene header is from Yahoo News citing AFP. It comes with fotos of the Commander of the Storm, just back from Martha's Vineyard.

Obama’s Enablers
Meet the mainstream media.
Sep 5, 2011, • By FRED BARNES
As a rule, the press is the scourge of presidents. They’re expected to endure unending scrutiny, mistrust, and badgering—plus hostility if they’re Republicans—by a hectoring herd of reporters and commentators in the mainstream media. But there’s an exception to the rule: President Obama.
It’s counterintuitive, but Obama has been hurt by the media’s leniency. Both his presidency and reelection prospects have suffered. He’s grown lazy and complacent. The media have encouraged him to believe his speeches are irresistible political catnip, though they aren’t. His overreliance on words hasn’t helped.
Absent pushing and prodding by the press, the Obama presidency has atrophied. His speeches are defensive and repetitive and filled with excuses. He passes the buck. With persistently high unemployment and a weak economy, Obama recently declared, in effect, “I have a plan. See you after my vacation.” The press doesn’t goad him to lead.

A 15 year old girl is paralyzed for life, but would be OK if she had a parent or guardian who laid down rules and did not allow her to attend these parties, which often end like this. Nothing new in the 'hood. From the NYtimes: There were 532 murders in NYC in 2010. Among the murder victims, 92 percent were minorities and 83 percent were male. More than half the victims and killers had some type of drug background, and 62 percent were fatal shootings, all occurring mostly outside of Manhattan, according to department figures. If a person looks at deaths from Natural disasters.
The only other such disasters that have caused fewer fatalities since 1900 are Earthquakes, then Wildfires and mudslides.
The only exception with hurricanes is Katrina.
Heat kills the most. Then, severe weather,(floods, tornadoes, lightning) then cold. Then, the last 4 starting with Hurricanes.
That applies for this country.

Do you know anything about Thaddeus McCotter and Ethanol? Romney has pandered outrageously to Iowa Ag on what many consider an outrageous and stupid corn subsidy. They cooled to Rick Perry who has backed off their AG Welfare. Can you comment on the following I found re McCotter in Iowa?
/////Farmers at the Iowa Corn Growers Association meeting said they liked the answer a presidential candidate from the Detroit area gave better than that of Texas’s Rick Perry, a former agriculture secretary.
Michigan Congressman Thaddeus McCotter told the farmers at their meeting in West Des Moines today that he supports the ethanol mandate in the renewable fuel standard – and the audience gave him a standing ovation.
http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/08/27/farmers-give-gop-candidate-from-detroit-area-standing-ovation-for-ethanol-answer/
J.WHITE MARXOBOOBY. So? What do Ethanol Welfare matter? Ain't all welfare for da people? Perry is no good. How do I know? I don't care if he against Ethanol Welfare. That's small potatoes, I mean corn. So what if it jacks up the price of food so they feed the corn to cars, corroding the engines? Ain't my Barry the President got food stamps for everybody? Welfare is welfare. Any socialist can tell you that. You know a real reason to oppose Perry? Ask my friend the Jesus Boy/Nazi bull dyke weirdo. He tell you. She tell you. It tell you. It's because Perry is da ANTICHRIST! Got it? Would a friend of mine steer you wrong? How would you know Perry the ANTICHIRST without my fine friend telling you? Would even Monica know, and she so educated? So what if my friend a wacked-out creep with a mouth you can smell from across the street? The truth is the truth. Huh. Progressives know what's what. Can't you tell? You ever see a right-wing like my friend JB the Nazi dyke? We progressives stick together. That's because we know what's what.

"Do you know anything about Thaddeus McCotter and Ethanol?"
----------------------
Gringoman,
I'm not really up the specifics of that, but I do know McCotter is a strong proponent of renewable energy. He wants to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. So it makes sence that his support of ethanol subsidies fits into his overall energy strategy. I believe if the US got serious and implemented policies that would encourage the private sector to develop all sources of energy available to to us, then in the short term, we would see an immediate drop in oil prices. The oil cartels would drop the price per barrel well below what it would cost us to produce domestic supply. Thus we would probably see $2.00 a gallon gas again like Bachmann promised. Even if that were the case, we should move forward anyway. We need a comprehensive energy policy that both expands our domestic fossil fuels production concomitant with the development of renewable energies such as wind, solar, biofuels etc.

This is the value of Ben Bernanke, a shill for Money Power. The goal is to keep people believing in the system until world government is established."

DJ,
I used to hear McCotter on John Batchelor. He sounded pretty good. And he may have a good record on energy.
But if he is really supporting Ethanol, like that post suggests, he may be equalling Romney as a corn panderer. Experts have thoroughly analyzed and denounced Ethanol. I believe even Trump calls it idiotic. McCotter's got to be smart enough to see this. Leaving what other conclusion than that he's deliberating pandering to the Iowa corn industry. And this is doing Americans no favor, stupidly feeding corn
to cars instead of livestock and humans, thereby grossly upsetting food prices. I'm willing to listen to a clarification of where McCotter stands on this, especially after you find out something about Ethanol and why many consider it practically a criminal waste. So far, this doesn't sound good for McCotter. OTOH, I was impressed by Perry's refusing to do a Romney pander to Iowa corn welfare.
As for alternate energy, windmills, solar etc. Who doesn't want it? And why don't we have it? If it's feasible, where have the Europeans and Japan been? They are more dependent on fossil fuels than the US is and pay far more for it. Why haven't they found a "breakthrough" yet? Are they too stupid? Are they too backward technically, when they all have better mass education than the US does? BTW, the oil companies also look for alternate possibilities. They could make more on a "breakthrough" than the measly 8% or less profit they now make on oil, while supporting with taxes all the welfare governments who are always demagoguing them in the dumbed-down media.

Texans pay no income tax. But, property taxes are higher than the rest of the nation.
Texas property tax rates higher than national average, Census says
September 30, 2010
On average, Texas homeowners pay more annual property tax than the rest of the nation, according to U.S. Census data interpreted by the Tax Foundation. The research also found that tax burdens relative to home value rank the Loan Star State in third place
As many of Texas’ small business owners struggle with other tax liabilities such as the Texas franchise tax, the news comes with a degree of disappointment. However, recent news shows that Texas is currently thriving in small business and entrepreneurial growth, particularly among the state’s Hispanic population

There is a buzz about, regarding Fugisaki (Fugi) apples. They are small, mottled in appearance, and have a sour taste. Fugisaki is only 100mi from the radiation accident.
Maybe these apples are good, and maybe there are not. Without country of origin labelling, no one knows where they are from, or if they have been inspected.
Posted by: Truther | August 29, 2011 at 03:41 AM
Finally they are able to arrest Bubba for something. He got away with Chinagate, and LincolnBedroomGate, and Pardongate. It is probably either this, or violating the man act, or tax evasion.
About country or origin labeling - perhaps someone might clarify the existing law for me. I am under the impression that if labeling is provided, it is voluntary, and that there are no laws, international or domestic that are enforced. So, for example, if Japan disguises the origin of its apples, is it not possible they could place any labeling on the apples? Could they sell to an intermediate, and then place their label on the apples?
Posted by: Truther | August 29, 2011 at 04:27 AM
I am aware, for example, that shoes are made by alien workers, just across the border in the US. These are then labeled in big letters "MADE IN USA". Foreign made solar panels, likewise were imported with capacitors to skirt import duties, a cap added in the US and the panels sold as American. There are regulations on produce, but (correct me if I am wrong) I believe the Japanese could sell their apples to some other country say Mexico, and my grocer would never know from whence they came.
People would like to know what is going on out there, with the assurance that abuses of process are not happening... but what I have heard is that Congress rapidly pounced on the budgets of regulatory agencies that attempt to administer these programs.
Posted by: Truther | August 29, 2011 at 04:50 AM

We are moving produce across the big pond right now. No one asks where the stuff eventually ends up, as far as I know, just point of origin and destination. If something comes out of a crate, no one here eats it. Better to eat in the cafeteria :0
Would Bill C be guilty of violating the man act, if he transported ladies to/from Davos? I suppose it depend on where Davos is, and what is is.

We need a comprehensive energy policy that both expands our domestic fossil fuels production concomitant with the development of renewable energies such as wind, solar, biofuels etc.

Don't forget hydro-electric power, both from rivers and oceans. Geothermal is also interesting.
On the other hand, we know there is no way around fossil fuels.
Don't let libs tell you otherwise so they can continue to sell us out to the petro-caliphate.

More LIEberal insanity at the BBC:
http://durotrigan.blogspot.com/2011/08/no-i-want-to-go-to-europe.html
Nigerian "migrant workers" in Libya want to enter the EU as "refugees". No mention that the "work" these "migrant workers" did was carried out as MERCENARIES.
Libs love to leave out the facts, as evidenced above. Their craven love of anything foreign and exotic, no matter how bizarre, will get us all killed sooner or later if we don't find a way to reign these dangerous lunatics in.

"As for alternate energy, windmills, solar etc. Who doesn't want it? And why don't we have it? If it's feasible, where have the Europeans and Japan been? They are more dependent on fossil fuels than the US is and pay far more for it. Why haven't they found a "breakthrough" yet?"
-------------------
Gringoman,
Why havne't they found a breakthrough yet? Because they haven't found a breakthough YET. But when they do, everthing will change. Think how much better things will be if we don't have to rely on our sworn enemies to sell us our energy needs.
I will concede the point that ethanol is a poor replacement for fossil fuels. But I suspect McCotter's support has more to do with his overall energy plan. A plan designed to eventually make America energy independent. Of course I'm not leaving out the possibility he is engaging in a bit of pandering of his own, afterall, he IS a politician. In any event, the ethanol can play a part in a larger strategy designed to strengthen our leverage against OPEC. It's only one part of an comprehensive energy policy McCotter will implement. If we finally get serious and start to actually implement a coherent, wide ranging energy policy, OPEC will react by lowering the price per barrel below what it costs us to develop our own resources. Thus market forces kick in. That, I'm affraid will cause us to kick the energy independence can further down the road like we've done many times since the Carter Administration. So, from a purely national security standpoint we MUST plow ahead despite market forces and continue to develop our natural resources even if they are cost ineffective. That along with a Manhattan Project like effort/magnitude to invent, create, manufacture, then implement alternative energy sources. The upfront costs may seem prohibitive, but they will pay huge dividends in the end. Bottomline, our future well-being depends on moving away from fossil fuels.
In that regard, Perry is playing checkers whilst McCotter is playing chess.
