As I watched former Illinois Attorney General (and African-American) Roland Burris try to make his way into the U.S. Senate to take his seat in that body, only to be blocked by Harry "The War is Lost" Reid and other (white) Democratic leaders, a question came to mind:
Where were all of the so-called "civil rights" leaders walking with him, arms linked?
Where were Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Cornell West, Harry Belafonte, Louis Farrakhan, or Michael Eric Dyson? Where was anybody from the NAACP or the Urban League? Where was Oprah? Where were ANY of these people to help this guy?
The man who appointed Burris, Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich, has been neither indicted nor impeached. He retains all state Constitutional powers, including the power to make a Senate appointment. And since there is an ongoing investigation into whether Blago had previously tried to sell that seat, Burris's appointment had to be exceptionally clean and scandal-free. So why the silent treatment? Why are all of the "civil rights" guys AWOL?
Burris was trying to cross the Edmund Pettus bridge and no one was there to lock arms and walk the gauntlet with him in solidarity.
The race-hustlers and hypocrites were nowhere to be found.
Can you imagine Senate Minority Leader (Republican and white guy) Mitch McConnell trying to lock out a black man from Congress? Sharpton and Jackson would be screaming about the "racism" of the Republican party and organizing boycotts of everything.
Instead, because it's a bunch of white, beta-male DEMOCRATS doing it, I can only assume---based on their acquiescence----that they think it's OK.
The Dems always say that they "heart" diversity. Except when they don't.

Monica,
Everything you point out about the Dems blocking a black man from taking his duly appointed seat in the US Senate is valid and incisive. But to cap it off we really need to mention the unmentionable, which is where gringoVision comes in:
The white Democrats, unlike the white Republicans, know how to run a neo-plantation. The Republicans are left, mouths agape, gawking at the sheer chutzpah of it.

Very lame attempt to make this about race. This was about not seating "anybody" appointed by Blago; regardless of their race. (he should get seated, since there is no justification, legal or otherwise, to exclude him).
Speaking of excluding, I didn't seem to notice many folks of color at the McCain/Palin rallies. The Republican party excluded so many voters this past year that less folks were available to vote for them on Nov. 4th.

A good comparison is when FDR rounded up all the Japanese Americans after 120741 and put them into concentration camps. The lamestream media and Democratic establishment didn't blink an eye, and the leftie academic establishment gives FDR a free pass. The Democrats get away with anything including standing in the doorway of a qualified black man from taking his rightful seat in the Senate.

Monica's point is 100% accurate. You're so ignorant to the reality of the double standards "tolerant progressives" and their democratic party pravda outlets practice in this country it's staggering.

Hamas to kill Jewish children 'anywhere'
Issues threat as Israel continues military battering

Hamas has threatened to kill Jewish children anywhere as Israel continues its counteroffensive in the Gaza strip.
"They have legitimized the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine," Hamas leader Mahmoud Zahar said in a televised broadcast recorded at a secret location.
"They have legitimized the killing of their people all over the world by killing our people," he said in the report, according to the London Times.
(Story continues below)
Islam expert Robert Spencer, director JihadWatch.org, reacted to Zahar's threat.
"Behold the brazen hypocrisy: Hamas launches attacks from civilian areas and uses children as human shields, and then uses the deaths of Palestinian children to justify murdering Jewish children anywhere in the world," he said
"And the world yawns and issues another condemnation of Israel," said Spencer.
The Times report said Zahar's comments came as fighting intensified on the northern outskirts of Gaza City.
The top Hamas leader warned Israel Islamists would kill Jewish children in revenge, the paper reported.

Hamas caused the death of Palestinian children by using them as human shields.
Everybody knows this. Except the maniacal muslims so filled with hate they can't see their own delusional rationalization deny it.
In a way, they remind me of left wing lunatics in the western world.
The difference is, maniacal muslims hate Jews and America, while our left wing lunatics hate Bush, Republicans and good old fashioned American values.
Since they both hate America it's small wonder they're equally qualified for disfavor.

Israel has every right to defend itself. If Hamas is firing rockets into Isreal killing innocent civilians then Isreal has the right to take Hamas out. Why doesn't the lamesteam media get this fact? Are they a bunch of ignorant partisan hacks? (I won't answer that because you guys know my answer). The lamestream media continues to use the proportionality argument against Israel. Israel has the right to completely destroy Hamas if they are shooting rockets into Israel. That is an act of war and Israel has a right to completely destroy the threat.

We will need a "moslem exclusion act" very soon.
First they came for the Jews, then they came for the Catholics.. and so on.
We need to protect ourselves.
The majority of moslems is complicit imho.
Their silence is deafening.
And our very own MSM feeds into it by blatantly lying about Israel.
Question: Are they that evil or are they merely bought?

It is true that Japanese Americans were placed into a restricted living area. Congress paid they reparations of a sort.
But, in fairness to FDR, and I am sure Bush would have done the same thing - there were extremely few Japanese Americans, and of those many were spies. They came to the US and were fairly obvious, because of their race and language. There were few reasons for them to be in the US.
The vast majority of Orientals in the US were Chinese, leftover from the railroading days. The Chinese knew these Japanese were not Chinese, so they were fairly easy to single out. Today, this would be impossible.
Many Japanese were involved in espionage. In Hawaii, in San Diego, and many other places. You could pick them up on radio, transmitting information back. Since few Japanese were in America legitimately, it was fair to assume of those here, many had strong linkages to Japan, and would assist the enemy.
I wish we could do that with Arabs, but there are far too many here, and they blend in more easily. That approach to limiting damage from within would be now more difficult in war time. There is a serious internal problem with foreign influences in peacetime, which since the McCarthy period, has largely been ignored.
Take DC for example. It is like the start of the World government around there. Many people there that are not US citizens : Mexicans galore cleaning offices, many Arabs driving taxicabs, etc. There are many Pakistanis. I would be afraid, if I were a major political figure, to venture forth in that environment. One taxicabs driver I had from Pakistan had a huge knife under his seat. He said "Someone had tried to hold him up". I was not sure about that, but I did not bother to disagree.

WHO SHALL OVERCOME THIS MYSTERY?
(FROM http://monroerising.com/2009/01/07/scotus-potus-the-clock-is-ticking/)
Though it appears that many objective and well-intentioned Constitutional scholars already believe that BHO is not a natural born citizen of the US and, is, therefore, ineligible for the office of POTUS, a foreign birth would render Obama absolutely, incontrovertibly ineligible. And, his being a Constitutional professor, Obama would surely know that.
Did you also know that since mid-December 2008 the Kenyan Government has reportedly imposed a “gag order” on Obama’s extended family in Kogelo, Kenya? I am double-checking the accuracy of that report, but from what I’ve seen already, it appears to be true. And, if true, why?
Why won’t Obama release his vaulted birth certificate in Hawaii and end this mystery? Why?
The manner in which the Obama Team has handled this matter is wholly irresponsible and suspect; and their arrogance has been very deeply troubling. Such does not bode well for the sanctity of American Constitutional law.

SHALL SCOTUS OVERCOME THE MYSTERY?

Supreme Court to take up eligibility question again: "WASHINGTON – A conference is scheduled Friday, January 09, 2009, at the U.S. Supreme Court during which justices will consider behind closed doors – again – taking up a case(from Democrat Attorney Phillip Berg) that could put to rest the questions about whether President-elect Barack Obama qualifies to occupy the Oval Office under the Constitution's requirement that he be a 'natural born' citizen."
The biggest question was why, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists as his campaign has stated, Obama hasn't simply ordered it made available to settle the rumors yet he has spent over $800,000.00 to date to keep from showing this one certificate.
WHY?
http://themunz.blogspot.com/2009/01/supreme-court-to-take-up-eligibility_06.html
Posted by The Munz at Tuesday, January 06, 2009
gringoNOTE: There is this answer from GAB, Legal Services Division........ If Obama replied to a lawsuit by producing his birth certificate, it would change his legal status. How? In effect, it would make his status of being born a dual citizen a legal certainty. His website and factcheck have already admitted that he was born a dual citizen, due to Kenyan father (this regardless of whether he was born in Hawaii or not.) But such acknowledgement on the Internet is not de jure. To admit it in a court proceeding would be absolutely de jure, and therefore immediately affect his legal status in any legal proceeding against him. His expensive legal counsel would certainly be aware of the ramifications, potential or otherwise. These ramifications alone would incline them not to go there, if they can possibly avoid going there. And, thanks largely to a hush-this-up Carry Barry media, they've been very successful in not going there...So far.

LT COL RALPH PETERS Would you ask your accountant to perform brain surgery on your child? That's the closest analogy I can find to the choice of Democratic Party hack Leon Panetta to head the CIA.
Earth to President-elect Obama: Intelligence is serious. And infernally complicated. When we politicize it - as we have for 16 years - we get 9/11. Or, yes, Iraq.
The extreme left, to which Panetta's nomination panders, howled that Bush and Cheney corrupted the intelligence system. Well, I worked in the intel world in the mid 1990s and saw how the Clinton team undermined the system's integrity.
Al Qaeda a serious threat? The Clinton White House didn't want to hear it. Clinton was the pioneer in corrupting intelligence. Bush was just a follow-on homesteader.
Now we've fallen so low that left-wing cadres can applaud the nomination of a CIA chief whose sole qualification is that he's a party loyalist, untainted by experience.
The director's job at the CIA isn't a party favor. This is potentially a matter of life and death for thousands of Americans. But the choice of Panetta tells us all that Barack Obama doesn't take intelligence seriously.
Mark my words: It'll bite him in the butt.
After the military, the intel community is the most complex arm of government. You can't do on-the-job training at the top. While a CIA boss needn't be a career intelligence professional, he or she does need a deep familiarity with the purposes, capabilities, limitations and intricacies of intelligence.
Oh, and you'd better understand the intelligence bureaucracy.
Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.), who was blindsided - and appalled - by the Obama mafia's choice, has the essential knowledge of how the system works. She, or a similar expert, should have gotten this nod. But the president-elect wanted a clean-slate yes-man, not a person of knowledge and integrity.
We're witnessing the initial costs of Obama's career-long lack of interest in foreign policy, the military and intelligence. He doesn't think the top job at the CIA's important and just wants political cover on that flank. (Guess we got Panetta because Caroline Kennedy has another engagement.)
Forget a "team of rivals." Obama's creating a campaign staff for 2012.
Of course, he's reeling from the shrill rage of the Moveon.org crowd over his nomination of grown-ups to be his national-security adviser, director of national intelligence, administrator of veterans' affairs and, yes, secretary of state. (By the way, how could Hillary be dumb enough to accept a job where success is impossible?)
Panetta's appointment is a sop to the hard left, a signal that intelligence will be emasculated for the next four - or eight - years.
Think morale's been bad at the CIA? Just wait.
Conservatives played into this scenario by insisting that any CIA analysis that didn't match the Bush administration's positions perfectly amounted to an attack on the White House. Well, sorry. The intelligence community's job isn't to make anybody feel good - its core mission is to provide nonpartisan analysis to our leaders.
To be a qualified D-CIA, a man or woman needs a sophisticated grasp of three things: The intel system, foreign-policy challenges and the Pentagon (which owns most of our intelligence personnel and hardware). Panetta has no background - none - in any of these areas. He was never interested.
If you handed Leon Panetta a blank map of Asia, I'd bet my life he couldn't plot Baghdad, Kabul or Beijing within 500 miles of their actual locations. (Maybe he can see China from his California think tank?)
This shameless hack appointment is the first action by the incoming administration that seriously worries me. Get intelligence wrong and you get dead Americans.
Ralph Peters was a career intelligence officer in the US Army.

A retired senior CIA operations officer who quit last summer after 20 years tracking terrorists says the rank-and-file reaction to President-elect Obama's choice of Leon E.Panetta to run the spy agency has been "overwhelmingly negative."
Charles "Sam" Faddis, who led a CIA team into northern Iraq before the 2003 invasion, says he had "already heard from a large number of rank and file within CIA on this choice, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative."
Faddis added:
"These are people who are sweating blood everyday to make things happen and living for the day that somebody is going to come in, institute real reform and turn the CIA into the vital, effective organization it should be. To them this choice just says that no such changes are impending and that all they can look forward to is business as usual."

End redistribution, bailouts, subsidies, and stimulus proposals that don't work!
Save our economy by the fastest, cleanest, most efficient, and permanent way possible ... end double taxation of business.
Please consider writing to your Representative:

and your Senators, including Senator Mitch McConnell:
http://www.senate.gov
and Senator Shelby: senator@shelby.senate.gov
-----------------
Honorable Senator [Congressman],
Please consider the Friedman-Reich Proposal to end the double taxation of businesses, in lieu of all other corporate tax stimulus proposals. The proposal will create business growth and American jobs by encouraging capital flows directly to the equity and debt markets.
We believe this is the fastest way we can make our economy strong and competitive without adding to the deficit, increasing Federal borrowing, or increasing taxation.
Ending double taxation will result in little or no immediate loss of revenue to the government, because it will displace current corporate tax deductions, credits, non-farm subsidies, hedge fund shelters, and capital gains taxes as profits will be recognized at the shareholder's level, yet paid by the corporation.
S-Corps, LLCs and LLPs are already taxed at their owner's rates. This proposal will treat C-corps in the same manner. Thus, it is also the least expensive way to quickly restore value to savings plans--401(k), IRA, 529, etc.--as these accounts will reflect the new net-tax valuations of their corporate equity holdings. And it could be a way to make bailouts and other government assistance to corporations less likely.
As this is an idea started by a conservative, Milton Friedman, and advanced by liberals, such as Robert Reich and Lester Thurow, we believe it can be a bi-partisan effort in Congress. And because Mr. Reich is an advisor to Mr. Obama, we believe Presidential backing will be forthcoming as well.
The proposal would most efficiently redress systemic disadvantages our tax system imposes on businesses and capital markets, precisely at the time when both need help.
Respectfully,
[Signature]

THE END OF WHITE AMERICA?
(from THE ATLANTIC ONLINE)
Another moment from The Great Gatsby: as Fitzgerald’s narrator and Gatsby drive across the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan, a car passes them, and Nick Carraway notices that it is a limousine “driven by a white chauffeur, in which sat three modish negroes, two bucks and a girl.” The novelty of this topsy-turvy arrangement inspires Carraway to laugh aloud and think to himself, “Anything can happen now that we’ve slid over this bridge, anything at all …”
For a contemporary embodiment of the upheaval that this scene portended, consider Sean Combs, a hip-hop mogul and one of the most famous African Americans on the planet. Combs grew up during hip-hop’s late-1970s rise, and he belongs to the first generation that could safely make a living working in the industry—as a plucky young promoter and record-label intern in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and as a fashion designer, artist, and music executive worth hundreds of millions of dollars a brief decade later.
