This is revisionist history.

I would have to research exactly when it was said and by whom, but I recall after 9/11 that members of the Bush Administration advised that people had to be careful what they said now.

Why was Vera Baker's website taken down?

This is a snap shot of the website 2nd link...if this is nothing but gossip, then why remove the website right after that English Paper, started running this story? People are talking about some sort of Money connection, I don't think this is about romance. Is Martinique a place to park some Money? There are jokes going around, that state, this is what prompted Barack Obama, to tell Americans to start learning a second language FRENCH? Lets see if Money does talk :)

It was Ari Fleischer: "There are reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do, and this is not a time for remarks like that; there never is."

So once again, what Monica is saying is a lie and it's absurd. Sorry, M/M. I criticized Monica again. Oops.

Angela

MONICA, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This is beneath anybody who is deserving of national syndication. Do you see no responsiblity in reporting factual information? There are ways to respectfully disagree with a candidate without misrepresenting the facts or inciting hateful language and implications.

1 - Obama nor his campaign did anything to destroy Joe the Plumber. Obama is in no way responsible for McCain invoking Joe’s name in the presidential debate more than 20 times, which then prompted the PRESS to trip over themselves running to find this man and elaborate on the story. Is it Obama’s fault none of it turned out to be accurate? No. Since then, McCain is solely responsible for the hundreds of times “Joe the Plumber” has been used as a slogan in McCain/Palin stump speeches. But worst of all, Joe himself is responsible for the decision to appear in several nationally televised interviews, the most recent of which revealed that he is contemplating a run for Congress? And OBAMA is to blame for this? You are out of your mind. I don’t even fault the press at this point, Joe is now bringing the scrutiny upon himself.

2 – You and the rest of talk radio can raise Obama’s middle name all day long, nobody is stopping you. If you look like nutcases because it has nothing to do with this campaign, well then that’s on you. I would love to hear an intelligible argument as to how his middle name is of any importance and why it has been “raised” for any other reason other than invoking the image of Saddam or to falsely suggest that he is Muslim. You would be a sick person either way.

3 – Obama is not Muslim, he is a Christian. But if he was Muslim, are you somehow implying that would be problematic or that it disqualifies him from seeking office? In which case, again I’d like to hear that argument and good luck not coming off as unpatriotic xenophobe, which is what somebody is if they would discriminate against a person in this country solely on the basis of his/her religion. Is that what your conservative values are about? What relevance is his family’s CHOICE in religion?

4 – If you would like to bring up Wright, let’s have an in depth conversation about Muthee and the Wasilla Assembly of God. Didn’t think so. Pastors are off limit for a reason, even John McCain respects this. A member of a congregation is not responsible for the words and actions of its pastor; if this were the case we could then rationalize that all Catholics are pedophiles – would you really like to take it there Monica?

5 – See my previous post on the ridiculous attempts to imply that Obama is something to be feared because of insignificant or irrelevant associations. But if you would like to continue to point fingers, than point the finger at Sarah Palin and her connections and contributions to the Alaskan Independence Party. For somebody who is running for VP of this country, there’s nothing more deplorable than supporting an organization that wants to secede from the US.

6 – Speaking of Sarah Palin, what you just described does nothing but highlight the obvious. After Sarah Palin’s rollout to the national press failed miserably, the McCain camp refused to let her off their short leash. She has still yet to do any significant interview that did not lend itself to a recital of talking points. But now that she’s apparently broken rank, I’m sure her next 10 days will continue to provide job security for the writers at SNL and confirmation to every member of the “liberal elite” that she is no more qualified for this job now than she was two months ago.

7 – Obama does not support the Fairness Doctrine. But hopefully that won’t stop somebody from finding another means to prevent you Monica, from causing our ears to bleed. What you have just spewed is hateful, ignorant, and tasteless. Your peers should be ashamed to even have a person like you as a contributor to their shows.

Congratulations Monica…you are well on your way to again earning the title of the Worst Person in the World.

So I decided to collect up a bunch of video clips, juxtapose them and send to friends and family a link for viewing in order to do my part. I had dozens of clips that I had downloaded over the last two years.

Good people like Monica do their job every day on what is relevant at the time. The problem is that are literally stuck in the news reporting and commenting on topics as they occur.

What I did was to step back, collect everything reported over the last to years and LOOK AT IT ALL AT ONCE. I looked at all that I had, started to arrange it into a logical order for presentation when all of a sudden the lightbulb lit up and it was then that I realized what Obama's REAL intensions are. I freaked out.

Do you remember in one of the primary debates where he stated that he would have direct talks with the worlds enemies? Liberal pundits told us he was refreshing and open minded, conservative pundits pointed to his obvious inexperience. What I realized when the lightbulb lit up is that there was another reason- what if he really is a Muslim and shares radical Islam's goal of world domination?

In the movie I've put together at:

http://www.citizenslim.com/

I present an overwhelming case that:

- The weather underground is alive and well and that Obama's real goal is to complete the work of 60's and 70's radicals by ultimately overthrowing the U.S. government, this time from within.

- To ultimately be able to claim that the Muslim Empire has rolled over the United States like a steam roller.

The scary part is when you go back over so much that he has said, there are clue's everywhere. It's like a thriller you might want to watch at the theaters, only scarier because it is very real.

I am trying to make as many people aware of this as possible. Anyone I've showed the video to just sits there in utter disbelief at the end.

I hope Monica reads the comments on her blog!

Citizen Slim

Citizenslim,

Thanks for posting your film; I think that Monica does read the blog.

I think you're right about the Weather Underground. They are not blowing up buildings but Bill Ayers is certainly on the boards of a lot of foundations. He and Barack Obama were on a board that was funding ACORN. What about that educational foundation that Bill Ayers is on?

Listen to this video of Bernardine Dohrn in her younger days. It sounds familiar. Their adopted son, by the way, is an advisor to Hugo Chavez.

Conservative and Catholic commentator GEORGE WILL says is best:

McCAIN LOSES HIS HEAD

By George F. Will
Tuesday, September 23, 2008; Page A21

"The queen had only one way of settling all difficulties, great or small. 'Off with his head!' she said without even looking around."

Under the pressure of the financial crisis, one presidential candidate is behaving like a flustered rookie playing in a league too high. It is not Barack Obama.

Channeling his inner Queen of Hearts, John McCain furiously, and apparently without even looking around at facts, said Chris Cox, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, should be decapitated. This childish reflex provoked the Wall Street Journal to editorialize that "McCain untethered" -- disconnected from knowledge and principle -- had made a "false and deeply unfair" attack on Cox that was "unpresidential" and demonstrated that McCain "doesn't understand what's happening on Wall Street any better than Barack Obama does."

To read the Journal's details about the depths of McCain's shallowness on the subject of Cox's chairmanship, see "McCain's Scapegoat" (Sept. 19). Then consider McCain's characteristic accusation that Cox "has betrayed the public's trust."

Perhaps an old antagonism is involved in McCain's fact-free slander. His most conspicuous economic adviser is Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who previously headed the Congressional Budget Office. There he was an impediment to conservatives, including then-Rep. Cox, who, as chairman of the Republican Policy Committee, persistently tried and generally failed to enlist CBO support for "dynamic scoring" that would estimate the economic growth effects of proposed tax cuts."...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/09/23/ST2008092301500.html

McCain now risks loosing his home state and if Palin blows off Alaska all bets are off for a Palin/Wurlzenbacher ticket on 2012.

The Party of Yesterday
By TIMOTHY EGAN
Published: October 26, 2008

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/26/opinion/26egan.html?partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

Two years ago, a list of the nation’s brainiest cities was put together from Census Bureau reports — that is, cities with the highest percentage of college graduates, which is not the same as smart, of course.

These are vibrant, prosperous places where a knowledge economy and cool things to do after hours attract people from all over the country. Among the top 10, only two of those metro areas — Raleigh, N.C., and Lexington, Ky. — voted Republican in the 2004 presidential election.

This year, all 10 are likely to go Democratic. What’s more, with Colorado, New Hampshire and Virginia now trending blue, Republicans stand to lose the nation’s 10 best-educated states as well.

It would be easy to say these places are not the real America, in the peculiar us-and-them parlance of Sarah Palin. It’s easy to say because Republicans have been insinuating for years now that some of the brightest, most productive communities in the United States are fake American — a tactic that dates to Newt Gingrich’s reign in the capitol.

Brainy cities have low divorce rates, low crime, high job creation, ethnic diversity and creative capitalism. They’re places like Pittsburgh, with its top-notch universities; Albuquerque, with its surging Latino middle class; and Denver, with its outdoor-loving young people. They grow good people in the smart cities.

But in the politically suicidal greenhouse that Republicans have constructed for themselves, these cities are not welcome. They are disparaged as nests of latte-sipping weenies, alt-lifestyle types and “other” Americans, somehow inauthentic.

If that’s what Republicans want, they are doomed to be the party of yesterday.

Not only are we becoming more urban as a nation, but we’re headed for an ethnic muddle that could further shrink the party of small-mindedness. By 2023, more than half of all American children will be minority, the Census Bureau projects.

Ronald Reagan was lashed by liberals for running a “Morning in America” campaign, but he knew this country, at heart, was always tomorrow-looking — and he fared very well in educated cities as well as small towns. “Whatever else history may say about me when I’m gone,” said Reagan, “I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears.” Barack Obama, who brings that music to the stage, leads by 30 points on the “hope and optimism” question in polls.

Spurning the Reagan lesson, John McCain made a fatal error in turning his campaign over to the audience of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. In so doing, he chose the unbearable lightness of being Sarah Palin, trotted out Paris Hilton and labeled Obama a socialist who associates with terrorists.

At a recent Palin rally, the crowd started chanting, “We want Fox!” McCain has given them just that. But how isolated and out-of-touch is this audience? At the end of each debate, a sure-fire way to decide who won was to look at the Fox viewers poll — typically showing a landslide for McCain. Within a day, scientific surveys found big wins for Obama.

Whether Americans are real or fake, they can see through Palin, a woman who couldn’t correctly answer a third grader a few days ago when asked to explain the duties of vice president. Somewhere, between the shuffling to costume and accessorize Palin with a $150,000 wardrobe, her handlers never handed her a copy of the Constitution.

Republicans blow off the smart cities with the counterargument that they win the exurbs — the frontier of new homes, young families and the fresh middle class. And it’s true, in 2004, George Bush won 97 of the 100 fastest-growing counties in America.

That will not happen this year. Polls show McCain is losing 20 percent of self-described moderate Republicans. And new registration figures and other polls indicate that Obama will likely win such iconic exurban centers as Washoe County, Nev., Loudoun County, Va., and Wake County, N.C.

But in the kind of pattern that has held true since McCain went over to the stupid side, his brother recently referred to suburban northern Virginia as “communist country” and a top adviser, Nancy Pfotenhauer, said it was not “real Virginia.”

Here in Seattle, it’s become a one-party city, with a congressman for life and nodding-head liberals who seldom challenge a tax-loving city government. It would be nice, just to keep the philosophical debate sharp, if there were a few thoughtful Republicans around.

That won’t happen so long as Republicans continue to be the party of yesterday. They’ve written the cities off. Fake Americans don’t count, but this Election Day, for once, they will not feel left out.

Well, our liberal feminist is back and ready to slam Governor Palin. Here is some history of the feminist movement:

"The second wave of feminist activity began in the early 1960s and lasted through the late 1980s. What helped trigger this second wave was the book written by Betty Friedan. "The key event that marked the reemergence of this movement in the postwar era was the surprise popularity of Betty Friedan's 1963 book The Feminine Mystique. Writing as a housewife and mother (though she had had a long story of political activism, as well), Friedan described the problem with no name the dissatisfaction of educated, middle class wives and mothers like herself who looking at their nice homes and families wondered guiltily if that was all there was to life was not new; the vague sense of dissatifaction plaguing housewives was a staple topic for womens magazines in the 1950s. But Friedan, instead of blaming individual women for failing to adapt to women;s proper role, blamed the role itself and the society that created it" (Norton, Mary Beth, A people A Nation pg 865. 2005 Houghton Mifflin Company New York.) "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminist_movement

Here is the first chapter of Betty Friedan's, "The Feminine Mystique"

"The problem lay buried, unspoken, for many years in the minds of American women. It was a strange stirring, a sense of dissatisfaction, a yearning that women suffered in the middle of the twentieth century in the United States. Each suburban wife struggled with it alone. As she made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at night--she was afraid to ask even of herself the silent question--"Is this all?""

Angela, first and foremost I would prefer if you didn't attack Monica personally, because you're on HER site.

1 - The media, like it or not, has been the foundation for Obama's popularity. It would be a political stunt for Obama to go question JtP's background, because in reality he's the reason Obama couldn't answer the taxation question properly. JtP is a huge reason why Obama can be directly connected with massive redistribution of wealth. It would reflect poorly on Obama if he did something like that.
2/3 - I really don't think America should be concerned whether he's Muslim or any of his past associations when his policies are what they are. If he was a mainstream Democrat, then his character can be discussed, but he's a left-winger.
4 - Look, Angela, it's obvious that Obama at least condoned what Wright said during the 22 years of his allegiance to his church. He just denounced Wright for political reasons, it had nothing to do with a difference in Wright's sermons.
5 - It wasn't Sarah Palin, but Todd Palin who was a member of this party. He quit in 2006, well before Sarah had intentions of running for vice president. She has always been a member of the Republican Party.
6 - I bet you're wrong, there's nothing else I can say.
7 - Do you really think Obama would veto such a thing, that basically destroys the only right-leaning media, that is, talk radio? I mean obviously this wouldn't extend to, say, television, because that's DOMINATED by liberals.

When Sarah Palin appeared on SNL, SNL pulled in its HIGHEST ratings in 14 years.

No, M/M. No.

SNL's ratings were spiking because of Tina Fey's IMITATION MOCKING Sarah Palin, not because of Sarah Palin.

And who is the CD person? Another one who says we can't attack Monica's views on this site because its her site? This is actually THE most appropriate place to attack her views. If she wants to respond, she can.

Folks, contrary to what you think, Monica does not need you to defend her. She's not sitting at home in a pile of all the money she's making as a pundit crying because we liberals don't like her opinions. Geez.

M/M - First, please don't make assumptions about my association with feminism as I have done nothing to prompt the label nor do I need a history lesson from the likes of Wikipedia. But while you post the section about the 2nd wave of feminism, you fail to mention the 3rd wave, which "seeks to challenge or avoid what it deems the second wave's essentialist definitions of femininity, which (according to them) over-emphasize the experiences of upper middle-class white women." You also fail to acknowledge "post feminism" which continues the backlash against the 2nd wave as well as wide array of theories on contemporary feminism, including the notion that it is "no longer relevant to today's society." All in all, you have severely limited your explanation of feminism to make a point, when in fact that wave of feminism is hardly seen as providing key principles of modern feminism.

I merely pointed out UG's failed attempt at scaring away liberals by posting lyrics that were in fact written by a feminist liberal. I have never stated anywhere on this blog that I am a feminist, but if you would like to engage in a conversation about my personal convictions, by all means just ask and we can discuss.

Republicans are PROUD of our GUN-TOTING BEAUTY QUEEN WHO DARES TO CHALLENGE THE STATUS QUO. Not only is she tough, competitive, and cool under pressure, she LOOKS GREAT IN VALENTINO. (She even made the black pantsuit look sexy.)

Like the say in Alaska: "Coldest state - hottest Governor"

I find it odd that Sarah Palin in one interview (Katie Couric) assuredly labels herself a feminist, yet in last week's interview w/ Brian Williams, refused to label herself as such. I am at odds with a woman who fails to answer such basic questions. The truth is, Sarah Palin is in no way a feminist. Sure, she has benefited from the women's suffrage movement just as you and I have and will excercise that right on Nov 4th. She has cracked the glass ceiling and became a mayor then popular governor of her state. I have no doubt that Governor Sarah Palin benefited from the feminist movement, just as all women have who have equal opportunity to be anything in this country they so desire. As a woman, I respect her accomplishments and ambition and I do feel that her nomination as VP will pave the way for other women in politics, in much the same way Hillary Clinton has. I have great admiration for these women regardless of ideological differences. I even believe Sarah Palin does, as you suggest, look great in Valentino. However, I would disagree that her choice in apparel or being "hot" have anything to do with her qualifications as vice president; in fact I find those comments to be sexist and exactly the reason an otherwise accomplished woman may not be taken seriously when people rush to her defense by including remarks about her physical appearance.

I truly believe Palin didn't fully understand the ramifications of aligning herself with feminism when asked by Katie Couric, thus she flip-floped in the next interview. I believe she knew feminism to be a very generalized sense of a women's right to equality. Perhaps her advisors later pointed out to her that most feminists embrace principals such as equal pay for equal work - something John McCain claims he supports, but opposed the Ledbetter Act of 2007 (which passed in the House) on grounds that it would serve trial lawyers; he skipped this vote. He has no examples of legislation that would have given women similar rights as the Ledbetter Act.
Perhaps Sarah Palin also realized labeling herself as a feminist would also put her conservative values at odds with feminism, which is notably equated with women's wellness and safety, and reproductive rights.

Sarah Palin:
· Opposes reproductive rights.
· Opposes abortion including in cases of rape and incest.
· Opposes birth control
· Opposes emergency contraception
· Supports abstinence-only education.
· As mayor in Wasilla, did nothing to stop legislation that would require women to pay for their own rape kits. This is regardless of her claims now, that she is opposed to the legislation. As a mayor of a small town there is no way she knew nothing of the 6 month battle led by a police chief to pass this legislation.

Sarah Palin, accomplished as she may be, is no feminist.

I’m done with ‘em

Supporters of Palin say she’s had it with the campaign staff.

“She’s lost confidence in most of the people on the [campaign] plane,” a Palin insider told Politico. He says she would like to further ignore staff advice and do things her own way.

But CNN reports campaign aides say she’s a selfish renegade.

“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said this McCain adviser. “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family, or anyone else.”
