Dear Governor Palin:
As you prepare to give the biggest speech of your life tonight, I want you to know a few things.
The Left in this country so despises you for your beliefs and so fears you because of what you represent that they have tried to destroy you. They knew they had to do it fast, or your popularity, your principles, your coolness quotient----your candidacy----might take off. They know how powerful your example, your record, and your beliefs are. They know how powerful YOU are. And so they have moved in to try to destroy you before you could grab Americans' imaginations. If that were allowed to happen, they know it would be over for them.
They have said you are not qualified for the vice presidency. They have called you a bad mother. They have questioned your judgment in accepting a big job while having a family. They have accused you of faking a pregnancy. They have dismissed you as a small-town mayor, and a small-state governor. They have questioned your judgment in bringing a Down syndrome baby into the world. They have questioned your judgment in allowing your 17 year old daughter to bring a baby into the world. They have laughed at where you grew up, the college you attended, and the rural environment in which you choose to live. They have called you a joke. They have poked fun at your hairstyle, your eyeglasses, and your shoes.
And this was all in the first 96 hours after your candidacy was announced.
Governor: be of good heart! Know that they attack you because they hate what you stand for. The sexism they have used as a bludgeon has been appalling. The classism they have shown has been disgusting.
You are NOT "one of them," and they loathe you for it. But you are something more important: you are "one of us."
You are incredibly smart, tremendously accomplished, courageous, selfless, strong, principled, and humble. You are FIERCE. Don't let any of these left-wing hyenas take that away from you. In fact, draw strength from it. If you weren't a threat, they would have left you alone.
You have more power than you think, Governor. Push back. Show them you can't be rolled (just as you showed all of those corrupt Republicans and Democrats in Alaska). Remind them of how you got to where you are (and it wasn't by being a cream puff.) Be defiant in the face of their denigrating attacks. Be strong. Be warm and gracious and forgiving (even though they certainly know what it is they do.) Be real.
In other words, be yourself. That, more than anything, will vex your enemies.
You are one dynamite leader, Governor.
Go get 'em.
