Screwball Central
Anarchists, Code Pink, Flava Flav, Cindy Sheehan, tree sitters, ANSWER, feminists, PETA, vegans, pot legailzers, Naderites, illegal immigrants and the libs who love them. Levitations. Public nudity. Street theater. Puppets.
And that's just in the first 24 hours.
At least the Democratic National Convention doesn't try to be something it's not: classy, elegant, leadership capable. Normal.
One of the major groups orchestrating the chaos and anarchy calls itself "Recreate '68." Their objective is to convulse Denver the way the hippies, yippies, and sundry other nutballs convulsed Chicago during the Summer of Love.
Of course, America took one look at these unwashed, longhaired, bead-wearing, drug-zonked fanatics and the upheaval they provoked and said, "Not for us."
The danger for Obama is that '68 might be recreated a little too vividly. He already has a radical problem, and I'm not just talking about his long friendship with Bill Ayers. He's radical on his opposition to war, he's radical on wealth redistribution, and he's radical on abortion. He's befriended radicals, promoted their agendas, and espoused them himself. For decades.
Even the slightest whiff of radicalism from his convention will reinforce what many voters already believe about Obama. The Silent Majority will rise again.
In fact, the Silent Majority has already begun to make itself known. John McCain's poll numbers stun most Democrats: he's not supposed to be running even with Obama. He's not even supposed to be close.
He's running even because the Silent Majority that elected Richard Nixon (twice!) and Ronald Reagan (twice!) and both Bushes is still a potent force. It's not made up of the effete liberals who make excuses for or wink at anti-American radicalism. Instead, the Silent Majority is the heart and soul of this country, who believe in it, its goodness, its generosity, its strength, and its nobility.
The far-left maniacs driving the DNC bus this week find purpose in making fun of America, and running it down.
The Silent Majority takes a deep, profound, almost spiritual pride in America. And it's a quiet pride...until Election Day.

Let all liberals move north to Canada and send us the Canadian Conservatives in return.
Then build a wall.
A thousand feet tall.

Great job on TMG today, Monica!
You were the only one who clearly recognized Russian intentions and mischief.
Well done!

Word is circulating that McCain supporters were behind the Georgian incident. Unfortunately this seems to have backfired.
Posted by: Truther | August 24, 2008 at 07:18 PM
I saw the end of TMG. Wow, talk about playing it safe, predicting a 1-point lead for McCain after the conventions. Even if you are wrong, you are sure to be within a safe margin of error.
You have no guts, Monica Crowley, and little analytical ability.
Posted by: FredK2929 | August 24, 2008 at 07:26 PM
Actually, Monica, the "Summer of Love" was the summer of 1967. The summer of 1968 might be more appropriately called "the Summer of Anarchy" or "the Summer of Chaos."

Will Spike Lee be there to film it all?
Posted by: Ummah Gummah | August 24, 2008 at 08:07 PM
Fred, I will go out on a limb and predict McCain in a landslide.
Anything can happen of course, but the way this is going.. LOL.
Obama is scared already, which isw why he picked the "safe" candidate Biden.
Shoulda picked Hitlery!
But he didn't feel like sharing.. bad bad bad!
I can't wait for all those states to turn red on election day.
Complete with all the faces of those eager "tingling" media types.. ooooohh I just can't WAIT!!
Oh, and the European media!!!
They'll proclam America as Hyper-con or Super-dumm. Your pick.
Basically means the same thing anyway.
ROFLMAO.. @ disappointed MSM in Europe.

Now this is interesting ...
I wrote:
"The test of a Conservative President is three-fold:
"- Will he protect and defend the interests of the United States abroad without at the same time damaging our reputation and good will by intervening where US interests are not at stake?
"- Will he advance freedom for all Americans by limiting government, limiting taxes, and reducing regulation?
"- Will he nominate jurors who interpret the Constitution in narrow way?"
UG responded, "Says who?!"
UG, there you go again. Why don't you tell us how you might judge a Conservative President? (Let's see if you can do it in the context of American policy without mentioning "Islam", "Muslim", "Dhimmi", etc.)
Posted by: Michael Avari | August 24, 2008 at 08:21 PM
I hope Obama wins because then you will have the opportunity to show us that you are not a bigot by not making any bigoted remarks after the victory. Up to the challenge?
Posted by: FredK2929 | August 24, 2008 at 08:22 PM
u make NO sense, FreaK. Oh wait.. am I a "bigot" or a "racist" now?

Here's the O proclaiming Biden as our "Next President".

I judge a Conservative President by many things, Mickey.
- steadfastness
- Communication skills
- ETHICS
- HONESTY
- Putting the common good before special interests
- principled
- FEARLESS
- No-nonsense
- courageous
- Putting the interests of his country and its citizens before all else.
- aware that taxpayers' money is "public TRUST" and thus HARD-EARNED!
Will give you more when I think of them. Am kind of knackered.

Good luck Mitt!
This articles mentions 6 reasons why McCain should consider Mitt for VP, including how Mitt can deliver 2 swing states.

The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?" Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, CBS, HBO and the Cartoon Network!"

If we watch a confrontation at the DNC between anarchists that don't believe in any authority, and liberal democrats who want to control every aspect of our lives from conception to death, which side do we root for?
Posted by: Tom TB | August 25, 2008 at 06:55 AM
Michael made a distinction between racist and bigot. I need some clarification on that.
Whether Ummah is a racist or a bigot, he's still a moron.

Sounds like neocons' stereotypes of the left from the last 60 years. How come you left out rabble-rousers, union sympathizers, and communists?

One final note: It's Flavor Flav, not Flava Flav. Nice attempt by the preppy girl to be cool (or should I say "kewl"?).
Posted by: FredK2929 | August 25, 2008 at 09:11 AM
Fred,
I have to disagree with you. Monica showed alot of guts on the show and brilliant analysis. Whereas the others were trying to blame Bush's policy of encircling Russia, State Department encouragement of Georgian use of force, Shakashvili's miscalcualtion of American support on the one hand and Russian reticence to invade on the other, and whereas Buchanan was arguing for turning a blind eye in order to preserve Russian-American relations, Monica was the only one who called the Russians out for a 1900's type of invasion of a sovereign nation. She was the only one who supported the McCain idea of excluding Russia from the G8.
The answer is not binary: all other factors were contributors to the Russia invasion, but Monica recognized the primary one, Russian revanchism.
At least Buchanan and McLaughlin agreed Bush was too enchanted with bikinis in China to have made the idiotic mistake of not flying home.

UG,
Nice list, and 100% agreed ... but I expect these traits in both Conservative and Liberal Presidents and all public servants. The same standards of ethics and decency must apply across political philosophies.
I was curious about your view of the Conservative political philosophy. I am concerned about the void in the advancement of the intellectual foundations of Conservatism, as I notice divergent implicit definitions assumed on this site and in the media.

Five year old Little Johnny was lost, so he went up to a policeman and said, "I've lost my dad!"
The policeman said, "What's he like?"
Little Johnny replied, "Beer and women!"

Talking about screwballs, the entire DNC convention is the height of hypocracy:
8/24/08: Irreligious Democrats open "faith-filled" convention with prayer.
Weren't these the same people who concluded they needed to pander to the religous after Kerry's loss in the 2004 election?
Now they are holding Islamic prayers at this year's convention. Good grief - have these low lifes any shame within their devoid anti-american, anti economy, cut and run characters?

It's nice to see you contribute in a constructive manner.

The media have to HIGHLIGHT the islamic prayers at the Dhimmicrat convention. If people see how they cater to our enemies they will finally wake up!
Fat chance.
I hope the McCain people pick up the footage though.

MA, I am not interested in furthering a particular ideology but rather the Nation, based on Rule of Law and Self-interest.
A good President has to have the stones to go toe-to-toe with evil and never back down. I for one do not want an American president to talk directly to the iran-nazi-in-chief.
I also want tougher responses to iranian incursions into Iraq. This "president" we have now is the great "non-communicator".
He needs to come out once every few days and explain what the iranians are doing and what we are going to do f we catch them at it again.
I do think my list is more geared toward a Conservative. Libs are much less principled since their entire raison-d'ĂȘtre is based on exchanging a piece of what "the rich" have for votes.
Bill Clinton was the first to roll back entitlements but he was horrible on foreign policy.
