The terrorists see Barry Obama as another Jimmy Carter and I think they are absolutely right. The lefties say McCain would be a Bush third term, but the truth is an Obama Administration would be a Jimmy Carter second term. For the terrorists, the thought of Obama setting down and negotiating with them without preconditions is a complete victory for them. During WWII we did not negotiate a peace agreement with Nazi Germany, we decided that we would accept nothing but unconditional surrender. Some people you cannot negotiate with because how can you come to an agreement with murderers and terrorists? You cannot. You can talk with these people on lower levels if they agree to preconditions that benefit us, but for the President to agree to negotiate with terrorists without preconditions signals to the world that we can set down and negotiate like gentleman and come to a mutual agreement with murderers. We can't do that without selling out our values and our national security.

If the Big O gets elected we can look forward to the country turning into Londonistan overnight.

And HUGE waves of moslem "immigration" as part of the demographic jihad.

And since there are the libs who will always label anyone who questions islamic immigration to Western countries a 'racist' I'd like it to be known that it wasn't me or other 'racists' who came up with the term "demographic jihad".

It was in fact a concept developed by the "moslem brotherhood" in their attempt to figure a way to overcome the West by means other than military since that would obviously not work.

Unfortunately we may have to endure another possible even more vile attack than 911 before finally enoufgh people truly wake up and start to demand real action instead of these PC wars being fought with restrictive ROE.

And we will have to stop the handwringing over whether a PFC shoots a KKKorag or whether we should waterboard the enemy or stop putting undies on an enemy combatant's head.

Maybe he could take over the managerial duties for the New York Mets.

Can't do worse than Willie.

Though as President I fear he will in fact do worse than Willie.

Michael Avari

I just finished Bill Buckley’s latest book, Flying High (2008, NY: Basic Books). It saddens me to say it is his last book, published posthumously. Yet, there is something poetic, even romantic, about this. The book describes National Review’s (NR) instrumental support of Goldwater: Brent Bozell’s ghostwriting of Goldwater’s Conscience of a Conservative, the formation of the Young Americans for Freedom which worked to nominate him over Rockefeller, William Rusher’s (NR’s publisher) friendship with the candidate, James Burnham’s and Frank Meyer’s husbandry of the Conservative philosophy … and other gems.

It is a nostalgic view of clear-headed repudiation of the left leaning policies from both parties that galvanized the Conservative movement and ultimately led to Reagan. And it thus reminds us what we must do now, and how we must do it.

It also contains NR's decision not to allow the John Birch Society to define Conservatism by prejudice, hatred, and ad hominem attacks against perceived enemies. I put it to you: are the innuendos against Obama, in lieu of meaningful and deep dialog with him on issues, not tantamount to the same?

How bitter sweet it must have been for Buckley to write this book. Buckley ends his life and his career precisely where it started. What a gift to us, children of one of the greatest movements in American History. What exquisite beauty! What an invitation to carry the movement forward with vigor, and with civility.

Michael Avari

UG,

I am not sure if by citing Bozell here you are implying a response to my comment. The Bozell of which Buckley speaks is Bozell, Jr., father of the author of the blog you cite (Bozell III), deceased in 1997.

Regards,

FK

Jon Stewart did not berate McCain on his program. The two get along great, and Jon Stewart merely asked him about it. I thought that McCain's answer was appropriate, replying that he did not believe that Hamas actually endorsed either of them, that they were against our way of life in general, and that he believed that he (McCain) was Hamas's "worst nightmare".

I really wish rightwing pundits could make their "points" without making misrepresentations.

Let Barra Obama run the Mets?

Well, first we gotta see if he git to run Amerka. Them Mets need them some track records, look like to me.

But what if y'all don't color up the White House in November? (I think you got to, but my man gringoman won't say.)

Well, if Barra availerble, yeah. Let him do the Mets.

You right, he can't be no worse than Willie. Or Georgia Bush neither.

FK

Somehow I'm supposed to read your sarcastic ebonics-laden posts and not conclude that you are a racist?

MICHAEL AVARI,

On Ummah's linking to Bozell on Obama. It seemed clear to me that Ummah, regardless of Buckley's book, was addressing your point about the need for "substance" as opposed to "innuendo."

Bozell or Newsbusters did a very detailed litany of Obama gaffes, which are becoming a daily joke, as the Lamestream outrageously refuses to call him on it after crucifying a Dan Quayle for a "potato" remark and obviously being ready to pounce on McCain for anything, even if it is less blatant than the non-stop slew of Obama gaffes.

I believe that Ummah is asking whether you join the MSM in "laying off" Obama here. I.e., you seem to regard critique of the Obama gaffe fest as more in the realm of "innuendo" and "ad hominem" rather than "substance" and an indicator of what this guy is. Or do you?

ps As for "substance" proper, I asked earlier for your ME-savvy input on what Obama should talk about with the Tehran Islamos who vow to go nuclear and call Israel a "rotten corpse" that must be wiped out.

I haven't seen your reply. Did I just miss it?

To FrK:

You can read my friend gringoBro and conclude whatever platitude your sick Liberal Racism mind wants to. The crypto-Leninista game is practically over and you don't even know it. That makes it even more fun.

Michael Avari

Gringoman,

An innuendo is relating Obama, a practicing Christian, to Islam becuase of his middle name, or because of his ancestry over which he exercises no control. It is to that which I object.

Bozell's commentary is admitedly not that, but sets a standard for Presidential candidates to be perfect in gaffe-avoidance, by which standard President Bush a) would not have elected, b) should be made to debate Obama with a gaffe counter just for kicks. Is this substance? Bozell's father might not agree.

Yes, you missed my comment on what we should do with Iran, but no worries. What Obama should do is a) not get elected because I agree that, on substance, he cannot be President, b) if elected should not sit with Ahmadinejad.

What the US should do, as I mentioned in a previous post is to destabilize Iran internally. I would be glad to expand on that if you do not recall my reasoning.

Finally, I avow enjoy conversing with Gringoman, but wonder if Gringobro is somehow so assured that I am not black and would not be offended by his mimicry. Or that as a white Goldwater style anti-discrimnation Conservative I would not be offended. Is there a need for that? Or for calling your detractor "sick" because he seeks to promote the respect for every individual that undergirds our Constitution?

I appeal to your intelligence as a gentleman.

FK

Intelligence? Gentleman?

Good luck on that appeal, Michael.

Ummahgummah

Michael if you were appealing to Fred to act like a gentleman and to show a smidgeon of intelligence then.. GOOD LUCK indeed!

Ummahgummah

Fred GringoBro surely doesn't care whether you think he's a "racist" or not.

Time's up, libs!!

PC being swept out the door...

I've seen plenty of comedy show featuring goofy fuddy white people.. GringoBro is a welcome breath of fresh air in a very one-sided comedy and general mainstream entertainment environment.

Ummahgummah

Michael, i have to take issue with what you are saying to GBro. Fred is doing ANYTHING BUT promote "respect for every individual that undergrigs our Constitution".

Must I remind you of Fred's often outrageous and sometimes salacious comments to/about Ms. Crowley? Not to mention what he's said to yours truly.. revealing his fantasies of dousing me with kerosene and setteing me on fire for just ONE example.

K-Fred has abused various people on this blog and if you are the one who has so far escaped his ire then that does not make him a "gentleman".

Let's please be clear about that.

GBro has every right to fight fire with fire.

Fred's chickens are merely coming home to roost, if I may use this somewhat frequently used term.

In fact it is about time that Conservatives and Libertarians start taking the initiative and take the fight to the enemy.

To that end I will end with Marc "The Great One" Levin's famous slogan: BEAT BACK THE LIBERAL HORDES!!

MICHAEL AVARI

1. Of course I'm aware of the proposal to "destabilize Iran from within." Nice idea. Unfortunately, raising such a nice idea does not absolve responsible adults (which generally eliminates the screeching Left) from the following question: What do you do about the fast-developing Tehran bomb while praying that the regime implodes from within? What do you do if they do not implode?

2. Mentioning Bush in the current gaffe fest is beside the point, which is why most liberals try to glom on to it, hoping desperately to distract us from the fact that Bush is not running and Obama is running.

3. Nobody, certainly not myself, is damning McCain or Obama for a gaffe here and there. A Presidential campaign is a very heavy load. What is now becoming evident, however, is accumulation of evidence. If you haven't followed the great gaffe trail that the young Harvard guy is leaving behind him, and you think it has no bearing on his substance, well, I'll leave you to your view and stick to mine, which tends to agree with Bozell fils, who strikes me as every bit as intelligent as Obama is supposed to be.

4. I'm told by gringoBro that he's sorry if anybody, white or black, is offended by the views, feelings and speech patterns used by millions of citizens educated in the Big Government's Teachers Union public schools. But since everybody in today's Politically Correct Republic, even many of the gentle folk, are taking turns at being offended, I'm getting the impression that gringoBro wants his turn too. That is, he feels offended by those who are offended by his speaking out. He's never used a term like Liberal Racism, but I sense that he knows what their devious double standard diktat, inherited from Goebbels and Stalin, is really all about. In his own way, of course.

Michael, the Constitution does not treat citizens as children who must not be offended. That may be a concept for gentlemen and the phoney anti-racist weasels of People's dictatorships, but it is not quintesentially American. As you know, for better or worse, there was a revolt from the Land of Gentlemen.

5. Okay, let's try a spot of harmony among you, Ummah and me: The "Big Empty" (in Ummah's telling pfrase) is not qualified to occupy the White House, no matter what his melanin status.

ps If you are black, congratulations. I greatly admire any Afro_American who can demonstrate the intelligence and sensibility of a Thomas Sowell and the other such who are despised, mocked and blackballed by Liberal Racism which clings desperately to its neo-plantation and its race cards so dog-eared now from the 60's.

An' what you think Monca think?

Ummahgummah

Fred Kruger, you recanted only when I called you on it. It's in the Monicamemo archives.

You know what I wish you, Fred..? I wish you an up-close and personal encounter with a horde of Mahometans on an airplane so that you experience first-hand what all too often only happens to the hapless victims of liberalism.

It is due to the liberals that we have so many Mohametans in all our beautiful Western Lands..

They even put "Jerusalem" on the list of nanned songs at the BBC.. liberals!

Liberals should also feel first-hand the detrimental effects of moslems beign allowed to settle in Dar-al-harb.

Why should it only be US?

FK

I don't remember exactly what I said, Ummah, but rather than "recanting", I think what I did was concede that I was being sarcastic and that you didn't get it, since apparently only you and Gringoman are allowed to be sarcastic without people taking you literally.

Thank you for your wish that I experience the horrors of terrorism. How sweet.

It was inappropriate. Of course a candidate can say whatever he wants to say, but McCain lost forever a fraction of the high esteem i regard him in. It underscores, though, what MoDowd said on MTP last weekend. Obama and McCain HATE each other. This probably began when Obama reneged on his commitment to accept matching funds. McCain, it is said, considered Obama's going back on the promise as a serious breach among men. And McCain's testy "I take a backseat to no man on my affection for the military" really seemed out of character and sulfurous. Obama clearly knew what he was doing when he rubbed in McCain's defeat on the 21st century Bill of Rights, saying that he "didn't understand" how McCain could vote against it. This, my friends, is going to get ugly. The red-hot political summer begins ...
